The Citroen Basalt coupe SUV has been officially revealed in production guise for the first time ahead of its debut on 2 August. This is Citroen’s fourth model for India under the C-Cube programme and will be the French automaker’s budget flagship.
The images reveal what we have been seeing in spy pictures in terms of the profile, design of the wheels, and most importantly, the body's shape for the C-pillar, which is the bit that gives it its unique shape. Also visible is a rear spoiler, conventional door handles and wrap-around taillamps. The face is very similar to that of the C3 Aircross but with LED DRLs and projector headlamps.
You can also see brief glimpses of the cabin, confirming a beige scheme with a digital cluster, a 10.25-inch display for the infotainment system, and a climate control system. Buyers will also get armrests in the front and back with the latter also getting dual cup holders.
The images confirm that the Basalt will get Citroen’s 1.2-litre PureTech 110 turbo producing 109bhp and 205Nm and it will come mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed AT. This is Citroen’s entry into the fight with cars like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda Elevate.
