Instead of purchasing Wagon-R one should buy Maruti EECO 5 seater (with AC) because:-
1. EECO is taller and more spacious than Wagon-R.
2. Boot space in EECO 5 seater (with AC) is 540 litres whereas boot space in Wagon-R is only 180 litres.
3. Maruti EECO has got a 1200 cc engine with 4 cylinders and 16 valves whereas Wagon-R has got a 1000 cc engine with 3 cylinders and 12 valves.
4. (BHP) Power and (NM) Torque of engine of EECO is higher than engine of Wagon-R.
5. Tyres of EECO are thicker, bigger and better than tyres of Wagon-R.
6. Ground Clearence of EECO is more than ground clearance of Wagon-R.
7. EECO has got a more of heightened seating (like what is available in an SUV).
8. Body of EECO is made of metal whereas body of Wagon-R is made up of plastic.

Let me tell you my views about this car Frankly..!!
I have never liked the external design of this car, however still I bought it. Why is this so I will tell you.
We are a simple middle class family from Mumbai who can just afford an entry level new car. So before purchasing the car I was very passionate and I had made lot of search on net and with persons etc. This is our very first car. So we wanted the car. Hence we searched many cars, but since as I told you all that its our first car..everyone told us that you are a very small family of 3 members so go for a small car and Main Thing is that if this is your first car then Definelty go for Maruti Suzuki Car Only!! and this was told us not only by few ppls but approx about 80% ppls. So we have made 1 thing sure that now we should go for Maruti Car only.
Once our Brand is decided then, personally speaking I was fan of the New ESTILO...I just loved the looks of the car..very great and looked like the mini Innova. However on one day I visited to Maruti Showroom and sat on Estilos rear seat and found that the seat is pathetic not at all comfortable. I am a little fat person and 5 feet 9 inches in height, my legs were touching to front seats back side..and it was very diffucult to seat 3 ppls like my size on back seat. So Then and There only we Rejected the Estilo from our mind.
Now we started looking at other cars in that showroom..see how was our response
Alto: Never our choice
Astar: Out of budget
Estilo: Why rejected I just told u above
Swift: Out of budget
Ecco: Not our choice
So dear all...only car remained was WAGON R....!! so my Wagon R was not because of Choice but because I had not any other option!!
But Wagon R surely provided me the Good Rear Seat Space which can take 3 ppls like me comfortably and without touching my knees to front seats back side. So We Booked our New Wagon R. Firebrick Red Colour (color was my mother's choice). I have never liked the design of the Wagon R of Old and Even the New Model's also.
Exterior Firstly..Wagon R (old and new) I nver liked d design. Only good thing is that the front looks are improved in New Wagon R and which are surely good. But..But...But.... they AGAIN INCREASED THE HEIGHT OF THIS CAR....why why?
Really Why Maruti has increased the height of this car in new model when it was alrealy known for its Tall Boy Shape? Now is you see the car from sideview it gives u good look till mirrors but from mirrors to end of this car is pathetic look. Just like a box has kept. I really dont know why this Maruti Guys not making a dramatic change in looks of the wagon R as they have made in Zen Estilo? I am sure they could have made a car with decent curvey look with keeping the height of the car same as older model.
Frankly Speaking the Car is surely NOT EYE CATCHING...
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) HERE IS MY BIG BIG AND BIGGEST PROBLEM!!! The Dashboard Height is THE PROBLEM!! The dashboard is so heighed that its really difficult to take the judgement while driving in the city like mumbai in bumper to bumper traffice. They made the dashboard height tall but not the seat height!!
I am 5'9" person still I am facing such problems. What about the drivers which are shorter than me? and I sure that my height is not short i am only 3 inches short for 6 feet height. So what Maruti Guys expecting? is they expect that the Wagon R is Tall Boy shape car so Driver will be 6 feet and above? If is it so then its incorrect thinking of maruti ppls. becoz in India all know that ppls are around 5.5 feet tall and not only tall ppls but the wagon r but many ppls purchase it since wagon r has itself became a brand.
So this clearly shows I am very much disappointed by the dashboard height and the driver seat is not height adjustable. Frankly speaking before buying the car these small small things are surely not come if First Time Purchasers mind. So reader pls use my advice. Plastic Quality and seat are good. Dual tone interior gives good looks.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is good. Engine is responsive quickly. Smooth ride quality. No noice of engine. I have driven 2000 kms and so far so good engine performance
Fuel Economy is good:
City: 14 with AC
Highway: 18 with AC
Ride Quality & Handling Ride Quality is good, Effort less driving handling is smooth. Steering wheel is good size, not very small not very big and even not very thin and thick also. Its perfect steering wheel
Final Words Technically Car is good. But Dear ultimately it makes u tired after city driving in Mumbai. I have driven old Zen and new Hyundai i10 of my friend. Both gave enjoy while driving and not made tired. So thing 3 times before going for this car. Since What Maruti Has did is. They have fitted a same Engine in all the cars. Alto K10, Estilo, Wagon R, A-star etc only looks and chassis are different. So think on the comfortability of your car. Check whether it gives you nice feeling while driving or makes u tired.
My Suggestion would be. When you will buy any car.. or when u decide finally over a particular car then drive that car at least for 40 kms. Find your any friend any relative having the same car and drive it and then go for the final decision. So you will Not Regret your decision as I am feeling.
Areas of improvement A lot.. Dashboard height should be minimized, seat height adjustment shd be given, and overall looks shd be improved.

Exterior: Stylish and neatly curved and has cleverly removed the soap box like look from the old model.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): Good upholstery for the price and dual tone interiors, stylish gear knob and steering. But poor audio setup in Vxi model (I did not go for the Vxi only because of this). Tachometer is missing in Lxi which is very bad, the company should have given this in all models as this is very important.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: Gera changing is very smooth, thanks to the cable mechanism, engine performance is slightly lower with Ac in the third gear at low spped, will have to see in future (after first service).
Ride Quality & Handling: Very smooth and you will feel that you are sitting in a big car, because of the height and ground clearence.
Final Words: Overall it is really and good car and I really will appreciate my decision to go in for this family car with reasonable price and excellent service network of Maruti.
Areas of improvement: CD system in the Vxi models and the Tachometer should be given in all modles.

New suspension, New lights, New front grill, Wagnor logo chrome finish in back is unique in the class. All in all much better looks compared to old version. Looks like a mini SUV.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
The actual catch is here. On par plastic quality, nice console, neatly integrated music system, best sitting position, lots of space in rear too with class leading rear leg space. The vxi is loaded with
- All 4 power windows
- Central locking with remote keyless entry(for all 5 doors)
- dual horn and tilt steering
- front and rear defogger, rear wash and wiper(not common in many models)

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Although a 1000cc 3 pot engine, it is reasonably smooth. Gearbox is smooth. It needs a little more gas when ac is on and we drive at low rpm(its tuned for city driving and better mileage). Have driven some hundred kilometers and getting approximate average of 15+ in bangalore city traffic.
Ride Quality & Handling
Drivability is vastly improved. A newbie driver can easily handle it with confidence. Road grip is good with 14" wheels(only in VXI). The suspension is smooth. You can drive for a couple of hundred miles without fatigue. Can easily acomodate 5 adults easily. Its meant for city driving. The design doesn't permit racing type driving.
Final Words
Go for it if you practicality, comfort and value for money over style and speed. Although its not a bad looking car. You can't get a car with all these features in such a low price tag. Excelent package. But my suggestion to go for VXI which costs just 25k more and you don't need to spend much on accessories. It will be peace of mind. ABS and airbag will be an added advantage.
Areas of improvement
Still not catching the fit and finish of i10 interiors and plastic quality. Low end torque is little less. Can provide a better music system although not bad either, but USB support is missing which I feel is a bit let down. Steering mounted audio controls would have been icing on the cake.

Exterior Looks cool , once can feel the slicky sides look like mini SUV.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The best of best interiors better than my swift 😎. The Ac is wonderful , but some times it becomes a issue especially in 2nd gear. but in higher RPM it will be good.
For my old parents (60's) its like a cake walk for them to get into the car. My mother travelled only 1's in my old swift. Because she wont be able to get in since she needs to bend a lil. she has knee problem so i choosed a tall boy for myself as well my parents. I sold my 2nd hand Swift and got this vehicle.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is wonderful the K series proves . am pretty much confused about fuel. I myself was thinking how the hell did i get 19 - 20kmpl before 1st service.. Shifting from 1st to 2nd make me feel that something stucks. other gear shifts are cool . This is Cable shift so its hassel free.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is pretty decent, cannot compare to swift though. Because in worst roads / mud road Swift goes like swift but Wagon R i felt a lil bit more jerking and woubling. Handling I give 1000% assurity that this is the best car for a new bie driver. if you are a first time driver please go ahead and buy this.
My swift got lot of dents because it is a big car ... its tough to drive in bumper to bumper traffic like chennai .. experienced drivers may but am not ..for sure Wagon R is like taking a small kid. it will go firmly easily hassel free... worlds best car for bumper to bumper .. keep ur right foot down :)
Final Words I wish to say if u wanna drive this car for City please buy it with full happiness... but for highway this is good but times i feel Swift is more stable being a bigger car ..

Beat - It is very good but not tall boy so rejected . more over the rear leg space is very very little like a star
Figo - again its good but not a tall boy. its a bigger car but heard fuel sucks .
Spark, Fabia, Micra all these were not tall boys all were equaly good in driving but Fabia is the star out of all these. It has a quality of drive.
Astar - the worst car ever made by maruti... eveyrhint sucks except engine .
i10 i felt like santro and i heard a lot of complaints about hyundai that they have costly spares and worst in service. as for as heard it was true when i took TD. i took a review of 3 to 4 people who were customers of hyundai no one is satidifed so am afraid to go for Hyundai . i even dropped the plan to take a TD .. ( customer service is worst in hyundai )
Ritz - everything was great, i was about to book Vxi but for heaven sake i did notice the rear side .. so did not go for it . even though it is best engine i hate the rear shape its like someone kicked some Frock attacked to a Frog is how it looked.
Areas of improvement Wagon R is good in all aspect expect pick up with AC in 2nd gear am not sure why am not satisifed in this part alone.
Best in class fuel , looks like luxury car from inside, easy to manure in the trafficpickup in 2nd gear, I want to skip this 2nd gear

I own wagon r vxi , white color.I have driven over 6ooo kms in a period of 8 months.
Exterior Wagon r has never been a car with great looks , and is now.Although, it has improved upon its predecessor.The much talked about "blue eyed boy" does add defintion to style. Said that, it is tall boy car and the exterior/shape fits in. Use of chrome is good.
Space and Comfort: You get what you spent for. It is comfortable, Its is amazingly spacious.Perhaps, it is spacious to all the cars in the segment, including swift. Wide opening doors, makes ingress and exgress easy. head space is the best u can get.it is like a mini suv. leg space - again the best u can get.
Boot space It is less as compare to its predecessor and its competitors.But as a city it doesnt bothers much,nor it is too less to be worrisome. More over, if huge luggae is to be carried, split the rear seat(60:40) and you ll have the biggest boot u can imagine. Rear seat 3 person can sit comfortably.
Features: Vxi has rpm meter.The console is good an sporty with digital fuel meter. Tiltable steering column is also a good feature. Headlights are bright and sharp.Comes with both rear and fornt fog lamps. Demister is average. I am also using City and Fiesta,their demister is too good. Secret parcel tray under the co driver seat is unique and useful. Cup holders are strategically placed and adds spuk to car.
Glove box Small and untidy.A light in there would have been better. Boot lid is too hard.A light inside boot would have been better.
Music system Horrible.The maruti guys told me that the 'Nippon' music system is worth 14K(excluding 4 speakers).Sound quality is awful.No usb in.LCD display is dismal.Overall , music system is thumbs down.
Radio antennae Still convetional antennaes does not looks good.Must be replace by a sporty antenaaes as its competitors. Electrical ORVMS Good. Rear view mirror Good.(remote and car key are integrated together as one piece). Small in size.Also , it is not anti glare(as you find in the most of the cars). Electronic security system and key less entry, Power windows Good. Power steering Good.
Engine Performance: K series engine has prooved itself.68 power is good.Has driven it to 150, had nor problems.The sterring didnt wobble and car stuck on road, gave confidence to the driver. With ac on, acceleration is a problem in lower gears.Else no problem. I havent driven it on highways still, but it would run fine.
Fuel Economy
City (with ac) - 15-16
City (w/O ac) - 16-18.
Highway -sorry, havent driven it till yet.
Gearbox Good.Dismal show for 2nd gear with ac on.
Ride Quality It offers a decent ride qualtiy.Good shock abosrbers.Seats are comfortable with powerful ac.
Handling Best.Can turn and swivel like anything.Feels like a toy in hand.In traffic and jams it is a boon. Vxi offers 14" wheel base.Grips the road.Makes you feel comfortable.
Final Words A good family car.Refrehed.Maruti suzuki name adds unquestionable service.Wagon r has excellent re sale value. It has lots of space.(a driving factor for buying this machine).
Areas of improvement Light inside glove box and boot. The boot lid is too hard. Better quality of windshield to increase cabin noise reduction. Please provide better quality music system and speakers.(along with usb in). Sporty radio antennae instead of conventional one(looks ugly). Inside the hood , the wiring is loose and doesnt looks good.Could have been and should be done neatly.

Before sharing my views on various aspects of car i would like to set the context:
I own a new wagon r (with k series engine) vxi model(without abs and airbags) white in color.Its been with me since 5 months and driven around 4k kms in city only. My decision to buy wagonr was very analytical and it took some time to zero in.The determining factor in favour of wagonr were:
1)I wanted a petrol car.
2)space- hugely spacious,specially legsapce-u wont get better than this,headroom.
3)maruti brand value-reliability,ease of maintenance,good resale value.
Exterior No matter what the company says,r madhavan says, blue eyed beauty is not handsome.Yes it is much better to its predecessor but still the company can work on its aerodynamics and front styling while maintaining its tall boy structure.Good use of chrome and metallic front grill would be good.Nevertheless,no one buys a wagon r if one wants style.So did i compromised on exterior styling.
Also as a youngster- sepecially a bachelor- it does not suits you,whereas for a family man it is apt.Hence now my father drives wagonr and i drive his sedan.
The most important point is policemen take for granted that the person driving a wagonr cannot be at fault. 😉
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are quite good.The cabin ambiance is pleasing.The front panel has a bold nice look.Plastic quality could have been better.
Music System Forgetful!!!maruti folks told me that it is worth 14k(excluding speakers).Believe me it is not worth a penny.They have used a nippon system.(c'mon!!!).
Wipers- Front and rear good.But lack of variable speed option.Should have been given.
Space- Legspace, Headroom- Master of all(eg: swift, ritz, figo, i10, i20, alto k10, astar, esilto, acccent, santro)
Seats-Good,comfortable.
Odometer-Painted with permanent dazzling orange strokes - unnecessary,else nice. Remote access and central locking-Very good. Automatic ORVM-joystick used is simply SUPERB.
Cabin noise reduction-Very less.Should improve on this.i10 rules in this regard.
Wide open cabin doors.Comfortable to get in.
Innovatice glass holders near ac vents-but dont know why they could not fix the chrome part at drivers side (it is detachble)as they did it for the adjoining seat.
Innovative storage tray beneath driver's adjoining seat.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Fuel Consumption- I bought this car for city travelonly.It gives an average of 16+ (till second service not done, i.e.at 5k kms or 6months, whichever is earlier).
Performance- Drove at 140kmph.Decent drive.Good pickup.You feel slightly for torque.Overall-very good.
Gearbox- Superb.Cable shift gear.Smooth,fantastic.
Ride Quality & Handling Handling-USP of car.Highly maneuverable.Fantastic steering.Best for indian traffic.Can zip through almost anywhere.Handling is as simple as a toy.
Ride Quality- Decent.
Rear defog lights- Dismal show.
14" wheels- only with vxi model. Stabalizes the car.
Final Words good car.though does not suits me.still a perfect family car.
Areas of improvement Cabin noise reduction,exterior styling,music system,rear fog lights-pathetic,boot lid is too hard to open. Under the hood-could have been better.wires are messy.

Spacious, 5 persons can travel comfortably. good for taller people. Good leg Space for all.I like the Dashboard and crome styling. Seats are comfortable.

Gave me 17.90KML with AC in City + highway (I have travell in this car for more than 1500KM)
Ride Quality & Handling
Ride is smooth and comfortable on rough roads.
Final Words
Go with this car if you are looking for a family car. I tested i10, Beat, but i feel best is wagon 1.0 if you are looking for Space, driving comfort, fuel economy, value for money and a Family car.
You dont have to worry abt fuel economy. I guess maintenance as well.

Can improve on the rear windows. I liked the rear window of old wagon R, it looks better.
it will be excellent if audio controls are provided on stearing.

Exterior Some people may say that they dont like the boxy design, but as far as I'm concerned you wont get a spaciuos car like WagonR if the design is not like this at this budget. If you are too much worried about design dont go for WagonR. WagonR is designed for people who want big spaciuos interiors and thats too within average budget. I have owned other branded premium vehicle, but they are too costly to maintain. People who are suggesting to choose some other brand are not aware about the after sales and service. You will face real difficulty in finding service centers for other branded vehicles and their maintainence cost is too high. I would like to clarify one more thing, if you are expecting a heavy performance based vehicle with premium features, design and interiors dont go for WagonR. Its for middle class family who would like to use the vehicle in an economical way. All the bad reviews sounds like bull shit to me. I dont know why they are comparing this vehicle with top end models.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The best interior space you may get in this range. Its too much spaciuos. You can sit relaxed without any strain for long and short journeys. The wide open doors is an amazing feature which makes the entry easier for very big people. The Vxi model is equipped with all features like power windows, child lock, internally adjustable ovrm, two dom light etc. There is no rear vent for AC, but the AC is powerfull so it can reach rear within no time. The headroom is spacious for enough air circulation inside the cabin. The boot space is less as new wagonR is having an increased interior space for passengers with wide open doors. Even if the boot space is less, you can hold the luggage inside the passenger cabin.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine performance is good. There is a small lag at initial phase but it will be sporty after crossing 2500rpm. With AC, you will feel a lag at first, but it will be fine after 2500 to 3000rpm. As a family oriented car, this engine is too good.
Fuel economy is the best for new k10 series WagonR. I have completed more than 15000Kms in my WagonR and its giving me more than 20Km/L in highways and 16 to 17Km/L in city. Please note that I drove the vehicle at normal speeds (max 70Km/hr) and the gear shifts are done around 2500rpm to 3000 rpm.
Gear box is very light and easy to handle. Its too soft. Engine is very silent. I tried to start the engine when it was running thinking that its not on (now you understand how much silent it is)
Ride Quality & Handling You will enjoy the drive in new WagonR. The handling is good at normal speed range. I m not sure about the handling at higher speeds as I never crossed more than 75Km/hour in my vehicle. The electronic power steering is just nice to tackle in city traffic and in highways.
Final Words Its an awesome car for middle class family with good mileage and performance. Again this car is not for person who want awesome design and racing car like performance. A real tension free car with no complaints. Go for it!!! ( A honest review from a Proud owner of WagonR).
Areas of improvement The plastic quality is definitly a main thing that need to be improved. I'm satisfied with all other specs that WagonR offers.

Exterior The new Wagon R comes with good looks with good styling of head lamps and blue eyed boy style which is very appreciable, over all looks is very nice and boxy looks has been totally abolished, thanks to maruti. Car body also solid and well protected against mishappenings, so no worry just drive and enjoy.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors of New Wagon R is not only amazing but also worth praising, it comes with cup holders and better glove box and very comfortably designed passenger and driver seats. It gives you a feeling of driving heavy vehicles and driver seat is adequately raised for comfortable driving for long hours with clear view all around, company fitted music system (sony) is very good and comes with a remote. Overall i can say that it is not crampy like our other hatchbacks and everything negative noted in older versions have been corrected to a extent.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance of Wagon R Lxi CNG model is very nice and too far better then localy fitted cng from market and you can feel that only when you drive that, you will not be able to notice the power drop and fuel switching at all with ac on as well, engine is adequately powered 998 cc for comfy and faster rides. Fuel economy is far better then other hatchbacks, it has given me a 19 kmpl with petrol and 23 on cng in city, well it all depends upon riding style. CNG filling is very comfortable and the nozzle is situate just beside petrol filling. Gearbox has been newly designed with wire shift mechanism and is so smooth you will hardly notice the gear changes.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride is smooth and long distances can be covered without hesitation, handling is superior and gives great pleasure not tireness after driving, Its electronic power steering is very good and comfortable for city drives.
Final Words All I can say that anyone planning to buy a car and living in CNG metros should buy this car for more savings and good performance, misinformation like CNG is bad for engine is all rubbish as all car manufacturers can not provide cng fitted cars, maruti is giving one year extra warranty on all its cng vehicles just because cng is less harmful to engines then other fuels which not only accumulates carbon and dust but is costly also, the day will come when conventionaly fuelled cars will be banned due to increased pollution and cng cars will not only run but will rule the roads.
Areas of improvement This car can be improved upon better steering column, an rpm monitor should be installed and more freebies like bumper protector should be given like other companies.
