Exterior
If you like cute, sporty contraptions.. then this car is not for you. This is a strong, no-nonsense, hard working car. The front visage is probably the best int he business. The front grille and the chrome lick exudes masculinity. But the rear is a bit of a let down. The sloping roof makes the rear quite low as well.... which may hamper rear window visibility at times. I've installed roof rails from the Beat... which gives it a sportier, SUV-like look. Probably GM should look at offering it as standard fitment. Would had loved to have electrically foldable ORVMs and rear sensors though.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
When it comes to space.. the Sail gives even some of the bigger players a serious run for their money. There is oodles of it everywhere... even with the front seats pushed far back. The dash is conventional and may seem a tad dated to some. But thats the way I like it. Window controls may take a bit getting used to... but once you do it feels a lot better than the conventional window mounted ones. The Audio is pretty basic.. bu the Bluetooth is a bonus. Would had loved to have steering mounted audio controls. AC is decent.....but no climate control.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Have not had the chance to really test the engine out. I have a 1.2 lt petrol, which seems a tad underpowered in the lower gears.... but it really evens out after 40 km/hr. Gear shift is smooth. But u need to keep this baby rev happy most of the time. Haven't had the chance to calculate the milege.. but I hve been promosed 14-15 in city conditions.
Ride Quality & Handling
Suspension is a dream.... as I read somewhere "it gobbles potholes for breakfast". Ride quality is more sedan class than hatch-back. So may not feel as nifty and zippy to some. But again this works for me.
Final Words
This is defintely not a fun car.. with lots of gizmos all around. Go for it if you prefer masculine looks and want a sturdy car with oodles of space. More for people who think with their "head" rather than their heart.
Areas of improvement
Rear design, sluggish in low gears (esp. with AC), weak headlight, rear sensors. Adding a pair of roof rails, boosts the flair quotient instantly.
