Great Hatchback

 

Exterior Maruti has made a attempt to make this car more attractive by adding some curves. Even the front light design have been changed. Compare to Old Wagon R, new Wagon R looks little better. But there is no major difference. I have a priviledge to drive one of my friend's Wagon R for last 3 months. But still I am not able to make the difference. Having said that, I would really not bother for look as the experience of Driving this new baby on road is great, wonderful & fabulous.

 

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The Interior's of the car are definitely of very good quality compare to Santro, Spark, Estillo, A-Star & Ritzs as well. I felt spacious & there is really a good space inside. The VXI model has fabric seats & they are really of good quality. Its very spacious at back & front both.

VXI model has internally adujustable electronic mirrors & both Front/rear are power windows. I feel the mirror adjustment button provided on right had door is weak & may break off with some load.

VXI has inbuilt Audio systems. It has aluminium finish. Dashboard finish is not so good. Dashboard has too much of depth towards windshield. So normally we can not reach towards the end of dashboard. AC cooling is also great.

 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fuel economy is great. Though we drive daily in congested traffic of Pune (In Peak hours), with moderate use of AC we get mileage of 15-16 Km / liter. On highway that goes close to 19 Km / liter.

Having a experience of driving other Hatch Back, I am still amazed to see such Silky Smooth Gearbox. Its really a good gearbox. While driving you feel like changing gears. Very Smooth Gear Box. I would give 100 out 100 to Maruti for this Gear Box.

 

Ride Quality & Handling

Maneuvering of this car is really easy & effective through Traffic of City Like Pune. I think this is due the smooth Steering it has. Ride quality is also good compare to other Hatch backs. If you have a experience of driving Santro, India then steering of New wagon R is something you should care for. Visibility due Right Hand Front pillar becomes issue on blind turns. So while turning on blind & sharp turns one needs to be cautious.

 

Final Words The on road cost of this car in Pune is Rs 4.3 Lakhs. Considering the price tag, I feel this is the great car on Road. People who are concern about shape may not like to buy but if it is far far better than any other hatchback in that range.

 

Areas of improvement Interiors, Importantly Dashboard. It needs to be improved. And obviously improvement in Shape so it will sell like Cake.
