I recently bought this beauty in its TSI form and have already clocked 700+ kms. Only one word to explain my experience till now - astonished.
Kitna deti hai? - 15 kmpl (25% city, 75% highway), but I would request Indians to grow up and stop asking and making this a deal-breaker. Ask yourself is 1Kmpl worth more than your life?
A driver's delight - Just push the pedal and there you go, one won't even realize when it has already touched 80 kmph. The steering feedback is indeed the best I've experienced in any car, to set a context my immediate and first family has owned more than 30 different products in the last 5 years. Even for Ride, one can't ask from any vehicle. So composed and planted, even 150 kmph feels like you're driving at a two-digit figure. I would like to bring only one car in this segment can have a head-on with this car - Tata ALTROZ.
Space and practicality - If you travel solo or in a couple's format think nothing else, but if buying a car is a decision based on family, one should not consider this car. The rear seat is good enough for two people ONLY. You can't expect 3 small people to squeeze in - thanks to a big transmission tunnel. Buy Altroz without any doubts if buying a car is a family affair for you.
Build and safety - The deciding factor for my family. Close the door once and most probably you're gonna be a Polo owner. The thud not even assures great safety but also adds a premium feel. Altroz is a notch better than this, but this one not way bad. Our family did not consider any other option in the market in this space.
Ownership and running cost - Another elephant in the room. Mine gave me an average of 15-15.5 kmpl, with AC and 25% city drive. Not bad, but if you've Marutis/Hyundais in your mind you'll be a little disappointed. For me, other factors made justice and made me neglect this one. Service cost will indeed bring a hole in your pocket.
Features and looks- I think VW is not listening to what customers have to say. This so-called premium hatch will not offer you some of the market standard features of a premium car, to name a few - rear camera, push-button start, rear armrest, speed door locking, only 4 speakers.
Buying experience - This won't be a delight until you're there for the delivery of the vehicle. The dealerships are not the best ones in the business. But last day formalities will be taken off quite well. Be assured your requested accessories won't be given to you before 3 months, refunds requests will be ignored every time.
