      Hello All

Warning: This review is purely based on what i felt. This is not to play or harm anyone's feeling.

Let's begin. Well this we all need to accept that TATA's have really come a long way from 1998 Launch of Indica. The early modle had it's own problem as we all know the braking at high speeds but then in 2001 it was taken care.

From here the journey begins. We did see various upgrades, various different flavours but essentially the body never changed. Which only happened from Vista.

Vista looks pretty decent, though i don't wanna comment on that as it's own's personal choice. You be your master when it comes to STYLE...... Initially at first glance i didn't like the idea of moving the Instrument console to the centre from it's usual position (infront of driver's eye). But to tell you the truth it actually helps..... As for me i was able to see the road ahead much better compared to the previous version of Indica.

Comfort: It's the best among the hatchbacks there is no other competitor in this field for Vista. I20 which happens to be the worst for rear seat comfort, I10 happens to be marginaly better than I20. Swift and Palio which was were the best.. I would says happens to fail infront of Vista. Reason 3 average built 6' Six feet tall people were easly seated in the rear seat which doesn't happen in any of the Hatchbacks avaliable at this moment in India...

Performance: Well there is no doubt about the engine as you all know it's the same engine which is doing it's duty in Swift Diesel and Palio Multijet.   So i am sure you all know it's the best engine because it's none other than FIAT Stable manufacturers of Ferrari.....

Value for Money: Yes ofcouse as happens to be lot less expensive than other hatchbaks in India.

Fuel Economy: Gives me 19.2Km/L in City (Bangalore traffic) and gave me 23 on highway. Surely is the same as Swift / Palio diesel. No difference between the three (Swift Diesel, Palio Multijet / Indica Vista) when it comes to mileage or fuel economy....

Overall: TATA's need to do a lot of hardwork when it comes to plastic quality. As we all know TATA's only lag in one department that's the overall finish of the car. Infact Indica Vista Anniversary edition surprised me. As it was a better finished vehicle may be because it was costing 22k more than the regular one. But TATA's need to understand the fact that we won't mind paying bit more if we get a better finished vehicle as the anniversary edition. Please remember.

THAT"S ALL FROM ME> Comments always expected and will be welcomed with great pleasure..

Value for moneyAs usual with TATA's the Plastic quality...

For the price offered by TATA ideal for a cab usage for 3-4 years but may not suit a family as it still lacks refinement of an i10/Getz/Swift.

Lot better than Indica but only a TATA fan may be interested for this one. Long term mainenance cost has been high with TATA indica. Vista performance can be concluded after 2 yrs.

I wanted to change my indica v2. was contemplating whether to go for logan or swift when the vista was launched. I picked one of the  first vehicles (top end diesel) after a trial run. On a daily inner city travel of about 75 kms I find the driveablity very good not at all tiring despite the dense traffic.A/c is powerful. On going out of town I found that the response very good too and the traffic too much to really try this vehicle out. I started enjoying the vehicle. There is not much you have to do except to wanting to put sporty alloy wheels to make the look complete. I have done about 1000kms in 7 days and my love for the vehicle is increasing day by day. I am not allowing my driver to drive this vehicle yet. The mileage for the first fill was pretty good. I clocked around 16kms ( inside city with ac). The only thing I did not find was the head light beam adjustment wheel. The  stereo is good. One nice thing to note is that the car is a fully loaded one. The plastics seem to be  suspect and the  seat covers are mediocre and need to be changed immediately. But then how would the TaTas' make a profit after selling such a package at such a competitively low price ? Tata surely deserves more. Thank you Tata for bringing out an International product from India. Only ensure that the quality is equalled in all aspects.

good style, power, rideability, economy, spaceno headlight adjustment, squeaky, low quality seat covers,

Poor plastic finish,  bad interior dash board design, engine noise inside - though a similar engine is used in Swift.

better than the old indica but why the same name 'indica' and design...why not a change in design.... Door open (interior)/ Hood/ Rear design copied. Unnecessary four axis movement wheels for A/C control....not a mature design. Price is attractive but long run maintenance costs is a pain from TATA

Not suitable for a trendy user...boring & ugly car

better than the old indicaPoor plastic finish, blank looking dash board design, engine noise inside

Took a test drive of the Indica Vista top-end diesel variant, yesterday (30-Aug-08). Here are my views:

      Interiors:
         - Over the previous Indica this is a great improvement. Bright interiors make it feel big.
         - Dash plastic quality is much better
         - Top end variant has only fabric seats. A good idea would be to go in for Art leather seats
         - Integrated music system looks neat. Nippon brand. Music quality is decent.

        Design (Interiors)
         - Finally there is place for a bottle holder!!
         - Unlike the older Indica/Indigo, one can keep some stuff on the dash without worrying that it would
       slide out of the window
         - Display meter is very neat and easy to see
         - Temp Gauge is digital with bar display (like the battery meter in a mobile)
         - The bonnet-end is still not visible!! I guess it is same with all cars of this ilk
         - Power window switch is available on the door's itself and are neat.
         - Below front-passenger seat there is place to store regulat water-bottles

        Comfort (Interiors)
         - The seats are very comfortable (including the rear seats)
         - Driver & passenger seat has height adjustment which a great boon
         - The gear stick is not a gear stick but a joy stick!! Changing gears is a big leap when compared
with older Indica's & Indigo's - gear stick is easy to reach
         - Cabin Space has always been Indica's forte and continues to be in the Vista too
         - Noise intrusion (NHV) is drastically reduced. Engine itself is less noisy
         - 5 adults could comfortably sit

      Exteriors (Looks)
         - Needless to say the exterior is very pleasing
         - Twin headlamps to start with are very attractive
         - Turn indicators on the A pillar are attractive
         - Car stance is high and looks good
         - Rear wiper is big to clean bigger glass area
         - Door handles are very neat and gel neatly with the car body
         - ORVM's are big enough to comfortably see the world following!! They don't fold in completely though.

      Performance
         - A great leap. With 75bhp, 7-8 more than older Indica/Indigo, this is more powerful
         - What takes the cake is the way Torque is made available. 3rd gear acceleration is just amazing, even
while climbing inclines. Car simply refuses to be bogged down in any gear
         - Top speed to be around 165kmph
         - Expected fuel economy (14/15kmpl-city, 18/19kmpl-highway)

      Ride & Handling
         - Again an area where there has been tremendous improvement.
         - The suspensions are much better tuned. I rode the vehicle over decently bad roads and we could not
hear the suspension working. The car held it's balance well.
         - Tubeless tyres were provided which was good with road grip
         - Braking was decent

      Advantages
         - The car is longer & taller (almost like the Olympic motto!!) translating to more space
         - More powerful with better torque delivery makes this car pleasure to drive
         - Build of the car is solid. One feels secure inside the car

      Areas of improvement
         - ABS/Airbags could have been an option atleast
         - Boot (luggage space should have been more). Looks like the car has been designed to take Swift head-on
         - Front window glasses did not appear as solid as older Indica/Indigo's. Appeared slimmer.

Comments: With an on-road price of 5.7 lacs in Bangalore for the top-end diesel variant, this is a car which is a definite winner!!

High on style, comfort, performance, space, fuel economy & buld qualitySlightly short on boot space. No ABS/Airbag option.

I test drove Vista Saffire (Aura Version). when I started the engine, I could not even notice the car is started. becuase there is no noise inside the cabin and no vibrations at all. I feel like sitting in big sedans like Optra or Civic (i.e. sound insulation of vista is of same level as of big sedans). The noise of engine is very low as well as lot of care is taken on sound insulation part. Passengers in the rear seat definitely feel sitting in the Sedan.

While driving, I had to apply sudden breaks (to avoid hitting of moitor cyclist, who entered the road suddenly from side street), let me tell you the breaks are very effective and could able to stop in 5-10 seconds (from 30KMPH to 0KMPH) without any jerk inside the car.

AC is fine ( I dont say it is very good), because the kind of chill ness it is producing against the noise it is making is low. And compared to large interior space, they should have provided much powerful one.

The Gear to RPM setting of the engine is very good, you can be on 3rd gear most of the time in city traffic, engine does not make noise even at 20KMPH being at 3rd gear. car pickup is not very great but definitely more than sufficient for a normal car driver (unless you are SPEEDO driver, the Vista is more than enough to suit your power requirements).

Interiors is very good, I rate excellent and this car is no comparison to other B+cars in its segment (I have experienced Aveo UVA, Getz, Swift). The interiors of the car are comparable to the ones that are 2-3 levels above its class. Need to see about the quality/reliablity of the same. I believe as the car is from TATA, there wont be any issue.

The rear seat is not two fold one. Also the boot space is less especially wodth. All the space is consumed for passenger comfort only. So, if you are planning for mong trips in Vista, you need to think about the alternatives to carry the excess luggage. The boot can accomodate, 2 suitcases, 2 bags at max.

Overall, Indica Vista Saffire is excellent package for the price tag. You can enjoy riding the Sedan on the road with flexibility of small car in city conditions. If you planning for a family car (i.e. you drive with your family of 3-4 ppl most of the time), then you consider this as the best option.

I am so impressed by the drive, I booked the car immediately.

The Tata Indica Aura Safire 1.2 really lives up to be yet another masterpiece from the house of Tata. The beige interriors with the sophisticated dashboard is as soothing to the eyes as it's usefulness. The exterior of the car features striking headlamps shaped somewhat like eyes (in fact thats what it seemed to me with the lamps lit at night). Once you step inside the car, you find yourself comfortably seated in one of the most luxurious seats that a hatchback can sport. The driver seat with it's height adjustable lumbar support and front and back sliders makes driving a pleasure. The car features a power steering, which, again, is height adjustable. The passengers are drawn completely into the driving experience with the centrally mounted instrument console which boasts a tachometer and tripmeter. While making the car, as it seems, safety was one of the prime concerns of Tata and the car just breathes safety with it's every move. The safety acquires totality with the 3 point ELR seat belts, door ajar warning, central locking, rear door child safety locks, engine immobilizer and last but not the least, tubeless tires. The music player has been tuned to provide unmatched sound, having been mated with six speakers. The 2DIN audio system is capable of playing your favourite tracks from a pen drive or any other compatible USB device. Besides it also supports a headphone, thus enabling personalized entertainment. The floor console of the car has many utility spaces and you will never have to think again for some few extra pounds to carry. As one owning the car, I felt the Tata services quite satisfactory. But if you go for one, please be sure to check the car's finishing before they grant you possession of the car. As per my experience goes, when my car was delivered to me and I had driven half way to my home, I found the speedometer non-functional. I took the car immediately to the dealer who said that the engineer in charge of the delivery and inspection forgot to plug a wire. Although they fixed it in two minutes, I felt they should perhaps be more attentive while delivering a new car. The overall performance is just superb and I look forward to get more out of this car. It's a real beauty, with a beast engine inside that waits to be unleashed to it's total potential.Really roomy interriors, contemporary styling, superb ride quality and handling.Finishing not up to the mark, especially the roof rubber platings on the side.

Exterior :- Well, its chunky and well sliced up as compared to the swift since the swift has buldges over the back side which looks too ugly. The front look is wide enough to keep its presence felt. Folks, i would like to confess that the car looks small from the outside but just step in and see... there is a lot of space. The car is wide enough to accomodate 3 passangers in the back comfortably. Overall from the exterior point of view the car is well sorted out.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) :- If you choose for the AURA version, it has a load of features such as the driver's seat height adjustment (believe me - if you turn on to the maximum height it gives you the feeling of driving an SUV), it has the cellphone charger in the front and a laptop charger on the rear seat (right hand side behind the seat), its got the rear head rests which are adjustible, music system including the CD, Tilt steering (which is really comfortable when you adjust it along with the height adjustment - makes driving fun...), rear defogger, fog lights in the front as well as on the rear too. So its a great package but one has to compromise over the plastic parts to some extent. Yes, the glow of light at night when the entire electrical system is on, i mean the music system etc., the lights are so placed that it gives you the look of a sedan as far as the control panels are concerned. The Speedometer, tachometer and the fuel guage are well placed so that one does not really have to search them to read. Seats have the lumbar support which gets a perfect sitting position.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox:- GUYS, I RESEARCHED FOR ABOUT A MONTH FOR THIS STUFF AND WAS NARROWING BETWEEN THE SWIFT DIESEL AND THE VISTA. TECHNICALLY BOTH THE CARS HAVE THE SAME ENGINE, BUT THE POINT OVER HERE IS THE PRICE AT WHICH THE SWIFT IS BEING OFFERED AND THE VISTA (AQUA) HAS A DIFFERENCE OF ROUGHLY 1 LAC. THE VISTA UNDOUBTEDLY SCORES OVER THE SWIFT ESPECIALLY WHEN THE REAR LEG AND HEAD SPACE IS CONSIDERED. ONE ALSO NEEDS TO NOTE THAT THE PASSANGERS AT THE BACK TOO ARE JUSTIFIED IN DEMANDING COMFORT. ENGINE RUNS SMOOTHLY.... THE TURBO KICKS IN AT AROUND 1700-1800 RPM AND THE POWER IS AWSOME... IT SHOOTS LIKE A BULLET. BELIEVE ME YOU WOULD BE PUSHED TO THE SEATS...! THE FUEL EFFICIENCY REACHED BY ME IS ABOUT 22 KMS/LITER.  ITS ONLY BEEN ABOUT 6 DAYS THAT I HAVE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BUT I ASCERTAINED THE EFFICIENCY FIGURES AND I AM SURE THAT THE SAME SHALL RISE, BUT I TAKE CARE NOT TO ACCELERATE THE CAR AND DRIVE IT REALLY SMOOTHLY. AS FAR AS THE EFFICIENCY IS CONCERNED ANY CAR WOULD DROP IN THE FIGURES IF DRIVEN ROUGHLY.

Ride Quality & Handling:- THE VEHICLE IS REALLY SOLID AND EVEN ON THE ROUGH TERRAINS THE BUMPS ARE SOAKED WITHOUT ANY HASSELS BY THE CAR. SINCE THE CAR HAS BEEN FITTED WITH THE FIAT GEAR BOX WHICH IS A WELCOME, BUT THE SAME NEEDS A PRACTICE OF ABOUT A DAY TO GET USED TO THE SHIFTS. HANDLING ON CITY ROADS IS FUN SINCE THE CAR IS FITTED WITH THE POWER ASSISTED STEERING. EVEN ON THE 2ND AND THE 3RD GEAR THE POWER GETS DELIVERED SMOOTHLY, SO EVEN IN TRAFFIC ONE DOES NOT REALLY SHIFT TO THE 2ND GEAR FREQUENTLY. BELIEVE ME THE A.C. IS VERY POWERFUL, IT COULD CHILL YOUR CAR WITHIN 3 MINUTES (THIS AC SYSTEM COULD BE COMPARED TO THE CHEVROLET BEAT WHICH HAS A SIMILARLY POWERFUL AC - BUT THE POWER OF THE CAR IS REALLY DISAPPOINTING. YOU NEVER FEEL LIKE YOU ARE DRIVING A 80 B.H.P. VEHICLE - THE SANTRO OR THE WAGON R ARE MORE FASTER VEHICLES HAVING 64 B.H.P. ENGINES). THE BRAKES ARE REALLY POWERFUL AND THE CAR WOUDL STOP WITHOUT MUCH EFFORTS. REALLY SAFE! MANY TIMES EVEN IN THE DISC BRAKES CERTAIN AMOUNT OF LAG IS FOUND IF THE VEHICLE IS IMMIDIATELY BROUGHT TO A HALT, THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH THE VISTA, THANK GOD!

Final Words:- WELL IS YOU ARE AMONGST THOSE (I UNDERSTAND THE CONFUSSION YOU GUYS HAVE SINCE I HAVE BEEN THROUGH FOR SELECTING A CAR)WHO ARE HAVING AN OPTION BETWEEN THE SWIFT DIESEL AND THE VISTA 1.3 AURA QUDRAJET, I WOULD SUGGEST TO GO FOR THE VISTA AND VISTA ONLY. THE REASON IS REALLY SIMPLE, MARUTI DOES NOT GIVE THAT SPACE, TILT STEERING, MUSIC SYSTEM, DRIVER SEAT HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT, AND MOST IMPORTANT THE REAR SPACE AS COMPARED TO THE VISTA. MOREOVER IF YOU NARROW DOWN FOR THE VISTA AQUA THE PRICE DIFFERENCE IS APPROXIMATELY ABOUT 1.05 LACS! KEEPING THE DIFFERENCE WITH THE BANK AND EARNING INTEREST @7% WOULD TAKE CARE OF YOUR DIESEL EXPENSES FOR ABOUT 80% FOR A YEAR IF YOU RUN 300KMS EVERY MONTH! EVEN IF CALCULATED AS A LOAN INTEREST, YOU SAVE ABOUT RS. 2500/- APPROX. A MONTH (SORRY GUYS A AM A GUJARATI AND SO CALCULATE EVERYTHING). I KNOW THAT SOME OF YOU MIGHT BE QUESTIONING THE SERVICES AND SPARES AS FAR AS TATA IS CONCERNED, BUT THEY ARE EQUALLY GOOD AS MARUTI, MAYBE THEY ARE CHEAPER TOO AND AVALIABLE ROUND THE COUNTRY. SECONDLY I ADMIT THAT THE RESALE MIGHT NOT BE AS HIGH AS THE SWIFT, BUT FOLKS LETS CONSIDER THIS WAY-WHY TO THINK ABOUT THAT MOMENT WHEN THE CAR IS TO BE SOLD OFF, ITS BETTER USING A COMFORTABLE CAR WITH ALL THE FEATURES AND ENJOYING IT WITH THE ENTIRE FAMILY AND FRIENDS TILL THE TIME YOU POSSESS!

Areas of improvement:- ENGINEERS AT TATA REALLY NEED TO KNOW THAT THEY ARE BUILDING A PASSANGER CAR AND NOT A TRUCK AS FAR AS THE INTERIOR PLACTICS ARE CONCERNED. ON ALL OTHER COUNTS HATS-OFF TO THEM.

Space is incredible compared to the swift, has a good fuel economy, sturdy vehicleOne has to compromise over the interior plastic quality

Exterior Compared to previous cars, tata has given very good looks for this car. Back logo and front chrome grill is superb attraction and gives a manza look for this car.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Superb space, comfort sedan seats, good ORVM controls, Bluetooth support, very good music system. This can be swift killer, figo killer. U cannot get all these features in any brand car in this hatchback segment. Tata could have given little more bootspace. 3 people can seat comfortably and can squeezed 4 person. I can best value for ur money.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox No comments on engine FIAT quadrajet 1.3, the best in class.

Ride Quality & Handling Superb compared all other previous tata cars and good in its segment.

Final Words A perfect hatchback car, can be best seller in this segment because swift is overpriced and figo's mileage problem and high maintenance. I think TATA's have made first time  a perfect car. Mileage is superb. In city around its giving 15-17 kmpl. on highway its 20+.  Perfectly priced.

Areas of improvement Still better side looks. Air bags in VX Model. Bootspace improvement.

New looks, superb interiors, Dashing volume and bluetooth controls on SteeringStill improvement on exteriors, Airbags in Vx model missing

      Exterior

I love the looks. The head lights looks really good. It looks nothing like the old indica.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Great space and comfort. I happened to go out with my family of 5. They were pretty amazed with the comfort levels. My brother has an indica turbo the older version and this is definitely roomier. The seats are very comfortable and large. I do not like the looks of the clarion stereo but the usb port in the front and aux in enable me to connect my phone to the stereo and use it like a hands free device. the call plays through the speakers.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

I have completed 35000 kms now and she is even better than before. Its a fantastic car . No problems so far...touchwood. The engine is as smooth as silk and the gear box is becoming smoother with every gear changed./ Really want to do a long distance drive. Have covered 35000 kms till now. no major issues till now. I love the car.

I crossed 160 + kmph. felt safe. Steering is a bit vague

      Ride Quality & Handling

Excellent ride quality over bumpy and potholed roads. You just cannot feel the bumps unless it is a huge pothole.

Handling is not great and the steering is vague. If that  can be changes then this would probably be the best hatchback around.

      Final Words

I have absolutely no complaints. I am very happy with my purchase. My experience with the service centre too has been excellent . I had read the other users complaints and was apprehensive to buy this product. However the discounts and VFM made me buy it. I have absolutely no complaints. If you are thinking of buying it...go for it. It is a no problem vehicle.

      Areas of improvement

The finishing could have been better. Panel gaps thinner. Better plastics. I wish there was an arm rest in the middle.
