Exterior A beast which can turn a lot of heads on road. Only BMW can match in terms of having people admire at your vechicle.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Less said the better. Need few thousands if you like to have a pleasing dash board. First aid a must if you use place our hands any where near the dash board without being careful. Need to keep kids away from touching the dash board or playing around.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Consistently has given a milage of 13 to 13.6 in bangalore traffic. Gives around 308 to 320 km of drive with 1000 rs diesel in bangalore. Diesel price 42.36. Moves with out even touching the accleration in 1 and 2nd gear. Stop a go traffic is breeze.
Ride Quality & Handling Fantastic.. Have driven other suv, sedan, hatchbacks, and small cars but never felt comfortable driving in city. Not that comfortable at turnings above 60 -70kph. Fear of toppling comes to your mind.
Final Words You will never think of selling it once you buy it.

I got THAR last year and over all I realized that besides the engine and the exterior look the rest of it cuts such a sorry figure. The interior is a big let down,parts like the door handle,locks,door knobs,A/c knobs are of such poor quality that they have broken into parts literally in my hand,add to that you hardly find them in stores,add to it again that even the stores in the dealer workshop dont have them. The A/c has conked thrice in the last one year. The A/c grill is such that it blows air in a way if u can manage to ride sitting in between the seats only.
Its been weeks now and the customer cell from Mahindra's put me onto the head of workshop who after promising to get back last week is yet to call.
Its such a sad reflection to see the way Thar is treated. I drive it anyways with all my door handles/knobs etc broken [alongwith the back door handle dangling on the outside too] and hope i discover them in some store someday.

Exterior The only and only advantage is exterior & its style.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Even I know jeeps are not comfortable but this has nothing in name of comfort and interiors. Thar has used the worst and down market plastic for their interiors handles from inside are about to be dislocated in every two or three days and the best part is that company workshops dont have any replacements for that.. Window glass is of very down quality it simply gives reflection that is very dangerous while night driving and the list goes on.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Gear shifting is one major problem

Final Words Overall it has the worst after sale services i havent seen the more incompetent staff. You have to visit atleast 3 times for single problem and that too if you knew the solution then only it can be resolved. The car comes with soo much negatives that it is a sheer waste of time for discussing.. I never suggest any one to go for Thar instead of that if you like these jeep kind of SUV then Tata Xenon is far much better i have a xenon about a year older than THAR it still drives better and gives me good adventorous feeling.. These remarks are my personal in view of JEEP type vehicles.

Exterior Mahindra has a made a point by maintaining the JEEP heritage look, for those like me who fell in love with what was made by GM for Vietnam and later for the second WW, its beauty cannot be described in words. Its unmistaken simple lines which shout "functionality" every which way you look at it makes you feel like a REAL MAN ready to take on any difficulty that comes your way, both physically and mentally. Just looking at it standing makes your heart jump. The suspension has been raised significantly from the old MM540 and so it takes on a more bullish stanz. Proportions are just perfect, everything about the exterior of this jeep is eye pleasing. I would have left out the large Mahindra logo below the windshild. There is no one else in the world that makes these jeeps (other than wrangler GM) and Mahindra really need not shout out so loud in India with this logo. The front Mosquito mesh is not a standard fitment and must be ordered to complete the look. A couple of hellas, a winch and a shovel on the side would complete the look. I really need not talk about the borg warner trasfer case, the name itself explains the quality and function. The gear box is mated perfectly with the engine. The shift is very smooth. I would have asked for the gear lever to be a little higher for easier accessibility.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The bucket seats along with the front independent suspension make it a pleasure to drive around town, other than the off center steering wheel, the ride is very comfortable. There is ample space inside the cabin and I would not mind taking this to office everyday. I would have loved to have a factory fitted ac option with the rear cabin better insulated on top and the sides like the one on top in the drivers cabin. It would mean no need for the hard top. The plastics are tacky and mahindra could have used something from the scorpio or the xylo bin to make the dash a little more better looking and functions. There are NO features other than the heater inside. But hey, these are improvements, the raw look is also great. no complaints.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Absolutely superb, with 105 horses, it is one of the fastest jeeps you will find on indian roads. The CRDe engine is very silent and the torque is just fantastic. The borg warner transfer case is very smooth to shift on the fly. My jeep is 15 days old and has only 1500 kms on it, it gives about 12 to 13 kms/litre on long drives.
Ride Quality & Handling Once again a winner on road and off it. Drive it to experience the thrill. I have taken it upto 120 kmph and the engine keeps wanting more. It would have been great to have an electic PS to make the steering a little tight and steady on high speeds but hey, the jeep is not meant for that right?.....so thanks mahindra anyway for the hydraulic PS. ABS and electic PS should make you feel safe I think.
Final Words Mahindra has done a fantastic job with this Jeep. It has made both; the tarmac to the office and the mud and stones to the road less travelled a pleasure to drive on. Although some safety features could be added for the price you pay, I would not complaint and live and enjoy what I have in my hands. for 6.7 lakhs on road in Goa for a jeep enthusiast is a gift. It is a "GREAT" thing in a small package.
Areas of improvement Better insulation in the rear under the soft top, ABS, electric PS, Airbags if possible, centered steering, improved dash plastics, Noise reduction pads under the bonnet, cleaner fitted and finished carpets in the interior (edges unfinished and odd fitting), higher gear lever, AC in the cabin A MUST.
PS, 105 hp, diff lock, on the fly 4wd shift, Front Independent shocks, comfy bucket seats,No ABS, no Alloys on top model, tacky & flimsy plastic interiors, steering off center, No AC,

Exterior The car looks divine in black. so much so that on toll plazas many didnt bother asking for toll. some tght its a military jeep it seems! on highway , people sure turned to look and when on traffic signals the question we got was 'is it DI or new engine'.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Ambassador door pads are better quality than this car. dont think they r going to last . finish was pathetic to put it mildly. took it to mahindra qorkshop and got things fixed.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox This car flies. once the turbo kicks in, there is no stopping this beast. absolutely under control even upwards of 120km/hr. havent ever driven a jeep at that speed! the side view mirror lossened because of strong winds. had to tighten screws.
Ride Quality & Handling less bumpier than previous jeeps. tries to strike a balance between city and off roading. does it well.
Final Words was looking to get my hands on something like this for long. thanks to mahindra for finally having given somethin and at great prices. please work on interior plastic and finishing . that shouldnt cost much and will make sure this car doesn get any negative reviews on any aspect at all. there is simply nothing else that can be criticised.

Hats off to Mahindra to come out with Thar Crde. This will be an exceptional vehicle for both city drive and also offroading. Though one has to spend another 50K to bring the basic luxuries inside. It dosent have Ac but definitly blower and space to fix one. and the best part is Thar can be modified according to your taste. The crde engine roars to power and one small push on the accelerator pedal and you will have the thrill of your life. I have been driving cars for almost 10 yrs now and sincerely feel that almost any car for that matter will be boring within 2 months of its purchase. One will start fantazizing other models soon. I have booked a red Thar crde after waiting for almost 5 months without a car. Has to take this for offroading to be more specific abt its ability. Theres a long waiting period for the base DI model and CRDe will be available in a months time.

Exterior It catches the attention. Exterior is wonderful, especially the outer body is tough & it makes you feel safe on the road
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) This vehicle is mainly built for off roading, so you cannot expect too much comfort. It has to be rough. However, looking at the price & the usage of the vehicle, interior is ok. It can be improved, but not too much. If one is expecting comfort like other luxurious cars, then this is not the car for people expecting comfort. It is for the people, who love going out in the wild & roam freely.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is excellent. I have done 4000 kms recently on highways of Karnataka & also in the jungle trecks, without any toruble. My car gave me mileage of around 14.5 Kms on highways & 12.90 kms on inner jungle roads with lot of curves. People often complain about mileage of this car, but it all depends on the driving habits also. It has a excellent turbo charged engine.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality can be called a bit rough, but it is ok. This vehicle is not for high speeding & taking sharp turns. I was ok with its handling & it was comfortable with speeds from 80 to 100 kms. In sharp curves one has to reduced speed below 80, so it will give you good balancing.
Final Words Value for money. Go buy it, maintain it & it will serve you for years to come & you will not regeret it.
