I bought Grande Punto 1.4CC Emotion pack (Top End model) Petrol n Nov 2010. I was simply bowled by the looks and the fetures provided by this car, despite all saying never go for a Fiat I thought it is a risk worth taking.
Initially I was liking the car, as the drive is so smooth, great suspension and loved the Blue nd Me feature, but than one fine day when I was using my power window the mirroe suddenly fell down.. that was a shock for me as this happend whithin one month, I immediately drove to the dealer and found that their was no mechanic for Fiat cars in Tata that day. And than they gave me time 3 days after the incident and for 3 days I was halpless as I cant take my car which has one window glass down.
Finally t got repaired, than after 3 months the frone passenger door lock stopped working (without accident, without bad handling) again it took me a day to get it repaired. This when I felt that FIAT has really used bad quality products in car.
This is not all, One day while returning from office I started my AC, and found that AC has stopped working, and it is just the blower which is blowing me apart... I immediately went to the Service station and the Fiat mechanic told me that it is a Manufactuiring defect in the AC. They gave me appointment of a date after 10 days, and I drove my car without AC for 10 days (temp is too high in summers). Finally the AC got repaired.
The last nail in the coffin was when we went to a hill station(700Kms) from my place. The drive was smooth but while returning back again the AC stopped working, and that was the time when I thought that FIAT really has done injustice to us by adding defetive pieces and poor manufacturing.
I came back to Jaipur without AC and than my AC got repaired after 3 months. This is after I sent several emails ot FIAT customre care and senior executives. This is the reason I bought Jazz and now looking to sell my punto.
The avarage is 12 n city and 13 in Highway. Really I would never recommend a Fiat car for indians, FIAT even has no showrooms/sevice stations and TATA people treat FIAT cars as StepSons.
This is my feedback about PUNTO (Maybe only I got a defective car), now while selling I am beering a loss of more thn 3L as I bought the car in 6.7L.
And the Services are Really really pathetic.
