Exterior Nice innovative styling now comes with a diesel heart. Its a best looking car in this segment. I tried no of cars before buying this like ritz, i10, swift, liva and eon.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are not too interesting as its exteriors. Its a dark grey cabin all over due to which there is feel of lack of space. I think they should have gone for light brown or beige interiors to give a cabin more airy feel. Rear is also a bit cramped and is not suited for highway drives. Boot space is less even for a small faimly. Its only 170 liters which is the lowest in its class.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine is a gem. Its not a great performer as the car takes 18 seconds to reach 100km/h. But its good to putter around in the city. Its a best sustitute for a 2-wheeler as being a diesel and with this kind for milage the running cost is almost equal to a petrol 2-wheeler. Its a same fiat engine being used in no of hatchback cars in India with one cylinder knocked down.
Gearshifts are smooth and gearbox is mated well with the 3 cylinder unit.
Ride Quality & Handling The car rides well over pot holes and bad roads. Its ride quality is good but one needs to be careful when driving with 4-5 people in the car as it can get hit from below when driving over bad roads. I have experienced this in the past. Handling is good till 110km/hr but it feels nervous beyond that. So its adviseable to run this machine around this range because being a small car with even smaller engine it has some limitations.
Final Words Its adviseable to go for other cars like swift, ritz, liva or even eon which I tried earlier. But one can only come to know about after sales service and cost of spares after ownership experience which was terrible. I opted for an extended warrenty which includes extra free service coupans. There is a extra free service booklet or so called CPCU booklet (includes 9 free service coupans) which is provided by the company when a customer opts for this service. The company charges Rs 17000 for this service. I paid this amount at the time of purchase on 1/02/2012. The dealer promised me that my free service booklet will be delivered at my address within a month. I got this booklet almost 6 months after purchasing the car after filing a complaint in Chevorlet head office in Gurgaon,Haryana. The car has already done 15400 kms. The customer is made to pay for labour costs for replacment of parts during 3rd service which is around Rs1500. The rear bumper of the car was damaged due to a minor collision about a month ago. I took the car to Chevorlet workshop and its repair was costing me Rs 3000 even after insurance claim which was not worth at all. I got it repaired from outside in Rs 1200 which is not noticeable now. I would'nt had to pay all this money if I would have got my CPCU booket on time.
Service network is also poor as its difficult to find any company workshop when you are travelling in interior parts of the country. I had one such experience when the car brock down on a bad stretch of road in Palghar (a small town in Maharashtra). The car was hit from below due to which the engine oil started leaking and was drained out soon. I called Chevorlet helpline, the agent told me that the nearest Chevorlet workshop is in Navi Mumbai which was 120 kms from Palghar. So it was of no use. I got the car repaired from a local mechanic for which i had to shell out Rs 2500 out of which Rs 1800 was the cost of engine oil.
Areas of improvement ALREADY MENTIONED ( I DONT THINK THERE IS ANY CHANCE OF IT).
Excellent fuel economy is a boon in this time of rising fuel pricesExpensive spare parts when compared to its competitors like Maruti and Hyundai
