Not Good for Owners

 

Exterior Ok. Nice to look at.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Poor plastic quality of Dash board. like Indica. Features excellent, Space ok, Comfort OK.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine Performance SAD. Fuel Economy is 15 Kmpl or less. Not acceptable on Diesel.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride Quality is Average, nothing Great, suffers from Road Noise. Could not figure out ABS/EBD advantage.

Final Words Nothing in the Fiat Punto is as bad as the Service infrastructure. Unscrupulous dealers lie about basic features like road clearance, etc if you are not careful. The car hits almost everything on the undercarraige on Indian average roods with Speed breakers.

Service facilities are pathetic. Tata Motors, which with so much of History has never built a decent passenger car and has always dealt with Truck owners and Sumo Drivers of vehicles on Rent is FIATs Service partner. Amazing!!!

You arrive at the Service station and find hundreds of run down, rusted and oil leaking Indicas all around. You are hard pressed to find a place to park. If you do.. you are ushered in to a clumsy sitting area where you wait indefinitely for a Know-all service manager to marcy on you. Servicing is more or less an exercise to increase the bill. "We will do interiors and make it shine like new -- 1000 bucks" .. Wheel Alignment -- 700 bucks , Brake PAD's worn out within 15000 Kms, 3500 bucks .. they find endless ways to increaset the bill.

End Result -- 1) My Cabin interiors are still as bad as it was. The used detergent to wask my fabric seats .. the car stinks of soap now. They have asked me to take the car back again into the nightmare of the their service center .. i refuse. 2) Wheel Alignment/Balance -- Always a Sham. nothing has changed .. God knows why you need this when you have Alloy Wheels 3) Brakes. I did not get it done .. although i am really finicky about this thing. I wonder why an ABS/EBD enabled brake has to wear out in a new car within a year. I own a Toyota and have owned a Swift. This never happened. The brakes of those car were changed after 3 years if at all.

Pathetic state of affairs .. Servicing is the last straw for owners who anyways suffer undercarraige shocks, poor pickup and bad fuel economy of this car.

Areas of improvement The Fiats acclaimed Diesel Engine is used by all other manufacturers like Swift, Ritz, Indica Vista, Beat Diesel and every one makes it faster on pick-up, way better on Fuel economy. I wonder why the Manufacturer of this engine cannot make a car which has better mileage. With 15" alloy wheels, the Ground clearance is pathetic.

Finally, the Servicing has to part with Tata Motors which is a pathetic Motor manufacturer with a history of pathetic customer services. I am feeling helpless that I bought a Car Crafted for a True Fan -- which I am (I owned a FIAT UNO for 9 years). Only a True Fan will buy this car, no one in their right mind or senses will thus Poor resale value is a bane .. i gues this headache will continue till the car melts one day.
