After a wait of 5 long weeks, we got it day before!

Fantatic, so may features for less price, particularly, Height adjustable drivers seat, rake adjustable steering, huge space at front and rear, Central Console with many a warning signs, Very good CD+USB MP3 player, Central lock and power windows, Foldable rear seats, Good A/C. Auto locking of doors as you start moving, comfortable seats with lumbar support ... long list!

Smooth and precise gears. The range of the third gear is brilliant - now needs fewer gear shifts! Despite my short experience with manual transmission, it is still very easy with the controls, I feel mastered the gears in a few hours of ride!

Drove around with two peoples besides me on somewhat hilly and winding roads, never felt it under powered - definitely not so compared to previous car (5yr. old corolla) while in US.

Fantastic shock absorbers providing superior ride quality, again better than my previous corolla.

No engine noise inside with windows up! In fact when i horn I hear only a feeble sound of it inside!

Looks great: best is its unique-looks from the side, then the "complacent-looks" from the front, the rear is nearly the same old indica-looks.

What I miss: plastic quality, particularly on the doors. There should have been bit more room near the clutch pedal. Electronically adjustable rear view mirrors. larger wheels.

      I just love this monster-among-small-cars.

Excellent features, Fantastic looks, Roomy interior, Ride Qualitytata Dealers

I HAVE JUST COMPLETED 1310 KM ON VISTA 1.3 AURA AND SATISFIED WITH MY DECISION ON GOING FOR THIS CAR ,MY PREVIOUS CAR WAS ALSO INDICA DLS BUT THERE IS GREAT DIFFERENCE OF COMFORT ,STYLE AND MILEAGE IS CONCERNED .

FIAT QUADRAJET ENGINE MAKES IT PRESENCE FEEL WITH LITTLE PUSH TO ACCELERATOR .IT IS JUST LIKE PETROL ENGINE .

MUSIC SYSTEM IS FROM CLARION (MALASIYA ) WITH SIX SPEAKERS AND QUIET GOOD AND NO NEED TO HAVE EXTRA ACCERSORIES.

AC IS ALSO CHILLING AND COOLS CABIN WITHIN 5~8 MIN WHEN PARKED IN  SUNLIGHT.

OVERALL IT IS GOOD CHOICE WITHIN THIS BUDGET.

good fuel economy 20 KMPL, comfortable for 5 persons ,good interior, ample leg space for rearimprovement needed in rubber and plastic part .

      Hi friends,

This is my first review being posted at Carwale.com. To begin with, let me apprise that this is the first car I have owned and been driving, except for the santro (2000) model which I drove for about 21 days at driving school. As such, the points or views stated herein may not match with those of other Carwale members.

I had been to the TATA motors showroom at Chembur, looking out for a Nano, but then a smart looking young lady dressed in Gala Red standing beside the Nano caught my attention. I moved slowly towards her and noticed a very young bride in her Red joda, shimmering beauty and full of life. Just then a man approached me and said, "yes, she is Indica Vista".

I then took a close look of the Vista and was very impressed with the looks, fit and finish and of course the interior layout and space. The centre mounted console, the tiltable steering wheel and height adjustable seat were just more than sufficient to lure me for changing my decision. I booked the Vista immediately.

The post booking and ownership experiences of Vista were rather different.

      1. Interiors: This is one of the major strengths of Vista over the competition. Stepping inside the  cabin will make anyone forget that they are inside a "small car". It has a premium sedan feel to it with dual tone beige theme. The plastics used viz, inside door opening lever, central locking lever and the grab handles on top of doors, and especially the console housing teh power window switches, and the rotory knob of the music system, however impart a very cheap feel. The stalks have adequate feel and have no reasons to complain. The storage spaces (except for map pockets on doors) feel quite adequate. Special mention has to be made of the glove compartment which is also quite huge. There is a knob on one side of front seats for lumbar support (only Vista among the B+ segment cars, provides lumbar support). Despite many attempts, I was unable to figure out, how it helps (i.e., whether it really helps or not). With just 232 litres capacity the boot seems just adequate for daily commuting and weekend outings.

      2. Exteriors. If you are bored seeing the old indicas, I10s, Santros, Wagon-Rs and Swifts everywhere, the Vista offers a very different and refreshing look. Albeit, as a latest trend, almost every new car being launched comes with swap around type head lamps, no other model (except for the SX4) manages to integrate the swap around concept precisely to match  with the body contours, as has been done in the Vista (as per my personal liking). The petal shaped head lamps (dual barrel) with the TATA trademark smiling grill is simply impeccable and spot on. It surely turns heads of ongoers on the road. A simple proof to it is, it has been hardly 25 days since delivery and more than 50 people (neighbours and mostly other car owners at traffic signals) have enquired me about the car. Surprisingly women are more attracted towards the Vista. The quality of external door handles however leaves room for speculations. They are not as firm as they should be.

      3. Driving experience: Stepping into the drivers seat is a whole new experience by itself. The tilt adjustable steering and height adjustable seat combo will assure that you are in the most comfortable driving position. The windscreen is huge and gives a commanding view of the road ahead (there is a serious blind spot at 45 degrees though). The pedals are light and responsive. Turn on the ingintion  and one can hardly notice that the engine has truned on and is doing around 1500 rpm. no vibrations at all. I have to floor the pedal further to reaffirm whether the engine is started or not. the ride is simply smooth and no jerks are tranferred to the occupants. The quality of gear shift however is not inspiring and very rubbery, especially at 1 and 2 positions. The 3, 4 and 5 positions are effortless and spot on.  No problems with reverse position as well.

      4. Servicing: I have read people saying that after sales services of TML is not at par with  Hyundai and Maruti.  But in my view it is not true. The service centre of TATA was very responsive, cooperative and competent. They heard my issues patiently and resolved each one of them very carefully. The cost was also very very nominal. The car was delivered  on the exact time they promised.

      Just An Update:(as of 15.12.2009)

      5. Performance. The Car has been sucessful to impress me in terms of performance also. Just completed the second scheduled service. The Engine starts up in no time and picks up briskly.  The intial pick up though is rather slow and sluggish. One could easily feel this aspect at traffic signals  where the light turns from Red to Green, and by the time you gain sufficient momentum, the traffic behind you starts honking like hell whereby others can manage to just zip off like a breeze. However, within seconds once you click the gear shift in 3rd slot you are once again in lead and well ahead of the others.

Recently completed my first highway trip from Mumbai to Pune and back on M-P expressway. The performance on highway was a mixed bag.  On the positive side the vehicle remained stable at high speeds giving a feel of confidence. Could reach up to 125 Kmph (On Speedo with all windowns open) easily without any hassles. One the downside the vehicle seriously struggled to climb the ghats on 3rd and 4th gears

Over all a very good and competent car. Good Job TATA.

Looks, tons of features, comfort, interiors, space, fuel economy, ease of driving.Quality of plastics, rubbery gear shift, door handles, blind spot.

Hi, I am Praveen, recently bought Safire Aura.  Though, I have driven only 800 Kms. so far but the experience is very very good about the vehicle.  Vichel is capable enought to attract at the first sight itself.  Safire Auara carries a smooth and noiseless engine.  price tag and comfort+space+interior+features relationship is excellent.  fuel efficiency at initial stages is 13 Kmpl sharp before even first service.I can hardly think to disrespect the vehicle on any account except fuel efficiency but can be comprmised keping in view the strength of the engine which can well be experienced while on the steering.  It appears, if the vehicle is driven with a little bit of patience, it can give unexpected positive results.  average per litre may increase by 1 or kms. after 2nd or 3rd service.  It is a proud decision to own a Vista Safire.

Staff of Auto Link, Meera Bagh gave an unforgetable personal touch which was far from marketing tactics.

      Exterior

the exterior s pleasing and the car looks very european.the petal headlamps look good when lit up and the vista distincty resembles an innova when viewed head-on...the undertyred look stays and the petrol gets only 13" wheels....

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

the interior is in one word -  cavernous.quality of materials has improved, though there re still some bits that need attention.....the dashboard s almost a replica of the innova - except for the centre mounted console.the feature list is exhaustive - ac,ps, pwr windows, fog lamps, height adjustable steering and driver`s seat....lumbar adjustment on driver`s seat, defogger,"laptop" glovebox, underseat drawer, dual chargers-mobile and laptop,60:40 split and fold rear seat, engine immobiliser......it just goes on and on....got alloys seat covers and parking sensors fixed extra.....5 people sit comfortably....at 1 point we even crammed 7.the ac s about average considering the volume of air its gotta cool.....the stereo sounds ok and gets better at higher volumes.it also supports usb :)

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

with only 65 bhp the engine s no racer....but torque delivery s surprisingly good.its quite easy to trundle around the city in 3rd gear at <30kph with ac on.the vastly improved gearbox s delightful to use-but some throws are slightly long-eg from 2nd to 3rd...our car s completed 1360km amd the mileage so far has been around 13kpl (60-70%ac)

      Ride Quality & Handling

ride quality is awesome....the suspension handles any bump with ease and hasnt bottomed out even once.the extra weight ensures excellent stability in a straight line but around turns there is a noticeable amount of body roll.

      Final Words

the value for money factor s undeniable...tata s brought out a winner in that dept.....

      Areas of improvement

a more powerful engine tops my wishlist for this car.....and if they can do that without increasing the price...excellent

      Update on Mar 25,2010

      hi all....

      just crossed 1800 km today....now @ 1802km.

the engine keeps getting smoother, the mileage s gone upto 14+ (at one point 14.8 kpl).the  fantastic torque delivery makes you forget the enigne s got only 65 horses and 96 nm...

played around with the seat and got into a more comfortable position....now its really a breeze to manouver given the commanding position from the drivers seat thanks to height adjustable seat and tilt steering.

some minor niggles ve crept in:-

1.the indicators refuse to turn off automatically once the turn is complete.

2.the spare tyre keeps losing air...

i ve contacted tata motors customer care and they ve promised me prompt action

overall my smile just got a few teeth wider since the last review......

      update after 3rd service

the engine has gotten a lot smoother....revs easily to 4000rpm(havent pushed beyond that)...the car seems to have acquired a spring in its step...torque as always-average amount delivered very cleverly....fallen in love with hydraulic ps and the road feedback...pulling and accelaration have improved....planning to go on a long drive....mileage update then i guess

ride quality, interior space, feature list, value for money factoronly 65 bhp on such a heavy car

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)         - There are several features that I love in my car like the seat height adjustment, steering adjustment. When it comes to space vista stands out among the hatchbacks. It has great room for 5 adults and the leg room in the front and rear is unbeatable. The seats are very comfortable. The console is excellent for the price we pay. The CD player does its job and not to be compared to Sony, etc.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox       - The Fiat engine is awesome and contradictory to what I read in some reviews you don't hear the engine noise inside the car. The Gear box and clutch are great when compared to other Diesel cars. I get 17-18 kmpl inside Chennai city with A/c.

Ride Quality & Handling -   Though it has power steering it is quite harder compared to Maruti. I wish Tata does something about this in their next version. I miss the ABS but glad that it is now available in the newer version. I've not driven above 80 Kmph and the overall the ride is great.

Final Words    -    I've had this car for 8 months now and have done 5000 miles. It's definitely worth the money and offers a load of features (music system, steering adjustment, seat height adjustment, lumbar support, fog lamps, rear wiper) compared to Swift that too for a lesser price. I've completed 2 free service and have had good experience contrary to the oft repeated complaint that their service is poor. I was even called for 4 FREE service camps so far and I have no complaints about their service. So much so that I am looking forward to upgrading myself to a Manza in the next 2 yrs.

Areas of improvement    -  The power steering can be improved and Tatas should drop the Indica tag and call this Tata VISTA. A light in the boot.

Value for Money, engine performance, the featuresNone but if forced I'd say the plastic interiors

      Exterior

Looks very aggressive car. Sharp looks and a new peatle head light integrated with indicators, and parking light and it has two saperate bulbs for high and low beam. this adds an upper hand on the maintainance. Side indicators are integrated with ORVMs which is a new thing.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Dual tone dash board gives a new and peppy look to it. Now no boring black interiors. In space Indicas are famous. It has a huge space inside, Legroom, head room, boot, etc .... you name it. It has a innovative drawer under passenger seat where you can keep your bottels. Seats are Hight adjustable and front seats comes with lumber support to give the right posture for long drives. Aura is equipped with 2 din audio system with 4 door mount speakers and front 2 dashboard mounted speakers. 60:40 foldable seats. Engine immobilizer, 4 doors power windows all this in a great price.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Engine is smooth. As far as I know DDiS engine used in SWIFT, Desire was the idea of Fiat. Fiat gave blue-Prints of this engine to Maruti, but Quardrajet engine is made by Fiat and handed it over to Tata motors where as Fiat is using the same engine named as Multijet in their cars. Its the same engine i.e. Quardrajet, DDiS, Multijet. These all endines are 1.3lts in capacity and they all had made their space in the motor industry in India as the most famous engines.

Due to this Indica Vista gives 20-22kmpl average on Highway and 16-17kmpl in city.

Since engine is made by Fiat hence gearbox is also refined and smooth.

      Ride Quality & Handling

smooth ride quality. I ran my car on some pot holes and I observed that, it handles it quite good. I am satisfied with its handling. It gives 20-21kmpl on Highway and 16-17kmpl in city ride. I had purchased my car on 2009

Myths - Diesel engines are for the people who drive their cars atleast 60KM per day is totally false. I drove my car after 2 months and I didn't had any problems. I always drive in city and rarely on highway. My average run is 5-6km per day.

      Final Words

awesome car in a reasonable price range. I bought it for Rs.5.25lacs with leather seat covers, a perfume bottle, rto approved sun screen, rust proofing and 4 free teflon.

      Areas of improvement

The quality of plastic used inside is average, it need more refinement.

good fuel economy, cool exterior looks, abundent space, peppy interiorsstearing wheel is a bit bigger, interior dash boadr, door trim quality is average.

Exterior It is a very stylish car with headlights of Chinese car.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) You may find all the requirement needed in your car like Bluetooth system, you can talk, listen songs etc. understood all the stupid people who don't like The VISTA.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox 75 bhp, 109 nm torque, it is sufficient for a city hatchback car with top speed 170km/r.

Ride Quality & Handling It has precise and smooth handling, no one can compare. Iy's a first class car. Its handling is equivalent to a racing car i.e. FERRARI

Final Words If you want to buy a hatchback car then it is the best and the perfect one with good mileage of 23km/l rather than i20,u-va, etc...

Areas of improvement Engine should be minimum 80hp and in all the edition as the need of quality is growing day by day and the rear light design must be changed don't keep it like the Indica V2.

everything is goodmileage of petrol version and its strength of engine
