Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
I bought this car in October 2010. The Hyundai i10 advertisements claimed fuel efficiency of above 18 Km/litre during that period in 2010. In last 3 years, the fuel consumption of this car increased considerably, inspite of scheduled Hyundai service and 2 major service. The car clocks an average of 9km/litre with AC and 11km/litre without AC. The Highway average clocks at 15 Km/litre. Even BMW 320D gives an average of 9 Km/litre in Sports mode and 14 km/litre in Eco mode.
Compare it to Honda City, Brio or any car in Maruti bandwagon, i10 is white elephant. My cousin bought i20 in 2012, and he is facing similar problem.
My second car is a Maruti 800 bought in December 2004. It still gives and average of 19km/litre without AC and 16 Km/litre with AC.
I would recommend readers to look for cars maufactured by Japanese manufacturers rather than going for Hyundai.
