      I have earlier (2002 to 2005) been using a Matiz and I was completely satisfied with its performance.Therefore I wanted to buy the Spark.I have seen the car in the showroom and am disappointed about two aspects.First one being that the instrument cluster has now been shifted to the centre of the dash board.I do not know what positive purpose it serves but it is a very unusual place to get used to, more so as the other car that I drive has its instrument cluster at the conventional place.Moreover ,the new position of the instrument cluster is such that it obstructs the view of left berm of the road ahead(I am reasonably tall).Unfortunateny,in India,left berm of the road ahead is the most important place to watch.GM, can easily do something to correct this .The second observation is that the dickey door of my prevous Matiz had beautiful opening and closing action dampened by the twin dampers,this remained so for all the three years that I used it.I tried this movement for the new SPARK. It had a thudding action while opening.Has GM done away with the dickey door dampners?I get worried as to where else has the cost or quality been cut by them .Or was it a defective piece?  I have now decided to wait for the time being.                          Good fuel economy,good utilisation of internal spacepoor ergonomics,poor perceived quality

      Well, Yesterday I went for 45000 kms service and my little sparky is still performing well. No problem at all. 3 yrs completed last month so warranty is over but car is still in great shape and performance is still great.

      As far as mainetenance is concern, still no high maintenance though I am paying on each service (Cashless ownership offer was not available when I bought). I paid exactly 1501/- yesterday for 45000 kms service.

      HOW I FEEL: Presently, The best car in the segment (better than Estilo, WagonR, Santro) in terms of looks(though personal) and comfort. Like other cars of its segment, it has comfortable space for 4, and can fit 5 people without being too uncomfortable. Feel of the car is very good, like big cars. Plastic quality is really very good and Its center mounted Speedometer looks great and usually found in high-end cars like Nissan, Audi etc… You can see the same in new Indica Vista.. why? Because its good!!! So, if anyone will say that its uncomfortable, I will say No, Its Not!! It took only one day to get use to the speedometer and with this position everyone in the car can see on which speed car is running.

       

      ENGINE: Spark has 1.0L engine which outputs 63bhp of power and 90 Nm of torque. Spark's engine is well tested & successfully running everywhere in the world. The engine is super silent & in idle position it produce Zero Vibration. The car felt quite stable on high speed of over 130 kmph as I drove at that speed for sometime on Lucknow-Bareilly Highway. I feel at that speed Spark is better than Wagon-R & Santro. Slow Speed... Well anyone can drive it on 3rd gear @20kmph only, No jerks, no noise... infact Even if you are driving it on 5th gear and reduce the speed to 20 kmph, car doesn't stop and u wont feel any kinda jerk. I tested it completely.

       

      SUSPENSION: It has gas filled suspension, first in its class and I feel the difference between Spark & Wagon-r/Santro (We've used both Santro & Wagon-r for quite a long time so I can compare them to Spark). In spark I feel that its suspension quality is much -much closer to big Cars, Sedans... Riding Quality???Riding quality surpasses Santro & Wagon-r.


      MILEAGE: Spark is the best fuel efficient car after Alto. I am getting around 14kmpl with 100% a.c. on now, (Before 1st service minimum mileage was 13.80kmpl) and Maximum I counted was 17.40 kmpl without a.c. I was not expecting such mileage from Spark. Even so many are getting over 19kmpl (Dont really know how?) Though Mileage Depends on driving conditions but I would like to say the Actual city mileage of Santro & Wagon-r with a.c. in city driving condition is around 12kmpl only (Tank full to tank full method) So, as far as mileage is concern there is no comparision, Spark is definitely better.


      SPACE INSIDE: As I mentioned earlier it has very good space for 4 like santro and wagon-r but 5 can sit without being too uncomfortable. They have used inner space very well, small places here n there, for glasses, cigarette case, for bottles. The feel is there while driving Spark. Boot Space is small but I dont think it really matters most with city cars, almost same you will get in every car. I have bought LT (Top Model) and with Folding Seats option I carried luggage on rear seat too while we were only 3 on highway journey.  

      NEGATIVES: As far as my opinion is concern, I would say I got everything which one can expect from a small city car. Tubeless tyres and all and mainly the price which I paid, I am more than Satisfied with Spark.

       
      Dealer Network is other issue with G.M. Since service network is limited it might be difficult for someone if he stuck in some village area. Though G.M is having service centre in every known and famous city, so no problem for those who belongs to city which is having G.M. Service centre because Quality of service they are providing is too good. G.M. is very aggressive these days and in next couple of years you will find so many service points of G.M. here n there.

      Spark is very good car to go for. Just take a test drive and then take your decision, am sure once you drive the car, you will feel the difference between Spark & other small cars. Now cashless service is available for 3yrs/45000 kms which is an added advantage as you need not to pay a single rupee in next 3 years on Regular Maintenance. 

      I have rated it 5 star means Excellent because after using Spark, I feel Spark is an Excellent car. If you like Spark than take a test Drive and check all the points.

      On Navarathri day i have booked the spark car.

      they are very good in terms of service offered by GM. I’m fed up seeing more old cars on road so I decided to go for newly faced car.. I know these are old wine in new bottle or new wine in an old bottle, I don't know which one is correct, but I love a change.

      Comparing this car to all small cars in India it is ever better car…and they giving us warranty upto 3yrs, that means how GM are confident about Quality..i think so...

      but GM should reduce the car price amount around Rs 75,000 to Rs 1,00,000. It will be good. Becoz of these cost factor we are getting confused which car model and respetive to the manufactures we have opt to.

      I PURCHASED SPARK LT ,with very high expectations and choose to take highend model  ..i was maruti user earlier ...

      I m little upset with performance ,1st)  Tailpipe of silencer mufler deposits heavy carbon which is not in suzuki cars.

      Fuel efficency is again poor ,expected is 17 km/ltre but it gives average of 12

      3) Problem of noice in wheels is also thr

      4)Seats are not that comfortable as expected

      NEEDS LOT OF IMPROVEMENT !!!

      I had made up my mind about buying a Spark during their centenial discount period, till I checked out the AC.  It just did not cool the insides and this was in October.  The salesmen there could not come up with a satisfactory explanation and that took away my confidence.  I am still without a car. In case Chevrolet people are reading this, they may want to know more.  call me at 0120 2776307

      To add to my comment after almost 2 years now, The mileage has been a disappointment.  I mean, on my 5 gear Maruti 800 I used to get 20 km/litre and now with only 996cc engine on Spark, I get only 15 km/litre. I was expecting better than Wagon R and Santro to say the least.  Atleast 17.

      Today a sales executive came at our town with chevy spark 1.0lt , i was very excited for it . everything was fine, car is very good overall . except the speedo meter console in centre.and the led panel in front of driver which gives a feeling like auto rikshaw. and another issue is with chevy service they had only 80 service stations througout india. which is not approchable from all towns.
      Good fuel Economy, Good at style.,every thing fine but problem of service.chevy has only service in 80 towns in india.

      The looks are good, colours are fantastic a complete small family car..But it is priced very high as compared to its competition..People will think twicw before buying the car or they may also go for Getz in the same money which has good looks than Spark better interiors or the people may go for Estillo or Alto...To attract the consumers Spark needs to be cheaper

      I wish they had given a CD player with it. Or else it means spending soem more money for it post purchase.

      13 kms/litre is good, but we need to see how it does in the mumbai uphill traffic conditions.Will it groan to climb up?It needs to stand the test of time with the Mumbai monsoons and its hazzardous driving conditions and the way the car reacts to it needs to be seen.

      I would also wait to see as to how often the car needs to be serviced by GM for running it in cities like Mumbai and Calcutta. The road conditions in these two cities bring about maximium wear and tear in any car.Will Spark be able to endure all of it as the Wagon R does?

      A good six months on the road ith the monsoons will talk about the efficiency of Spark

      When I was looking for a car initially spark was never on my mind. I was looking for Wagon R Duo. My wife suggested before booking wagon R why dont we simply go and just check cars from other companies. So we started trying. I went Chevrolet showroom to try AVEO-UVA. When I was checking UVA my wife glued to spark may be because of its looks. I called her to see UVA but she said first you come here and check spark. As I sat inside I got the inner feeling, this is what I wanted. I did not expected the car which looks so compact from outside will be spacious from inside. Cool beige interiors was giving a rich look. Sales executive then showed us all the features and I really liked it that too at the price which was lesser then other cars wagonr,santro, i10, Astar etc. On the day of delivery: One thing I made clear to the dealer that I will take car on the day of payment itself and will not wait for delivery. They agreed for 50% cash and 50% check. Just one day before delivery I booked it with marginal amount of Rs. 10000/-. They gave me following discount and accessories: Cash Discount: 40000/- Corp Discount: 5000/- 3 yrs free maintenance without any charges. Since PS model does not come with body colored bumpers I bargained for that and they agreed to give me body colored bumpers for free. On the day of delivery the sales executive and cashier had some discussion and they told me to pay whole amount in cash or by DD. I said that yesterday you agreed for 50% by check. After some arguments they agreed to give me some more accessories for free (foot mats, perfume etc.) And I agreed for making whole payment in cash. I checked accessories prices in the showroom but found them bit costly so decided to get it done from outside. Overall experience with dealer was pleasant. By 4 in the evening they handed over me the car. Performance and Fuel Economy: So far as performance is considered I found it good. At first gear its quick (and yes number of persons sitting inside does not makes a difference). It even picks up at second gear without much problem. Even at the speed of 30-40 you can shift to 4th gear and it will run smoothly without creating vibrations that generally comes when car is running at lower gears. One thing I notice at 2nd and 3rd gear even if we have not presses accelerator pedal, the car rolls on itself (of course it should not fall below minimum speed where we need to push the pedal). A little problem I face is when I have to shift it to back gear. Sometimes it stuck and I have to press clutch again. Also with AC I feel the engine power becomes bit low, means we have to shift a gear ahead compared to non AC. means the power you achieve in 3rd gear in non AC, you will get in 2nd gear with AC. Fuel economy: Nothing much to say. In city I get 15 kms without AC and on highways 18 kms without AC. With AC we can subtract 2 kms. Owners of wagon R and santro informed me that its better then there cars. Handeling and drive quality: Power steering is smooth. However sometimes feel less sensitive in case of sharp turns. Being compact from outside I feel driving and parking in city conditions is easy. Comfort: Space is enough for 5 people and they can sit comfortably. Leg space is good for both front and back seat. Owners of santro and zen estillo told me about this. Overall I am happy and satisfied with the spark. I have gone on 2 long journies and it was a nice experience. Its definitely a value for money for the price at which it comes.
