Exterior Best looking SUV, great road presence.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Most comfortable car to travel in. Acers of space, love it. very simple & pratical interiors.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox What an engine it flies a rocket I have driven it at 170 kmph. Gives 11 in city & 13 on highway. smooth gear box.

Ride Quality & Handling Best ride quality glides over speed brakers, rumbel strips, you dont feel anything inside. It just glides. It is an SUV with the highest ground clearence of 210mm so  you can't turn it like a sedan but you can't take a sedan where you can take a safari.

Final Words-Awsome vehicle have had it for the last 2 and half years love the performance, comfort & style. If you really like a macho, suv, with performance, looks, driving & riding comfort, close your eyes and by it.

Areas of improvement Interior plastic quallity could be better.

Space comfort, Pick up, Looks, brilliant suspensionplastic quality could be better.

Fantastic vehicle. We've owned the Dicor since april 2007, and have made many a highway and city trips together. Somehow, the car is always part of the family's travelogue. On our last round trip to New Delhi from Mumbai, the car returned a great mileage of 14.3 kmpl, that too with us cruising at around 100 - 120 kmph, with a full compliment of 5 family members, and a larger-than-full load of luggage that did not allow us to use the internal rear view mirror at all!

Of course, the suspension is fantastic, and has earned our family Safari the nickname "the mile-swallower"... irrespective of the road conditions, or the lack of them, we just need to mention the words "road trip" and everyone is out packing their bags, food, water, and looking forward to another great trip.

Maintenance wise, it's lighter on the pocket than we expected. We carry out preventive maintenance every 5,000 kms on the car, and so far, have not had to undertake any major repairs. We had some minor issues with the power windows, which were taken care of during the warranty, but apart from that, not a creak in the car till now, despite running around the country twice!

I'd recommend this car to anyone looking for a dependable, tough, comfortable, and completely reliable partner for the long roads through life. This one is definitely a keeper, something to be handed down from generation to generation as a family heirloom of memories and journeys.

The buying experience was just awesome. It is the best sUv in its segment in terms of comfort.Driving is just superb The pros is this SUV is the best for on roads but off roads it sucks. The service coasts and spare parts are little bit costlier.

I own 2.2VTT EX model of this car in april-08,done 42000 km,road holding & contol is good on rough surface, but the paint job is not upto the mark specially on plastic parts. The interior plastic accesaries are of very bad quality like lighter cover and other gate opening nobs.Fuel economy is good in comparision to other SUV's appx 12-13KMPL with a/c.Suspension Bushing is Must after 35000km & it is a costly affair cost appx 15000/-. over all a high maintance cost vehicle but if you want to travel on long drive you forget the cost of maintance.pickup is very good campare to 2.2VTT's heavy body weight.Engine Vibration is not found like other SUV'S.TATa should improve the interiors quality/Fitting perfection so that to compete with other companies.Good fuel economy,Good StyleBad interiors quality.High mentanance cost

      Exterior

       Wonderfully finished

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Lavish but poor plastic quality, Very comfortable, soothing A.C.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Very responsive but really kicks in above 2000 rpm. 140 BHP is not enough to rampage the road with a 2+ tons of mass.

      Ride Quality & Handling

wonderfuuly balanced, Can travel smoothly for long hours. Extremely comfortable in long journey

      Final Words

Highly recommended. Far better than any other option available at this price tag. Proud to posess one. Will be with me for ever. I do have a scorpio too but my vote will always go for this machine.

      Areas of improvement

More on BHP & dodgy interiors. Tata needs to work on the Tacho s as well. I used to drive a TCIC too but 2.2 Dicor VTT is a much better option. But TCIC with a dual head lamp looked more stylish, but this machine means business.

Huge Space, Comfort, Luxary, Good aggressive stylingPoor plastic, Tacho

      i own a scorpio 2.6 turbo dx.

my experience with scorpio is as follows....

very good engine, raw power, good control at high speeds....

but steering wheel has already come out in my hands twice during driving......thank god i was at low speed and could apply breaks to control the car....people went mad as a huge car was stranded in the busy airport road of bangalore, i called up scorpio care for help and i was told 4000 rupees just for towing the vehicle inside the city limits!

middle seats comfort is poor, suspension does not help on potholes and shock is absorbed by the passengers' body

then i test drove a safari and thank god for sending tatas to india....

i can realise my dream of owning a suv at 7 to 8 lacs

style, comfort, space, looks, powerbase model does not have much of features, top model is too costly

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine performance is pathetic. There were engine troubles where the engine stalled with my vehicle just 47000 kms on road and that too being completely dealer maintained. I had to spend a lot of money to get in back.

Ride Quality & Handling Bulky ride / Feels very Trucky. Being a tall car taking sharp curves at a speed of over 60 is not recommended.

Final Words Wouldnt recommend a buy. There are much better cars in the category which are better runners. They have stinged on the smallest of things with quality that it has left a lot wanting.

Improvements Needed The AC vents are of poor quality need to be changed often. Wires showing in the cabin which is pretty sad for the price charged. The quality of the power window units is poor and you need to keep changing them too. The standard Headlight power is bad and you will have to look at upgrading the same. Engine? After my mishap the less said the better.

I bought it in 2014 as a used car in only 300000 from a doctor which was ran only 58000 km, but lot of problems such as AC non-functional, the Stereo system non-functional, the power windows non-functional, Battery damaged etc. After repairing all the system I drive it all over India. The driving experience is extremely excellent.I got average millege of 13.4 K/mpl on highways. Maximum speed I achieved 180 km/ hour. It's look is is very nice and muscular. Performance is excellent even hills like Kullu Manali. Darjiling and Gangtok. Servicing of the vehicle is slightly high but tolerable. Maintenance is low but parts are expensive. Overall I like it very much.Even new safari is not smart like dicor 2.2 L. Even Storm isn't smart like Dicor. It will be much better if the company continue it with modern facilities and well equipped with the old shapes.
