I have purchase a Wagon R VXI In October 2012 and after drving I felt it is upto my expectation and found that every thing is OK but so far the Music system in Wagon R VXI is concerned, sound is good. But the music system as used is a bastard system. We are living in 21st cntury and we are using a music system where DVD player can not be used and also Pen Drive port is not there. MP 3 system is an out dated concept now and Maruti is still using the old fasinon. I am fully dissatisfied with the music system in new Wagon R VXI. Besides this the lever used to open back side dicky is not upto the mark. After using 3-4 times, the lever is not working and the work shop has repaired it two times but the same problem is continuing as it is.
However, it is a very comfortable vehicle although the front exterior look is not so good in compare to other brand of vehicles. The look of left, right and back side have been improved much and it is OK now. I have driven my freind's car Cheverlet Beat LT Petrol but Wagon R VXI is better than that one although there is a differences of CC.

Exterior Nice look though boxy, but cool.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Vxi model is having sufficient features as required in Mordern car. Space is best in class for family of 2+2. AC is nice & comfortable. Boot space is somehow less. Overall best packages in small investment.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 1 L Engine is showing good performance. I have reached max. speed upto 120 Km, still steering is found stable. Fuel economy is yet to calculated, but expected between 16 to 20 km/L. Gear box is 5 speed and 5th gear performance is owesome. However small sound is observed during reverse gear shift.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is mind blowing. Handling is very smooth. Front view from driver seat is commanding.
Final Words Best economical car for 2+2 size family without compromising riding comfort, space & interior.
Areas of improvement Boot space, reverse gear sound.

Exterior Exterior Styling is good for a city a car. Front facia looks really good with new headlamps, fog lamps and front and back chrome grill.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) It has everything that a budget city car should have. It has all 4 power windows, power steering,fog lamps, rear and front adjustable head rests, rear wiper, rear defogger, in built music system, dual storage space in the front dashboard. You name it and it has those features. Real value for money.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is quite peppy and responsive. Gear shifting is also smooth. You can expect min 15 KM/LT with full AC in City traffic which I think is good.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good. It has a good visibility from the driver seat. It is very good specially for the people who had learnt driving recently. Only thing is it has a tendency of body roll while driving in greater speeds which I think can be minimized by introduction of wider tyres and more body width which should support its dynamics at higher speeds.
Final Words A complete family car for a small family for city commute and daily office usage. Difficult to find such an option with so many features at this price in the market. Another advantage is as it is a product from Maruti, you can be rest assured of its service, spares and reselling aspects.
Areas of improvement Quality of plastics, music system can be improved. Introduction of wider tyres to prevent body roll at higher speeds.

Exterior New Wagon R look is good than old versions, Roof top quality is not up to the mark(while its rainig u will hear more sound in car ), Good in styling.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Features are same as of other cars, Interior space is good enough, Leg space is good. Even in top end some of the options are missing like ( their is no indication of avergae fuel milegae, where you found this option in hyundai i 10 top end version), no reverse parking sensors( all top end versions are faciliated with reverse parking sensors)Plastic quality is not up to the mark, Intrerior design to be improved as it doest givesa a class look, Boot space is quite less. their is no seat belt warning sound, Their is exact space at back for sitting 3 persons if widht is incresed then it will be some what free,for 3 stout persons it is difficult to sit comfortablly at back seat.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is good, smooth driving, . average milaeage on high ways with ac at 80 km/h is 17 km/ Ltr and in city 14 Km/Ltr. Slightly Sluggish in riverse and 1st gear, on high way I maintianed rpm 2500 ( 77 kmp/h ) with ac and I got mileage of 17.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is excellent, I learnt driving adter purchasing new wagnor r, and I learnt driving with in 3 days , you can make out good clearances while you are driving, Suspension area to be improved, but when fully loaded ( 5 persons ) pick up is very less, handling is excellent, with in a short radius you can take round. Power steering is excellent.With AC pick up is less.
Final Words One of the best family budjet car. Good for learners. Value for money.

We brought the all new WagonR VXi model on 18th December 2014 in exchange to our 17 year old Maruti Omni. As we have a long 17 year old association with Maruti Suzuki, we decided to continue the relationship with the most trusted brand in the Indian car market scenario 😊
As we are a tall family & I am 6 feet 2 inches tall boy, so WagonR was our only choice.
Exterior The exterior is decently designed. The blue eyed headlamps grabs eye balls wherever the car goes and are the first in its class. The new car is almost 80 mm longer than the older one which had a length of 3520mm compared to 3599mm of the new one. This surely increases the leg room to a great extent and makes the car stand apart from its competitors. The VXi and LXi versions have a height of 1700mm along with roofrails. This car has the best head room ever seen in any hatchback. The rear headlamps are bigger and the chrome grill with a WAGONR badge on it surely adds a definition to the car's rear. The front face has sharp sexy cuts especially along the fog lamps which appeals the overall impression of the car. VXi version comes with a rear wiper and deffoger thereby providing a great visual help in cold and foggy atmospheres.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Interiors are ergonomically designed. The VXi version offers a tilt steering wheel. The quality of plastics is good and the dashboard comes in beige and black along with silver trims which surely adds a good definition to the interiors of the car. It is one of the biggest dashboards I've ever seen. There is an additional small storage compartment above the glove box to store tin containers of soft drinks. Besides, there are 2 cup holders for the driver and the rear passengers. The car provides the best leg room and the best head room in its class. The front seats has a travel of 240mm which is highly adjustible for short and tall persons.
The boot space of just 180 litres disappoints for those who love to carry a lot with them on trips. The car offers a 60-40 rear sear splitting so that you can fold the seat and store more. But this is not preffered and the low boot space surely disappoints.
The instrument cluster is attractive. Speedometer and tachometer are analog whereas the odometer and trip meter are digital. The font size is appropriate and neither too big nor too small. However, the car doesn't displays the instantaneous mileage. Also there is no display indication of the unclosed doors as you see in a Swift. The car rings a chime signal if the driver's door is not closed properly. There is no indication of the unclosed passenger's door.
The most important feature of this car is the basket tray beneath the front passenger seat. You will find this intelligently designed feature only in Maruti Suzuki WagonR. You can use it to store valuables and also as a small basket during short picnics. The in-built music system from Nippon is fair. However, it lacks Bluetooth which is quite essential these days.
Rear parking sensors are also absent & one needs to externally fit them. I would recommend you all to go for Maruti Genuine Accessories in this case as fitment from the roadside vendors may cease your extended warranty of the car. Its always better to pay more to MGA for the rear sensors than to fit it outside and void your EW forever. A rear view sensor with LED display from MGA costed me Rs. 3200/-
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The car comes with 1 lite 3 cylinder light weight aluminium K10B engine with a plastic inlet manifold. Engine delivers a good torque of 90Nm @ 3500rpm. Power output is 68PS @ 6200rpm. The NVH is bad to my disappointment and you hear the engine in the cabin at low rpms. The engine stabilises at high rpms.
The engine response at high speeds is good. Engine is BS IV compliant with Onboard diagnostics OBD-II & I've heard that it is also E90 compliant. In the subsequent years, cars would use E85 & E90 engines which consists of 85% & 90% by volume Petrol alongwith 15% and 10% ethanol respectively.
Fuel economy is 15 kmpl in mixed traffic conditions of city and highway along with a minimum AC usage.
Gearbox is improved with new cable shift and detent pin technology compared to the link shift on the earlier model. It facilitates smooth shifting. However I found the top gear to be tough and demanded more muscular force.
Ride Quality & Handling The VXi model comes with 14 inch wheels. The suspension is good but not the best. You do feel the bumps. The car has a good grip on highways and retains stability even at high speeds of around 140-145kmph. Top speed is around 150kmph. The car has a power to weight ratio of 77PS per tonnes which is not good enough compared to the ALto K10's 88PS per tonnes, which uses the same engine. This could be the reason for the poor pickup of the car. WagonR generally stabilises at a high engine rpm & the engine loves to be revved.
Final Words The car is a good value for money package and will cost around 4.8 lakh rupees onroad. Its looks like a mini SUV and a perfect car for a small size family with tall members. The service of Maruti Suzuki is the best in the Indian car market and this car fulfills most of the expectations of a middle class buyer.
Areas of improvement NVH needs improvement. Rear sensors and bluetooth missing.

THIGH SUPPORT OFFERED AT THE REAR IS EXCELLENT AND MAY BE CLASS LEADING. INTERIOR LAY OUT IS MORE PROMISING THAN PREVIOUS GENERATION WAGON-R BUT STILL NOT UPTO THE COMPETITION. FIT AND FINISH IS AVERAGE WITH JIGGLES AND SOUNDS WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING OVER UNEVEN SURFACES. BOOT SPACE TO IS LESSER MAINLY DUE TO INCREASED WHEELBASE. AC HAS DECENT COOLING EFFICIENCY
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox THE 1.0 LITRE K10B ENGINE IS A GEM ACTUALLY BUT ITS IN THE WRONG PLACE. IT SHOULD NOT BE POWERING WAGON-R. FUEL EOCONOMY IS EXCELLENT BUT THE ENGINE FEELS TERRIBLY UNDER POWERED IN WAGON-R. SINCE ITS A 3 CYLINDER ENGINE THERE ARE SOME VIBRATIONS FELT ON STEERING WHEEL AN GEAR KNOB. GEAR THROW IS ACTUALLY SHORT BUT FEELS LONG SINCE THE GEAR KNOB IS LONGER. FREQUENT GEAR CHANGES NEEDED IN CITY DRIVING GETTING YOU MAD ESPECIALLY WITH AC ON . FUEL ECONOMY IS GOOD. I'AM GETTING SOMETHING ABOVE 15kmpl IN CITY WITH AC ON. I HAVENT CHECKED FUEL ECONOMY IN HIGHWAY.
Ride Quality & Handling SINCE ITS A TALLBOY THE SUSPENSION HAS BEEN TUNED TO FIRMER SIDE TO IMPROVE THE DRIVING DYNAMICS THIS HAS COMPROMISED THE RIDING SMOOTHNESS ALSO I THINK NOT MUCH OF DRIVING DYNAMICS HAS BEEN IMPROVED. TALLBOY=BODY ROLL. NOT FOR THOSE DRIVING ENTHUSIASTIC. BEST SUITED FOR A FAMILY ORIENTED PERSON.
Final Words EVEN THOUGH ITS A GREAT LEAP FROM PREVIOUS GENERATION WAGON-R, STILL ITS NOT PAR WITH OTHER CARS IN THE SEGMENT, IN SOME AREAS. BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY A MINIMUM 50K EXTRA ON OTHER CARS IN THE SEGMENT TO GET THE FEATURES THATS OFFERED BY WAGON-R, GIVING WAGON-R AN ACE OVER COMPETITION.

Exterior: A Great transformation from an old Wagon R to this one. Simple yet attractive design. I specially like the steel chrome at the back of this car.
Interior : Interior is no doubt is as luxurious as you could find in any other relatively expensive car in the market. Good in built music system( sony). nice and comfortable seats. enough space for front storage. I found AC powerful. additional storage under the seat of co driver. nice adjustment knob to the side mirrors( makes it attractive).
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: I think Maruti cars have best engines be it any version of the cars available in the market. Smooth, less noisy. Fuel is economic. I mostly drive in the city, still I get a mileage of 13-15km/ltr
Ride Quality & Handling: smooth and power stearing makes the right so comfortable even in sharp turns.
Final Words: Its a value for money. People who are looking to experience something that you think only expensive cars can give, go for Wagon R. Believe me it fulfils all your needs at such economic price. I am absolutely satisfied with this car. :)
Areas of improvement: My experience with this car has been awesome so far. But will definitely mention the areas of improvment if I come aross any, in my next blog.
