Ritz vxi was purchased in 2011 as we required a hatchback for local runs in Mumbai
This is not our first vehicle.
Currently we have
Audi A4( 2012 model -7000 kms done),
Toyota Corolla(2007 model -55000 kms run)
Ritz VXi( 2011 model, 12000 kms run)
Hyundai i10 Kappa2(2011 model, 50000 kms)

2011 - Ritz vdi( Bangalore, sold 2013, 45000 kms good that I sold it with 2 years else god only knows what failures I would have had to see. I've written a review on my Ritz vdi on mouthshut)
We had problem with Ritz vxi from first month of ownership
Burning smell coming while running . This was present from the first day, servicecentre people never able to find out, it went when I replaced clutch at my own expense at 10000 kms, I have never changed clutch in any of my previous cars . service centre people telling that I don't know to drive . Maruti always right in commenting when I never faced this issue in any of the other cars and still going strong .Mileage was around 8 kms in city from day one till we changed the clutch at 10000 kms . This shows that the car had a faulty clutch from beginning
Wiper motor had to be replaced as it got rusted( within 2 yrs of ownership, never I have changed this in any of my cars)
Clutch and all the components had to be replaced at 10000 kms( Ten Thousand Kms had to spend around Rs.8000 for this). After replacing clutch, mileage is 14 in city with AC, 18-19 on highway
Body panels have already started rusting, all the 4 window pane steel panel have rusted,
Fuel gauge developed error, now a days it never shows full . even if I fill it to top also, it will show 1 or 2 blocks less, Pathetic quality control from Maruti. This was working properly in the beginning

All cars are parking at same place inside my building and none of my vehicle has got rusted anywhere expect Ritz.
Even after have driving experience on so many cars, none of the vehicle clutch plates had to be changed anytime till I sell the car
Maruti service centre people will tell that driving is not proper so clutch is gone bad, this is inspite Ritz is driven mostly single person and you can see how less its being driven around( 10000 kms / 3 yrs= 3333 kms per yrs)
Most of the companies have gear box oil change interval of 1 lakh kms, but maruti had 20000 kms, This should make customers realize the poor quality of oil used by them.
Many have body antirust warranty for 6+ years, I don't even think Maruti will offer this . They can't as they know about their quality of parts
Maruti sells vehicles with very poor parts and puts blame on customer for their failure, Need to see how long does this company run like this . I will never recommend Maruti products to any of my friends nor family members and even in my company will let my colleagues know about the pathetic quality . Guys never buy Maruti, their diesel car sells just due to FIAT engine, else they would have lost the market by now

The 1.3 MJD from Tata-FIAT has stormed budget Cars market. Like "A" Segment, "B" segment,there should be a 1.3 MJD Segment.
7 Cars with different strengths are analysed:
1. LINEA 1.3 MJD. It is the largest, most comfortable, heaviest and also the fastest..!! Engines is retuned for 90 BHP (75-80 in others) to cruise upto 175 KMPH. Its style, features, safety etc. are better than some of higher "D" segment vehicles. Best part is service interval is long 15000 Km. Running cost is very economical for the package of the size,
2 & 3. Swift-D & D'Zire-D. Hottest selling cars. Long waiting period tells the story of success. Although space is cramped in both cars. Maruti has retuned engine (DDIS) for good mileage. This has resulted in frequent service interval of 7500-8000 Km. FIAT 1.3 MJD is the biggest seller in these forms.
4.Grande PUNTO. Best driving pleasure is in this form. Good power is delivered at low RPM. The cabin space is largest in upper "B" segment, also after Linea GP has Max space in 1.3 MJD family. Hatch style makes it easy to steer in city. High ground clearance is an added advantage. Mileage is lower than Maruti peers for this safe, heavy car. Long service interval of 15000 Km is a big advantage.
5. Vista 1.3 Quadrajet. Best Value for Money Diesel car. Good space, economical maintenance, solid build make it excellent all round package.
6. RITZ-D. The most spacious among Maruti stable. Although styling is not the best of appeal...It offers good mix of Power, Comfort, Mileage mix. Only draw back can be its tallboy design and falling rear that makes it risky, at high speed. Its good as comfortable city car for a small family, driving pleasure is completely missing.
7. PALIO 1.3 MJD. Even though, it is the oldest, still is the most beautiful looking (after Linea). It has fallen victim of Premier Auto legacy and FIAT's poor engine selection 1242 & 1596 Petrol & heavy 1910 Diesel till 2007 and poor service network before 2007.
Tata-FIAT has taken care of added safety with standard Twin Headlamps and Rear Fog lamps. Hope Maruti will follow.
RITZ-D or any other car, 1.3 MJD offers the Best choice to buyers.
Expect 8th car soon...Indigo VISTA 1.3 MJD by Diwali.

Ritz is very costly, as it is similar to Wagon R and Zen STILO, but price phenominaly higher in Petrol models.Maruti never bothers to pass on the scale of mass production to buyers. In Diesel MARUTI Cars are having same 1.3 MJD as in FIAT Palio, Tata Vista....But price difference is huge. Indigo CS Dsl...a saloon costs at par with Ritz Petrol models.If you look for something refreshing try Grande PUNTO, coming in next 2 weeks along with Honda Jazz. As usual Japanese will over-price their cars (& spares too) Punto should be excellent VFM. LINEA has re-written rules, forcing Honda to go for aggressive sales promotion, still City sales are not moving up and CIVIC sales also plateuing. LINEA has same 1.3 MJD but re-tuned to churn out more excitement.Its time to give more serious looks to Tata-FIAT cars.

Exterior Well, the aerodyanamic shape of the car is good, muscular, unique in the segment. The colors available in Ritz are not as good as those of swift. I think superior white should be replaced by pearl white, even the red color in ritz is not good. the boomrang shaped tail lamps are nice but it doesn't appeal everyone. the headlamps looks great but somehow on highways you should go in for more powerful bulbs, the fit and finish of the car is very good , the bumpers should be replaced by the flexible propylene bumpers like that of figo.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are very nice, spacious, the dashboard is too big so the bonnette is not visible at all, the cabin mirror should have been day night, the center console of the dashboard is very nice incorporating the gear stick , the seats are very soft and comfortable. THE REAR SEATS DOES NOT HAVE HEADRESTS BUT IT CAN BE INCORPORATED FROM OUTSIDE . EVEN THE POWER WINDOWS ARE AVAILABLE AS MARUTI GENUINE ACCESSORIES, . THE FRONT TWO POWER WINDOWS +REAR HEADRESTS COST YOU JUST 9000 RS EXTRA. Headroom is really nice in the car, even the legroom is decent.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine is extra ordinary , If you will compare with ford figo this engine is more silent, more fuel efficient, the ritz gives more mileage than indica vista and punto , polo. This engine does not need the synthetic oil used in polo or figo so the cost of oil is less. The engine is CHAIN DRIVEN so you need not change the engine belt lifetime, the torque of the engine so good that you dont need to switch off AC even the car is loaded.
Ride Quality & Handling Handling of the car is decent, not great on high speeds like polo, punto or figo, suspension is Ok no complaints about it but its not as great as that in polo, punto, indica vista. handling of the car in city is very good , the steering is nice, responsive. Brakes are OK , on highways you will have to be a bit careful at high speeds. ENGINE BEING VERY POWERFUL IF YOU CAN AFFORD PLEASE GO FOR ABS VERSION.
Final Words If you want a value for money car at reasonable price with great resale value + hassle free maruti service network + reasonable spare parts + fiat diesel engine + family car, It has to be Ritz or Swift

Exterior
Absolutely stylish and peppy. Good for the age group of 25-35 years. Has a stunning look from all angles. Front grill is sporty and elegant at the same time. Back light might not appeal to many but is a class apart in the segment.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
If it comes to space...this is it. Absolutely spacious, gives you a cockpit style feeling. Controls mounted at a comfortable positions. Gear shift is excellent.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
The best way to judge the power is go for a Test drive. 0-60 is smooth, then just push that pedal and it shoots off as a Bullet... touching 110-130 at no time in fact I have driven the car at speeds of 150+ on highways and the car is rock solid... no vibrations, no wobbling, no knocking... it just goes on and on. On city it would give you 18-20 KM/L. I had compared it with PUNTO, SWIFT and Getz, nothing comes close to a RITZ. Ride is smooth, good ground clearance and great suspensions.

Good Fuel Economy, Stylish Appearance, High seats, Ample Leg room, Good Space, enough for 5 people.Could have given the rear De-fogger too or steering mounted controls.

Exterior
A car that has character and looks stylish. I bought the firebrick red car on 21st June 2012 after considering figo and swift as alternates. Figo though is comfortable to drive, has issues with ground clearance, rear height, rear seat having no head rest, and partially opening rear windows. Swift has a long waiting period and is too common on the road. Swift also does not have as much space as ritz at the rear.

Very spacious. Can easily seat 3 at the back. I like the placement of the gear knob, has a great feel. Seats at the front and back are well designed. Interiors are good.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Very smooth ride. Diesel version has the grunt typical of diesel engines, but is not noisy. Pickup is great and gear changes are smooth, like the click when the gear shifts. I am first time driver, so have been driving 2nd gear for practice. But I have still got over 15 kmpl.
Ride Quality & Handling
Smooth ride and handling. Very comfortable to drive.

Overall a great car. You will not have any disappointments.
Areas of improvement
Spent Rs 20,000/- on accessories. Maruti does not give anything free especially for diesel cars. I got a leather (rexin) seat cover for 4,500/-, Pioneer DVD music system for 7,200/-, Rear oval speakers 500W pioneer for 3,200/-, Front door speakers for 1,500/-, Rear tray (wooden) Rs 400/-, Steering cover (leather, stiching) for Rs 450/-, Remote central locking with reverse horn for Rs 2,900/-

I was waiting to get hands on this car,certainly becouse I was cursing my self to book a tata vista qdj, two days before the launch, so I went in the frame of mind that I will book this one insted and cancel the booking of tata vista qdj.
I t was 17th a sunday,and usual the dealership was full and ther was no one to attend me, and was given the waiting time of 5 minsfor an attended in the mean while I started examing a display model.
I found out that it was totaly what I was looking for a small desil car which can be parked easily as it is smaler of lenght and the looks were not that good which i used to asume by seeing its pics on the net.
Here is what I found.
pros:-easy to park,front look was good,driver seat was very comfortable,60:40 split in rear seat which comes handy at times
Cons:-Does not look as great as found in net pics,interiors was no where in comparison to that of i10,rear seat was not as spacious.
After this when I got the chance to Test drive ,here is what I found.
pros:-Engine is more refined than any other car in the segment, A sedan look from the drivers seat and best drivers seat by maruti as for sure,gear shift was same as in swift,ride was also same as that of swift, could not test on pot holes .
Cons:The pick up or the power I should say was again lagaing in around 1000 rpm but above 2000 it was totaly diferent.same which is in the swift.
I coudnt find any other fault may be some other may or may not.

Exterior Great exteriors,very sporty look.Front looks as if sedan.Even the rear looks great.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very stylish interiors,Dual coloured dashboard looks very appealing.Seats are very confortable.Great leg and head room.This car is a blessing for tall people.Rear seats are more comfortable even than Swift.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is very responsive and it dosn't loose power in sudden slow or high speeds.Gear shifting is excellent.No sound of gearbox and practically negligible sound of Diesel engine.Fuel economy best in its class.Gives 22-23 kmpl on highways and 17-18 kmpl in city (both with A.C on).
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality better than swift and one feels confident in sharp turns.Car handling is good for taller peron,however this car is recommended for short height people as they might face problems in visibility.
Final Words Winner all the way.Younger and taller brother of Swift. A good family car and due its look it is going to be a best seller in the coming days.
Areas of improvement Rear visibility should be improved a bit ao that shorter people dosn't experience any problems while reversing.Otherwise a wonderful vehicle.Kudos to maruti.

Exterior Dis-balanced looks - front overtly simple, back overtly flamboyant. However, i think thats what happens to maruti cars; the same happened with original zen, wagon R and now Ritz - these win over by performance and not by looks.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Height adjustable driver seat and steering useful. steering mounted audio controls come handy. audio quality 6.5/10. gear handle location convenient. plastic and fittings poor - my overhead rear view mirror came off (believe I didnt hang on it). driver side door inner plastic cover knob loose - I had to bang it in place. Maruti could have charged few more thousand and give a better deal (look at new Wagon R interiors - much superior plastic material).
Boot space is good (~250L) - more than swift, I 10. 60:40 split increases the usefulness of space utilization.
Reminder alarms for headlights, key in ignition, seat belts, door ajar are useful.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine fantastic, responds to acceleration nicely. FE ~13-14 in chandigarh city drive (which is now becoming trafficy, and requires frequent gear shift) before first service (first 700Km). gearbox conveniently located.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good. power steering is good. driver sear height and adjustability is a big advantage (those who have driven wagon R, Santro know what it means to have height while driving). overall a smooth experience.
Final Words Thumbs up. cant get a better deal for 5L.

Exterior The styling on the front is excellent with the Audi style grill and the sharp headlights make it look very aggressive and bold. The wheel arches on the rear lend a balanced look to the rear. The new boomerrang shaped tail lights make the car stand out in the crowd. The sides look brilliant with the tall stance of the car.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Best interiors in the hatchback segment by Maruti in a very long time. Convenient storage spaces with the coin holder on the dash been very useful. The under seat tray is hardly useful, cup/bottle holders on the door could have been placed better. Nice fit & finish in the center console with a good silver lining to it. Very comfortable seats & the tall body design makes it getting in and out an ease for all. Rear glass is a bit small but you get used to it with time. Fuel indicator is digital and very useful. Great placement of the RPM meter which aids while driving especially on the ghats.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Amazing engine. The best of the petrol engines among i10,polo,i20,ford figo,beat. I test drove all of these cars and the engine response with ritz is the best. very light and peppy. Have done a highway trip to goa & back,total of 1200km on highway and got millage of 16.7km/l with full AC and speeds varying with top speed of 165km/hr
Gear box is very smooth and you just need your fingers to change gears. Very comfortable placed also.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is among the best in the competition. Though ride quality in polo is better but ritz rules over all other departments. There is slight body roll when over the ghats, but thats so minimal that you get used to handling that over time. Amazing handling and passenger comfort in ritz. NVH levels excellent with almost no engine noise in cabin. Slight noise of the tyres at high speeds but that is acceptable.
Final Words This is a must buy car for a small family & a complete VFM. Go ahead with this car without any doubts at all. I have completed 2000km on my Ritz Vxi within 20 days of delivery. Just love driving this car. Had exchanged my 4 year old Swift for this Ritz and I do not regret taking that decision.
Areas of improvement MISL can provide tyres that are put up with the zxi model in all models. This does make a big difference in the ride quality & handling. Or at least provide the customer with the option of selecting wider tyres at extra cost. Should provide remote locking also in Vxi models. one area MISL lacks is in packing the car with features as compared to its competition.
Gear box, Engine, Styling, Interiors, RPM meter, Gr8 VFMtyres of 185/70 in vxi wuld hv been a boon, very slight body roll
