Swift is value for money due to its fuel efficiency and at the same time its the only small car which actually makes a difference when parked alongside mid sized cars. Driving it gives the feel of a car bigger than it actually is. Overall its fun to drive in city or on the highway. It has got adequate power and seems to pull along pretty well even with the AC working.
The best part is that it even drives really marvellously the off road. I have always felt confident behind the steering in all situations. The only drawback is the rather small boot and less spacious rear seat. Still its much better than i-10 and the indicas.
All in all a good contender for the small family car of the year. 😊

As an Engineer, Swift is a designer's dream to bring out a perfect car with lots of conflicting goals, such as cost, fuel economy, safety, styling and least cost of ownership. I own a Swift ZXi for the last 20 months and have done 24,000 km and drive about 1500 Km per month. I get a cool ( with AC on always) 14.5 Km per litre. It takes both rough roads and highways with ease and stability and high speeds. The flat torque performance amazes me everytime. The one car company which really understands the customers and sets a benchmark for rest to follow is Maruti Suzuki. Great job. No doubt that they have sold 3,00,000 of this great car. I will again buy a Swift only.

I had driven this car for a week, related to my friend. My observations. Windows outlook, Low hight of driver seat, top extension of front & back lights. Extrordinary perfromance. slight modifications in the car will capture total world market.
It was more spacious and convinient for the entire family to go outside even for a long distance wiothout any inconsistency. Hope it is clear for me to say this vehicle is accidental free designed for whcih have more base weight to with stand without tilting from the accidents.
My feeling to say, a little hight needs to be increased for small drivers to view the road while driving. Otherwise an option can be kept to adjust the height of the driver seat for anybody to drive at their convinient.

It is a good car for small families.
I10 lacks the space that swift has. These are two different segment cars. I would prefer a swift to an i10 because of the space.
I10 has way better interiors than the swift. Its interiors knock the sh** out of the swift interiors. Swift has bulky interiors. It is a question of a good looking cramped car or a spacious ugly from the inside car. Drive wise, swift has offered the best driving pleasure after the older Zen(among 5-door hatchbacks). I have driven swift on long drives, 1K KM and have been satisfied with the performance.
I have not driven i10 on similar lines. Though have driven it extensively in the city.

I am impressed with the pickup and fuel effeciency of this car. That is why the performance of this car increases due to this.
With the name of maruti this is the best small car. It is very stable even at speed of 120 Kph. It look like a completely sedan
Interiors are quite good. AC is very-very powerful. Very balance car. Engine is very compact . I will recommend the car who does not have the time to decide, they can blindly go for this car. It is very artistically designed for modern generation. It can easily be compared with Sokada Fabia. But it will be great if the lagguage compartment have some more space for luggages. It is also true that bumbers are too big and in extreme weather condition it will worn and must be very costly to replace.

When a neighbour bought the Maruti Swift model and I saw its curved hood, the first thing that came to mind was the adorable car in the film Love Bug. The Swift is similarly cute to look at. With its great-looking headlamps and cool-looking grille, the front section does look like a human face! From the outside, it looks like a really small car.
When I got a chance to sit inside the Swift,though, the earlier impression of smallness was laid to rest. There is good head room and leg room in fact, a tall passenger on the back seat also expressed his surprise at the comfort behind after initial doubts whether he would be able to squeeze his long frame inside. The drive was a fairly short one, so cannot really comment on its overall driveability,but the Swift seemed easy to maneouveure in the citys traffic. More important, since it was small in width, it could be easily fitted into a limited parking space without any problems.

I'm a 56 yr old car lover who has owned a Maruti 800, a Premier 118NE and a Maruti Esteem prior to buying a Swift VDi. In the last one and a half years, I have driven the Swift 18,000 km -- mostly on long drives (being a retired person settled in Jamshedpur, my driving in Jamshedpur is negligible). Let me share my wonderful experience with the Swift VDi in the subsequent paragraphs.
The best thing in the car is undoubtedly the engine. It is a gem -- a product of state-of-the-art technology. Max torque of 190Nm comes at a low 2000 RPM -- this gives amazing acceleration, overtaking ability and hill climbing ability. Furthermore, peak power of 75 BHP comes at only 4000 RPM -- which means that even a 'common' driver can enjoy the peak power once in a while unlike the petrol Swift where peak power comes at 6000 RPM -- how many people other than rally drivers have you come across who rev their engine to 6000 RPM?
And the icing on the cake is that this superb engine generates all that torque and power by consuming very little fuel! On long drives I easily get 23-25 kmpl with AC and 24-27 kmpl without AC depending on road conditions. And I normally don't try to set mileage records by driving slowly at a constant speed. I usually drive between 80-120 kmph. Of course, my driving style is good -- not too much braking and fast accelerations. Getting 25 kmpl, that too with cheaper diesel, feels great. I always use non-premium diesel, as advised by a Maruti engineer.
The handling of the car is good -- I have driven it upto 160 kmph and the car felt rock steady. The electronic power steering is just right. Brakes are very effective. The hydraulic clutch is smooth and does not require much force.
The suspension feels nice, strong and reliable -- I have driven extensively over broken and potholed roads (Jharkhand is notorious for them!). But there are two things I don't like -- during 'bottomings' the front suspensions give out a metallic clang -- I find that sound very jarring. Secondly, the ground clearance is too low -- especially below the front bumper. The bottom of my front bumper has been scraped many times and the rubber lining under the bumper keeps getting yanked off on bad roads. I must clarify that this happens despite the fact that I drive extremely slowly and cautiously on broken / potholed roads -- after all it is my personal car bought with my hard earned money and I want it to last long.
The interiors of the car should have been much better. They look plasticky and cheap. Not even dual-coloured! The interiors of my Esteem were far superior.
Coming now to maintenance -- this car hardly needs any. In the last 18,000 km, the main scheduled routines were two oil changes. The way this engine has been designed and put together, I don't forsee any major maintenance before it clocks at least 1,50,000 km.
All in all, I think this car has been an excellent purchase decision. Runs economically on diesel, negligible maintenance, great pick-up and power, great handling, comfortable ride quality, good looks -- what more can a small car enthusiast ask for?

I have maruti swift lxi.I purchased this car in january 2007. This is my first car,and iam very satisfied with it. Before the purchased of this car, Idid not know to drive. I am belong to middle class family and I know the value of money.
At the time of purchasing I was totely confused to bye which one. I am a govt. servent,and this was a tuff dicision to bye a car (even a small car) but i wish to purchase of MARUTI'S small car, because I fully belive in maruti. At that time there were so many model in maruti like maruti 800, alto, wegnar,and zen also.santro, pailo, indica are other option,but iwnted to change my attitute to bye new degine. In 2005, maruti swift launched,and I felt to font of it. My budget was so low,and i could not think to purchase maruti swift. I did study in internet and went to the your weveside.I got the lot of knowldge about the different cars.To know about the swift 's description, Idecide to purchase this one,although I had no budget to purchase maruti swift.

I got the car in the month of january 2009. Mine is SWIFT ZXI petrol model.
The performance of the car is amazing. It has good luxury features whch even some of the costly cars does not have.
The only dissappointment is it delivers low mileage, but the dealers say that W'll get more only after 3000kms is done. but that doesn't matters for me because I'm rare user of the car once or twice in a week.
Any way I like the car very much because of its styling,performence,features,space etc......
