Introduction
Earlier this year, Hyundai gave the second-generation Creta a major update in terms of design and features. Once the car had been launched, it became the logical step of progression that the Alcazar would get these updates from the Creta.
Now, the car has been officially unveiled with a price announcement scheduled to take place on 9 September. Ahead of the launch, here are all the details you should know about the car.
Exterior design
The overall shape of the car has been retained, but now gets the design language seen on global models, mainly what’s being offered on the Creta.
Up front, the Alcazar retains its bulky frame but gets new low-set headlamps and H-shaped DRLs. In profile, you get new 18-inch alloy wheels with a fan-like pattern.
The biggest change is at the rear where Hyundai has now given the car its signature connected taillamps with stacked elements. You get a new rear spoiler, high-mounted stop lamp, and design for the bash plate.

The dimensions have not changed and with this new design, the car looks even more imposing than what the outgoing model had to offer. Looks may be subjective but this is a part of the market where imposing presence plays a big role.

Variants and colours
Like the outgoing model, the Alcazar will be offered in the Platinum, Signature, Prestige, and Executive variants.

In both, the petrol and diesel range, the MT option is only available for the Prestige, Platinum, and Executive trims. There are seven single-tone colour options on offer while, surprisingly, there is only one dual-tone option in the form of Atlas White with a black roof.

Powertrains
There are no changes to the powertrains being offered with the Alcazar. You can have it with Hyundai’s 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The former is a GDi turbo producing 158bhp/253Nm and can be had with either a six-speed MT or a seven-speed DCT. The diesel on the other hand is Hyundai’s 1.5-litre unit that’s common all the way from the Venue right up to this car. It produces 113bhp/250Nm and can be had with either a six-speed MT or a six-speed AT.
Feature list and cabin
Hyundai revealed the cabin of the Alcazar and there is quite a lot to take in in terms of what they are offering. In the pictures, you can see King Khan, Hyundai’s long-running ambassador, sitting in the six-seat version, accessing the boss mode function on the left side.
Also visible are seat back tray tables, panoramic sunroof, adjustable under-thigh support, powered front seats, dual digital screens, ventilated second-row seats, adjustable headrests, central AC vents, and dual USB-C charging ports. You can have the cabin in a beige over black colour scheme. In addition to these features, the Alcazar will get Level 2 ADAS, connected car technology, and a full LED light package.
Expected pricing and rivals
The Alcazar will take on the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and the MG Hector Plus. We expect a minor price hike over the outgoing model.
