I bought Indica V2 Turbo DLS BS III in June 2006 – my 1st car. I bought this car after having driven almost all small segment cars. I have since driven 40K kms in 3 & half years. 60% on highway & 40% in city. I have always re-fueled the tank full and have measured the mileage each time. The mileage I constantly get in city is 16.5-17.5 kmspl and on highways 21-22 kmspl (@ speed of 80/85 kmsph). It’s a very economical car - per KM cost in city works out between Rs.2.20 & on highway Rs.1.75.
The car is very spacious, comfortable & smooth running vehicle - I have undertaken long trips - driving upto 650-750 kms per day. The stability/road grip is fantastic and the AC is very effective. Unlike non-turbo version of Indica, its pick-up is not sluggish even with AC on. The initial pick-up cannot be compared with that of a petrol car of its segment but later on it is as good. The roll-on acceleration, as in all diesel cars, is very good.
It’s comfortable for city drive as well - though handling is not as easy as it is in WagonRs, Santros & the like. Nevertheless, it is only a matter of getting used to it - especially as you don’t get to see an inch of bonnet (howsoever tall you may be).
It’s a very sturdy & safe car with a strong body. The interiors are sufficiently good / more than good for the cost of the car (higher versions DLG/DLX have better interiors & more facilities). The Turbo model has since been discontinued. The engine is now used in Vista TDi with little more power & torque.
Fuel efficient, spacious & comfortable, sturdy & safeNothing as such, for the price it comes atExterior/Styles

Purchase Experience
Very Bad - TATA Dealers have earned an enviable reputation of not being
friendly with their customers & they work overtime to retain the
reputation. I’ve had my share of woes, whereby I was EDUCATED that CNG fitment
is approved by TATA Motors and my warranty shall remain valid along with the warranty
of Vehicle. I learnt, after my purchases that CNG for 1.2 L XETA has not even
been approved by Delhi Transport Authority leave alone the TATA Motors warranty.
However, TATA Motors claims that this shall soon be sorted out & they are leaving no stone unturned to give their Customers CNG fitment facility (I’m not sure how many stones remain and whats the time-frame for turning all stones on right direction)
Initial Cost of Ownership:
Interiors &
Comfort
Great – simply super, lots of space and beige colour
interiors gives you feel of a BIG car, which is unmatched in this segment. Dashboard
looks refreshing and boasts of better finish that ever before. Seating is
perfect especially for long drives; you’ll never get tired feeling of driving this
Car on long routes. Not to mention the freebies like Central Locking, Power
Steering, Front power windows, rear defogger, Air Conditioner + Heater, body
coloured bumpers etc. that comes along with this Version of Car.
However, there is a let down on the storage space aspect in the Vehicle, only on this account, the Car looks unpractical.
Ride &
Performance
Simply superb - Indica Xeta is the answer to Delhi governments answer to mismanagement on roads including bad flexible roads, potholes. She works like magic even in the traffic ridden Delhi with ease and have answers to all the problems that you might have driving on such roads. The ride is great with a few exceptions that Car drags a bit on lower speeds and often threatens to give you a rough feel, though it becomes more than perfect when driven on 30+ speeds.
Mileage with AC has been variable from lows of 11.2 to 12.5 Kmpl in City, which is pretty acceptable to me as an individual.
Comparisons
I have owned Maruti 800 / Alto 1.1 / Santro Xing but this Vehicle is in different class of its own and by all stretch of imagination, this one wins THUMBS UP…

I had purchased an Indica Xeta CNG Reg. No. DL 8CM 3308 on the occasion of Diwali last year 2006 from their dealer Pawa Motors. Ever since I purchased this car, I am going through mental as well as physical torture and harassment. This car started giving troubles from the day of its delivery. Till date it has gone for repairs on several occasions and various parts have been replaced without any success.
I am tired of sending numerous complaints to Tata Motors and to their dealer Pawa Motors. Every time they ask me to bring the car to their workshop and then they keep it under repairs for several days. Thereafter they give delivery of unsuccessfully repaired car with false assurance that the car has been successfully repaired.
I am sorry to state that till date all faults remain as they were. This car stops suddenly on a busy running road. As a result of which, I have already met with accidents and by the grace of god just survived my life and the lives of my family members.
As of now, I am not able to use this car. Even after repairing and replacing several parts on numerous occasions, Tata Motor is not able to successfully repair this car. This compels me in demanding the refund of my money.
Almost every month this car is needed to be sent for repairs to their workshop. Till date they are just doing experiments, researches and trials without any success. Even at present my car is lying at their workshop under repairs. Its not only me who is facing manufacturing defects in this car. Whenever I visit their workshop, I could see many other XETA customers who are also going through nightmares after purchasing this car. I am in touch with many of such harassed customers and we are planning to open a forum in order to collectively take this matter to the higher authorities.
I WOULD LIKE TO WARN OTHERS NEVER TO PURCHASE A TATA CAR. I HAVE ALREADY LOST MY HARD EARNED MONEY AND I DO NOT WANT OTHERS TO GO THROUGH THE SAME HARASSMENT WHICH I AM GOING SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED THIS CAR
Also note that TATA people are shameless and are not at all concerned about their customer’s grievances.
