- Is one of the brand’s slowest-selling model
- Was the first all-electric model from Hyundai
Hyundai India has delisted the all-electric Kona SUV from their website hinting towards the discontinuation of the model in India. The Kona Electric is the first electric SUV to be launched in India and it retailed at a last-recorded ex-showroom price of Rs. 23.84 lakh.
The Hyundai Kona Electric was first introduced in the country in 2019 and has not received any update since. That said, the Kona Electric has remained one of the slowest-selling models by the Korean automaker. Moreover, the brand has always provided huge discounts of as much as Rs 1.5 lakh to attract customers.
Sold only in the Premium guise, the Kona Electric was bundled with a 39.2kWh battery pack mated to a single motor that produced 134bhp and 395Nm of torque. As for the driving range, the automaker claimed a range of 452km on a fully charged battery.
Now, post its delisting from the website, it is likely to also go off the sales in the country as the automaker is working on the electric iteration of the Creta. The latter is set to go into production by the end of this year followed by its launch in a couple of months.
As for the prices, the Creta EV is set to carry a significant premium over the ICE version resulting in a price tag of around Rs. 25 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the price range that the Kona Electric retailed at. And considering, the popularity of the Creta nameplate, the electric version of the same is expected to do good in terms of sales.
