We had taken the delivery of Volkswagen Vento 1 .6 Petrol HIGH LINE M-Ton 5th Sep 2015.

To our Astonishment the Clutch failed on 20th Aug 2016 (Within a year of purchase). We got it repaired from Shaman Cars Pvt Ltd. Volkswagen Downtown, R A Kidwai road, sewree-west, Mumbai – 400015 on 20th Aug 2016 Paid Rs: 17249/- (fact was the car was under warrant for 2 years & we had taken AMC for 2 years).

Now Again on 15th Jan 2018 car was giving pick up problem, Car was inspected by the service center at Shaman Cars Pvt Ltd. Volkswagen Downtown, R A Kidwai road, sewree-west ,Mumbai – 400015, and on inspection they informed the Battery defect and given an appointment on 16th Jan 2018. (No Battery Defect was detected on the appointment date so your executive wants to make money for your company).

On 16th Jan 2018 car was given for checkup and same was attended by service Advisor Mr.Suraj Suvarna inspected the car and he found clutch hard and took for general checkup. At around 4: 00 p.m. The advisor informed the cost will approximately Rs: 35,000/= for Clutch and flying wheel replacement. (Why did the advisor not give a written Estimated rather than committing verbally?) On this I asked for Warranty, he informed no warranty for clutch. So I collected the car back with an estimate charges of Rs: 1593/- was paid. (Why it was not informed earlier about the estimate charges?).

Since it deems as the Company has provided with a defective clutch which did not last for a year & also the service center which replace the clutch didn’t last long as the same was also defective.

Now i read review that many people have face the clutch issue.

      Exterior Looks good ,ELEGANT.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Space is good for a small family,Ciaz and honda city is more spacious. Not much features, but most features in other cars of the same like are simply gimmicky. Reasonably comfortable.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I own a vento petrol TSI, bought from Alappuzha showroom on november last 2016. Till now I have driven around 7500 kms as on may 2017.Gear shift is unnoticeable. Engine is less noisy, but not as silent as a honda. I did own a honda city 2007 model which i sold to one of my friends. It has done around 80000 kms. Last month when I have driven the honda 2007 model, I was amazed by the refinement of the engine. It is that silent.

Initial pick up is good, acceleration generally is good although there is a slight unnoticeable delay. Being an automatic there is no lag in gear shift, you wont notice the gear shifting. It is stable evn at triple digit speed. Breaking is also good. But that said the new honda city cvt is also quick in accelerating. There is no noticeable lag in city cvt too (I have taken a test drive). I was inclined to buy a city cvt but the sole reason why I bought vento was because one of my friend is working as sales manager at alappuzha showroom.

Fuel economy: Varies between 9 to 18. In city traffic, you can expect 12 kmpl on an average which can go low upto 9 kmpl. But on highways I get an average of 15 kmpl. But I have managed to get upto 19 kmpl driving on constant speed.

CONS: After driving around 3000 kms, Some awkward sound (like Sucking air) was heard when shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to third. The sound happened to increase after few more kms which I reported to Alappuzh ashowroom. They have checked my vehicle but unable to identify the problem. The vehicle was taken to Ernakulam maradu showroom for further inspection. They rectified the problem and it was found that the engine belt tensioner was loose. (It was tightened).  The problem occured again after around 7000 kms.I have informed the same to Ernakulam showroom. But they told me that they dont have the earlier records of repair of my vehicle.(I was shocked by the negligence). They told me to take the vehicle to ernakulam which is around 60 kms from my home. Many of my friends have told that VW after sales is too bad and once a problem starts you will get stucked.Otherwise VW is a good choice.Hope they will rectify my problem permanently. Because for every 3000 kms it would be very difficult for me take the vehicle to the showroom to tighten the belt. I suspect the reliablity of the vehicle.

Ride Quality & Handling Reasonably comfortable, Handling too superb,You will feel a greater sense of control when taking turns and breaking.

Final Words Good vehicle until intil it generates problems.

Areas of improvement After sales as every body say. The dealings from the showroom was not bad till now. Hope it continues and they take care of the costumer satisfaction. You have to be aware that the thud sound when doors are closed doenot have any thing to do with the strength of the vehicle. It is just a marketing hype. In fact in NCAP rating( I dont remember the year), Honda city scored more than Vento. You can google it. But honda city doesnt have that typical thud sound. It is the structural integrity, the materials used and other passive and active safety features which do matter and not the hyped thud sound.

Shall review after another 4000 kms.

Good torque, Racing enthusiast will like, Good suspension, Feels solid,High speed stabilitySuspect reliabilty, Mileage not that good, Back space is just OK,After sales not exeptional

Riding Experience. The best car in the c class segment for the driving enthusiast. I have driven the car for 50,000 Km and still I feel it to be brand new and refined as in the beginning in terms of engine refinement. Service and maintenance. Service and maintenance cost of Volkswagen car is very high. It cost me on average 10,000 to 15,000 INR per normal service for every 11,000 Km. And repair cost if any damage happened will be very high. Also servicing is not as easy as Maruthi/ Tata cars. This one requires specific tools which only the dealers will provide. Sometimes it can even take months to get a part replaced. Pros --- Driving dynamics ( you can comfortably cruise at 90 to 100 Km/hr without any effort and I have even taken 40 to 60 degree turns at 50 km/hr without any body roll). Gear shift is silky smooth and the engine performance is best in the segment in terms of refinement (I have driven all the cars in this segment). While driving we get good feedback and always feel connected to the road. Cons --- Expensive maintenance, Not suitable for rough drive, Ground clearance of the vehicle is very poor. So, if 4 normal people are traveling with average luggage Vento will struggle with almost all the bums and potholes. Unlike other cars during the journey if any breakdown happens local mechanics would not be able to help as and will have to wait for the service station to pick up. Suggestions --- (1) If you are going to buy Volkswagen I suggest you to always take comprehensive insurance. (2) Buy it only if you are going to drive the car because multiple car owners can easily depreciate the car. (3) as warning the resale value of Volkswagen car is very poor (4) You will have to constantly replace parts for smooth running which will cost you extra.

      Exterior

       styling is elegant

its the same with polo and vento thats a big setback there should be a a difference that people can see

one good thing is that volkswagen doesnt keep badges based on trims like other car brands like Vxi V S etc

thats actaully good as most of the premium car manufatures doeant do that

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

interors doesnt look so attractive but they are really comfortable but you get very less features.

the AC knobs and other things are just strong enough to sustain a long time. there are no bells and wistles here like that of city touch screen AC ,imagine your hands begin wet will the AC work then ???

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

A++++++++ the geabox stores your driving patterns and adjusts accordingly.....the gearbox is the main attraction for the car

      Ride Quality & Handling

driven the car @ 200 ... just stable at the edge of it limit. suspension is good

      Final Words

The car is really good, thought of buying honda city but belive there sucess of increasing number of sales has got into there heads...verna is bad with ride quality and the left options were vento and rapid ...skoda is not good in service department so finally gone to volkswagen vento TDI DSG HIGHLINE

      Areas of improvement

service cost should be reduced and competative features should be updated in parallel to other cars

Engine and gearboxfeatures are very less and space is bit less

      Exterior

2015 june facelift is excellent in its styling at a mininum cost. new alloy is good. tail lamp is eye catching. front grill and air dam is stylish and agressive

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

cruse control is most welcome in this segment. finally dead pedal. there is option for 2 more speakers behind the rear seats, so no need to cut the rear storage pad to install speakers or woofers.

XX ---desert beige color is not as rich or not as sporty. FULL BLACK IN POLO GT is much better and sporty.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

hatsoff to DSG gearbox, fuel economy is at its best. incredible power at 2500rpm is enough to take over all the cars in front of you and with that DSG keeps up in better milage.

      Ride Quality & Handling

      Amazig ride quality

      Final Words

Best sedan wilt excellent features = VW vento

      Areas of improvement

color options, Black color is missing

      better tyres needed.

DGS gear box, Best in class milage, tuff as tank. curse controlblack color is missing

Exterior Good Exterior and gives a nice look from outside

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Not spacious and my head is hitting the roof while entering into driving seat and in exit even though my height is < 6feet..I am using a Dzire which is very comfortable in terms of space.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fuel Economy is below average.Company offers 20.64 but getting < 15.

Ride Quality & Handling Need gear changing whenever you apply brake.

Final Words I bought a New Vento in Aug'2015.Within 2 months of use the wheels and some inner parts started rusting and I reported this matter to the dealer KTC,Cochin.I was surprised with their response as they said it's common in VW cars and nothing to worry. But when I insisted on solution they said they want to consult with the company and they need the vehicle in their custody for 2-3 days to discuss with their plant..This is again shocking as they don't care about the inconvenience to the customer by keeping the vehicle in their custody just for the discussion with their plant. They said plant will ask lot of quieries and they want the vehicle to be in their workshop till the discussion is over..Why the customer has to suffer for their inefficiency which I don't understand..Also the mileage is very poor. The company offers 20.64 but getting nearly 12 to 13 in city and 16 -18 in highways.

Areas of improvement Need lot of improvements in Customer Service infact I had faced an unfair trade practise from the dealer. After lot of follow ups I got the refund of excess money collected by the dealer. I did a blunder by buying this New Vento and plan to dispose off.

StabilityPoor Quality of Materials -My Car starts rusting within 2 months

      Exterior

It is good and appealing. Well finished

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Less space, behind back we can't keep any thing. below dashboard only one packet, no seperation to keep various loose items like keys, mobile, bills, combs etc.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

I purchased AT diesal top model. Fuel economy is good on cruse control otherwise  poor. Engine pickup very poor. Gearshift makes high noise and sound.(Initially it was not there) It happened after 2000 km drives. Gear Vibrations can be felt on steering. No rear park camera and navigation.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Seating comfort is poor in comparision to Ford fiesta and Suzuki modles.

      Final Words

On the bases on big Brand Vento and only AT (Autotransmission gear in diesal)  I purchased Vento top model AT. But not at all satisfied. My earlier Ford fiest is much more superior in ride, less vibrations . seating comfort, interior, pick-up, speed  and safety.

Vento AT giving noise and sound during auto gear shift.

Also now a days every car has got navigation and rear park camera. The Vento does not have even in top most model which is very much required now a days.

      Areas of improvement

      1. Improve Seating confort.

      2. Reduce noise in Auto gear shift.

      3. Reduce vibration on steering specially on low gear.

      4. Provide Rear park view camera and navigation system.

      5. Provide training to the dealer about how to treat and deliver car to esteemed customers.

      6. Provide seperate pockets below dash board as presently only one big is given. Learn from Ford.

Exterior The design itself is a timeless design which ages well, right from launch the car was subjected to exterior tweaks. During 2015 the major facelift was witnessed and thanks to family face which resembles Passat like front styling. During 2017 the Vento Highline Plus was showcased with DRLs like Jetta stying. One thing important that I noticed is he vento is AUDI 80 way back. Thanks to wiki.

The Vento Highline Plus comes with either 15" or 16" alloys. I opted for 16" alloy wearing "Goodyear Assurance Tripple Max of size 195/55 R 16 87H", which are capable of 210kmph max speed at 2080kg max load. The alloys looks like they are of class above from Passat.

The Headlights were very bright and through n spread was commandable, thanks to the auto leveling feature.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The Vento comes with a 6" touch screen with Reverse Camera, Android Auto, Apple Car Play and various inputs except CD. The steering is both tilt and telescopic adjustable, the steering is leather wrapped and cusion is on firmer side. The foot well lamps lit the leg room very well.

Boot is very squary in shape and can swallow luggage for a 10 days trip, however the transmission tunnel is huge and its not a 5 seater car, 4 will be a better option, well suited for long drives.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Since the engine is turbo charged despite 1200cc you get a punchy 175NM of torque which never fails to put a smile accross. The DSG is imoeccable at lightning gear shifts, and can reach triple digit in 10.8 seconds. With front seats occupied, cruising at 80kmph, with all tyres 36psi, AC in 24 temp for a trip of 55km I managed to extract 18+ kmpl.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride is very stable and thanks to the stiffer suspension however the rydes in city can soak potholes almost and can be felt through the cabin, wind noice can filter into cabin post 140+ kmph and cabin insulation is very good in its class. Braking and pickup are very impressive.

      Final Words I feel like

      City: Hot meal served cold.

      Verna: Junk food.

      Ciaz: Diet meal.

If you are looking for an understated and timeless design, performance, tank like build quality and fun to drive yet economical Vento TSI is one for you.

      Areas of improvement

Missed an opportunity to install 6 airbags.

Moon roof will deffinetly give an edge over competetion.

Expanding into Tier 2 cities will build confidence among masses.

DSG GEAR BOX, AUTO LEVELING LED HEAD LIGHTS & IMPECCABLE RIDE AND HANDLINGNO TIER 2 CITIES COVERAGE, 6 AIR BAGS WAS A MISSED OPPORTUNITY

I bought the 2019 Vento Highline Plus TSI Petrol AT variant. In my research to decide the car and variant, I test drove the Verna, Rapid and City’s equivalent models and compared them on price, drive quality, features, after sales service and safety ( considering I have an infant child). Drive Quality: The Turbo charged TSI petrol engine of the Vento have the best refinement, albeit not the least noisy, and the much required ‘zip’ coupled with reasonable fuel economy amongst all. The transmission was by far the smoothest with the Dual-Clutch DSG gear box taking the cherry. This was the biggest draw in the segment for me. The flat-bottomed sporty steering wheel adds to thebalready fantastuc handling of the vehicle, which is underpinned by its steady, sturdy presence on the road. The individual rear suspensions make for the least bumpy ride in the segment. Features like auto-dimming mirror, rain sensing vipers, ORVM with electronic closing make for a comfortable drive in the whole. Features: Vento is obviously not the most feature packed car, like the Verna, in this segment. However, VW have ensured that it has all the necessary features and then some frills. The cooled glove box is welcome addition as it helps the keep the infant milk bottle cool over a long drive. The rear reading light is also helpful. The color tones of the interior and the seat quality is great, and the easy to adjust passenger seat controls from the rear are very convenient. The new 8inch touchscreen music system with integrated Apple CarPlay (Android Auto) makes for handsfree driving all the time. Cruise Control is something I am yet to check out. Ample boot-space ( not the highest in this segment). Sun-roof is missing, but like I said it’s not a ‘necessary’ feature for some. The LED headlights with cornering along with DRL and powerful fog lamps make it equipped for all conditions driving. And they give a somewhat endearing and refreshing look to an otherwise unchanged exterior appearance. In some variants there is a generous sprinkling of chrome all over the exterior which may attract some. Some features that could have been added are ORVMs closing in power off (Verna), key less entry and start stop button. Another feature I definitely miss from my previous car is the storage pockets on the door next to the power window controls. Build Quality: Solid, is the word here. No compromises anywhere, typical excellence of German engineering. No tacky, plasticky feel anywhere. Body, fittings, accessories..everything is top class. Big big plus. Safety: Key features like Dual Airbags, ABS, EBD, Hill Hold Control (AT), auto door lock from outside, all 4 power windows with one touch and anti-pinching, key controls for windows and boot, seat belt warning, head light indicator are standard inclusions which is fantastic. In my variant, there are additional features like side air bags in front, parking camera. The lack of air bags at the rear are a concern though. Price: Most competitive pricing I believe in this segment when you compare what features you are getting at the price you are paying. The buying e perimeter was also great although it took some time to get the variant and color of my choice. Service: In the first year of purchase, VW is offering 3 free services as against its sister concern Skoda which is giving 4 year service package at approximately 30,000 INR. This would have been a better option to give since the car requires only one service a year. The service center options are limited when you compare Hyundai, Honda and Skoda.
