Exterior Tata Safari Storme - Giagantic look, tallest among remaining SUV's, Range rover styling makes Storme the best looking SUV in India.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Best Seating in front and back (5 seats), Most spacious in seating then compared to Fortuner. High standard plastics and fittings compared to any of the other SUV's which includes XUV and Duster.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Have filled the tank and till now have roamed 500 km still i have not refueled, Fuel economy is also very good looking at the weight and size mileage is really good compared to Dicor. Engine is good, Gear box is bit hard.

Ride Quality & Handling Best in the class and there is no doubt about it. You can not compare Storme comfort with any of other SUV's till (30 lakhs). Best in ride quality especially off roads. Handling is really good compared to predecessor.

Final Words Firstly, Storme is not falling under Tata Safari category. We should remove Safari and name it as Tata Storme. Reason is because Storme has got new Chasis which is 78 kgs lighter weight and 50 times stronger than Safari Dicor. Suspension is totally changed. Front and rear disk breaks with ABS and EBD. Spare wheel has been removed and two silencors. Front look and lightings are replica of Range rover. Rear as well range rover look.

Areas of improvement Tata team are very very poor in marketing such a best product in 10 - 15 lakhs slot on road price.

Tata Storme is one of the best quality product of Tata's ever and just take the example of Royal enfeild marketing atleast and try to create more awareness to the mid age segment (20 - 35).

Storme - Last row has to be changed, thats very very vital while people are selecting SUV's. Try to do a survey, atleast. I believe there is no complaint in the vehicle but if you change the seating then it will definately be no problem Storme for sure.

      Murali. B

Height, Comfort, Seating, Road View, Suspension, Braking (ABS and EBD for front and back)Speakers of the audio are not upto the standards and last row needs to be improved a lot.

Exterior Is just perfect, it looks like beast. The changes done to the exterior of old sagreat gives it a look of land rover the rear look too make it looks like a beast.

Interior (Features, Space & comfortable It's very comfortable, lots so space is available, features are good except the poor quality music system n lack of air bags.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is good, excellent fuel economy, and gearbox is much easier then previous safari, the turning radius too is less then previous one. Steering is soft n easy to handle.

Ride Quality & Handling You ll feel like road queen after entering into the beast, easy to handle and perfect for any type of roads. I tested it in salty sand dunes, and every special indian road it goes awesome and u'll definely enjoy the ride in it.

Final Words Amazing car totally worth for money. I'm using it from past 3 months it's just perfect. It'll give you a no complain thing. And the best thing is tata customer support is too goo u'll never face a problem with them.

Areas of improvement Music system should be improved. It should contain airbags coz every car is unsafe without airbags.

It's look is awesome, good fuel economy, good style, spaciousSound quality as well as the music system both are dull

Exterior :  Exterior paint quality is excellent and the vehicle is quite a head turner where ever one goes. High stance is intimadating to others in traffic. Many reviews complain about some of the panel gaps but in my experience hardly any one ever notices them.

Interior :  Interior space is great and with high seating position + large winndows, the outside visibility is great and the cabin feels airy. There are plenty of useful pockets in the cabin but we would have prefered to have place for one litre water bottles even in the second row dooors. Cup holders under the A/C n music system panels are very small and mostly useless. We wish this space could be better utilised. Quality of plasics is good and Seats are very spacious and five adults can be very comfortable for extended periods. One is not at all tired after a 9+ hour journney. We would have prefered to have a in dash dedicaated GPS system in the vehicle.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox : My VX 4x 4 is almost daily worked on very rough roads or no roads at all. Even on a very steep incline, in a 4 x 4H mode the vehicle has enough power to haul a fully loaded vehicle with gusto. As long as one keeps the rpm in 1500-2000 range or above one faces no problems. We have so far driven 27,000 kms in one year. We got 13 kms/ltr on highways with ac on and speeds in the range of 120 kms/hour. In city we manage 12 kms/ltr. On better highways with less traffic we routinely cruise at 140 kms. The vehiclestays planted on the road at 140kms/hr speed and one hardly notices the effort. We are quite happy with hte gear box too.

Ride Quality & Handling : Ride quality is excellent. It is on par with cars which are in 30L+ segment. On winding roads however, with high centre of gravity (and high ground clearance) there is rolling which is mainly felt by 2nd and 3rd row passengers. We have done 14+ hour rides in a day many a times and the driver feels fresh after such efforts. This was not the case in many much more expensive cars. What we are most pleased about are the brakes. This vehicle sports disc brakes on all 4 wheels. The vehicle therefore is quite forgiving and always behaves well even in emergency stopping.

Final Words : On very roads - with deep craters - we have tried out the STORME against Audi Q7 and Mahindra XUV500. We think STORME has a definite advantage in that environment. We think that for the price that we pay, we cannot get a better package.  If Storme is offered with a 160+ bhp engine, we will upgrade immediately. Tata has made us proud.

Areas of improvement  : Wish list

      01. In dash dedicated GPS and reverse camera display;  02. 6 airbags;  03. Traction control;  04. A bit more stiffer suspension for off roading;  05. Cooler glove box;  06.  Tata should consider offering a 160 bhp diesel engine for Storme as an option.

Space, off road performance, highway performance, fuel efficiency, comfort, brakes and toughnessTimely availability of spare parts and suspension too soft while serious off roading.

Exterior Safari Storme has quite a presence on road and in parking lots - even in the company of cars which cost twice the amount. The front design is impressive and always draws favarable comments. Placing the spare wheel below was indeed a good idea.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very spacious cabin and excellent comfortable ride. We have covered more than 700kms in one day (for several days) in roads that were not all that good - and still did not feel fatigued. Driving position is very good and low window line gives excellent views of scenary outside. We kept the original music system but upgraded the speakers(10 Hellix speakers/tweeters). So, now the music quality is fabulous. Aircon is really very good and takes care of such a large volume admirably.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is responsive and while cruising at 120kms/hr, we could easily reach 140kms+ to overtake other cars. What is impressive is that while making 145kms/hr we felt as if we were cruising at 100kms/hr. The Storme does not lose it's composure and feels 'planted' at all times. We achieved 13kms/ltr on highway. Long gears allow easy driving and one does not get tired at all. Internal lighting and electrical charging points for each row is very thoughtfull and efficient.

Ride Quality & Handling Storme rides over all surfaces with confidence protecting the passengers. I have had long trips in Fortuner, Endeavor, Innova, Captiva and Scorpio. Storme's ride is definitely more comfortable than any one of these. Handling is very nimble.

Headlights illuminate the roads very well. There is one aspect of Storme that most reviews have missed out. Storme has very reassuring brakes. Fitting discs brakes for all four wheels was an excellent idea. Which other SUV/car is fitted similarly I do not know. With these and ABS+EBD Storme feels safe and 'under control' at any speed. We had to brake urgently at 130Kms and we did not experience any drama. I have tried this tough SUV on very rough roads and even where there are no roads repeatedly. The vehical has not failed me.

Final Words I definitely think Tata has created a winner and priced the Storme very well. The cabin is well insulated from outside noise or engine noise. Tata's own agency Concorde Motors in Pune offered excellent service back up.  I pray that Indians start respecting our own products - if they do, they will be amply rewarded like me.

Areas of improvement Plastic quality is much improved but I think that the fitting of plastic panels can be improved upon. Engine/turbo charger vine within the cabin could be reduced.

Second row doors could have larger space for keeping water bottles. Tata should offer wide range of usefull 'Optional extras' like bull bars, overhead luggage carriers, winches, etc.

Styling, very nimble handling, excellent brakes, good long gears, excellent airconFittings of plastic panels in interior should be improved.

While everything else about the car is good/ great, I must express my extreme disappointment with my new Safari Storme which takes pride in being a tough SUV. However, far from being tough, I have had to deal with several quality issues within just the first two weeks of ownership (1,500 kms). Just to name a few, each day I have had to face some issue or the other:

Cigarette lighter comes off from its socket/ Front driver side door window comes off and wouldn’t close/ Left door search light has fallen off/ Second row seats won’t lock and makes rattling noise. The seats would not align in line as well./ Rear view mirror has a distorted view in night view mode./ The front left door loses alignment and creates a popping sound when closing the door. It has resulted in damaging the door edge./ Front left fender not clip broken./ Front and rear wiper motors makes sound./ Rear wiper squeaks./ Rear fuel lid inside panel clips broken on both sides.

With just 1500 kms, this tough SUV rattles/ clatters in several places already (Dashboard, doors, seats, seat belt pulley, indicator switch etc.)

I have bought an extended warranty for the fourth year. However, I am wondering with the way things are falling apart, will the tough car last that long?

Space, comport, mileage, commanding view, great high speed stabilityVery poor build quality/ Poor fittings. Even cheap Chinese plastic toys are built to last longer

Exterior I owned a Safari Dicor EX before & i am comparing Safari Storme with it's previous version Safari Dicor.. My Storme is of Astern Black colour & my previous Dicor was of Pearl White colour.. Very attractive & better than before with good quality fittings.. Chrome has been used extensively.. Now the SUV resembles like a foreign SUV.. The side step is attractive now with good quality fibre fittings & not rubber pastings like before in Dicor.. The spare wheel is placed under the body so that the body sound is compromised.. Also the 4 door & bunker door weight has been reduced drastically.. The door closing sound is much more softer & pleasant now than before.. Good thought by the Tata Engineers.. The engine compartment is also compact than before.. Good quality wiper has been used in Storme..

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Less features & simple.. Tata has kept things simple so that problems don't arise with electronics aftermath.. Interiors are better finished with good quality fittings.. Now one doesn't feel that he is boarded inside a Tata made SUV.. Best in class space & comfort like before but now there is no sideways movement of the passenger in running or broken road condition which was there before in Safari Dicor...

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox  Silent engine than Safari Dicor... 138 bhp now which was 142bhp before in Dicor but the power has not decreased in terms of the body weight of Storme which is lighter than Dicor.. Fuel economy has increased a bit as Storme weighs amost 75 Kgs less than Dicor.. Gear is easy to reach, short & softer than before but now vibration can be felt in the gear which was not there in Dicor..

Ride Quality & Handling    Smoother than Dicor.. Turning radius is better with 5.4m which was 6m before in Dicor.. Now driving in city traffic is much more easier.. Steering wheel is softer than before with rack & pinion steering.. So be careful while taking a turn in corners & reduce speed as the speed too has increased in Storme.. Care should be taken to match the speed as per the turn or otherwise possibility of the car being cap-sized cannot be ruled out.. As now Storme comes with Xenon projector lights, night visibility & during rain, visibility has improved than before.. No need of extra lights as was required in Dicor.. When the full beam is put on, both the full beam bulb & the dipper projector light is put on simultaneously which immensely increases the visibility whereas in Dicor only the full beam bulb is put on & the dipper bulb goes off which makes night visibility as well as visibility during heavy traffic & rainy conditions very very poor..

Final Words   Overall better than Dicor & Safari is Safari after all.. No SUV can take it's place(Fortuner, Endeavour, Captiva, Rexton, Prado & Pajero don't come in comparision)..

Areas of improvement  Still to find out as i have purchased the car recently & have driven only 700 Kms so far.. But will surely put up a fresh review when i drive some more of this amazing Tata made SUV.. Really i am a proud owner of Tata Safari Storme..!!!

Ground clearance, style, simplicity & huge road presence..!!!Price

      Exterior

I bought STORME EX WID EXPLORER EDITION.

New safari storme is much better then old safari dicore from all parts.

exterior is much improved, you have to just climb up to sit ,which make you feel like a BOSS.

      Crome finishing is very good.

Decors are looks fantastic on my pearl white storme.

Crome finishing on lights are not very good.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

interiors are much better than dicore.but more improvement can be done.

      dash board are soft.

new 2 din music system is nice and give some extra luxury feeling to storme.after installing 2 din music system the cup holders are now useless.

      leather seats are good.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

engine is same but improved a bit.the sound become less and engine is more effective.

      the acceleration is improved.

gear box is also improved but may feel little hard while shifting gears.the old dicores problrm of shifting gears evry time u slow down is improved a lot.

iam getting about 11-14 kmpl .

      Ride Quality & Handling

ride quality is great.you will feel that you are sitting on a truck(becoz of height).

jerks/damage roads/no roads are not a problem for safari passangers.

handling is improved a lot.STORME has 5.4 m turning radius which is best in class.stering wheel is now shorten which give good controlling.

      Final Words

Great and real SUV in india.Best for indian roads.

(Detailed review with pictures is available at: http://rupstalks.blogspot.in/2014/02/tata-safari-storme10-reasons-to-buy-it.html)

Vehicle for die-hard fans: It’s an iconic vehicle. One should go for this vehicle in case you are an ardent fan of Safari. Such people will buy this vehicle, irrespective of any setbacks, and why not?..,just go for it. It would not disappoint you majorly.

Improved interiors: The interiors are much better than the older Safari. The beige finish is plush! *There is faux wood on the top model.

Engine and performance: The Storme boasts of 2179cc, 2.2L 16 valve Varicor diesel engine with Power/Torque of 138 BHP/320Nm.

Ride quality: Excellent! Outstanding road presence. The best driver seat view.

Cabin Comfort: The cabin comfort remains the same as that of the old Safari. The pilot seats for the driver and the co-passenger with arm-rest.  The rear seat comfort and the leg space, the boot area...no questions asked. AC is powerful, with roof mounted rear AC [with independent controls]. Split and fold rear seats.

Build & Body: Storme gets a Solid Body-on-frame construction using X2 platform (first used in Aria) with crumple zones, side impact bars. Most niggles which earlier safari owners faced are gone. Rattling of the rear door is gone.

Shift-on-fly 4WD: its electronic "shift-on-fly" feature engages 4WD on the move [only in VX 4x4]

Ruggedness & Improved Exteriors: The Storme has a rugged performance on any stretch of road and is equipped with ABS, EBD & disc brakes on all 4 wheels. Gets some chrome on the exterior. Roof mounted antenna. Body colored side footstep.

Exterior White collarlook, bit of a discovery style grill but never mind as its their own subsidiary.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The moment you get in, you’ll see analog clock on dashboard which would indirectly tell you not to expect the new style of interior. Plastic quality is improved compare to previous version. Overall very specious except the last cabin which is actually only for kids.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is very responsive and smooth, light gear box probably taken from aria platform. You can manipulate this beast like a toy on any terrain. I could easily excel to 160 km/h without any hassle and also was able cut it down to 10 km/h in no time. So far customer review quoting 13.5km/l in city w/ AC.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality was always good and this time it is even better, I must says XUV 500 is nowhere near to it for that matter.

Final Words Fantastic off-roader and finely tuned for city driving.

Areas of improvement They could have added stylish interior like Aria/Manza club class since they already have supplier for that, Climate Control.

Ride quality, gear box, engine finely tuned compare to previous model.Could have used new style interior, probably from Aria

Exterior Powerful road presence, its looks so intimadating from front...best in class and may be two above.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The interiors looks class apart for a 10 lac, Tata car. Upmarket and in time, nice work, nicely fitted, no rattle, few gaps, smooth.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Powerful engine with good fuel economy, smooth and strong pick up. Should fine tune a litttle bit to increase the output from the same engine.

Ride Quality & Handling It behaves much superior to the present safari, hadles with minimum body rools, excellent pick inspite of being so heavy, taking turns even at high speeds looks in control now, excellent ride quality, TD to feel it, best in class.

Final Words It feels very solid and safe from inside and even though tatas have taken their own sweet time launching this product, they have succeeded in eradicating most of the shortcoming of the previous version. now they should focus on finetuning it further and adding latest feature like GPS, 2DIN with touchscreen and bigger wheels. this product will sell like hot cakes if they can keep the prices little low after all improvements.

Areas of improvement Tata should think of launching the upgraded version shortly with touchscreen wid 2DIN, making this monster lighter to enhance performance by loosing atleast 200 kgs on weight and get in on road with a 17" Alloys which will make it better than fortunner even in looks, in performance it is already.

Interiors, comfort , pick up, stability, style....2 DIN system not available...
