Exterior I have never seen a better looking car then Polo in this segment in india. amazing paint job and absolute worthy of have a VW badge on itself.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very good quality again with the fibre and plastic, good front leg room and head room, not enough leg room in the back but not something that cant be managed. Beautiful sound system with amazing red lights gives a very sporty feel.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox This is the best thing about this car... its sounds so amazing that you wouldnt believe it. Give you a feeling of nice sports car with a price of small car. Feather touch gearbox it is so smooth that you just need a finger to move it, highways awesome economy in the city max i get is 12 with Air con engine revs to 8k RPM and the way it catches speed is mindblowing. couldnt really put a finger on the engine performance and gearbox.
Ride Quality & Handling The steering is so responsive that i couldnt believe that this car was sold in india that this price. No bullshit steerings like Hyundai or Chevy or Fiat for that matter. the car sticks to the road as its glued (in a nice way) and doesnt budge. I took it confidently to 220 and I swear not a single nudge either from the front of the rear. amazing ground clearance and kick ass shock abosorbers.
Final Words About two months ago i was roaming around with cash for a new car. checked everything thing but couldnt really feel that spending 5 to 6 lacs on a car and I was getting its worth. I could feel cheap plastic and dirty finish everywhere. Plus the interiors of most of the cars were claustrophobic and dull. all though they had features like steering controls and Auto Air con... i just couldnt picture myself sitting in a dump like that ... and half the time i wont be using those features anyways. so whats the point... i went in to VW showroom. The car he showed me was 1.6 highline and i was sold. after searching the car for 2 months I couldnt believe myself that i was sitting in the car that i would love to pay for and not feel cheated. who cares what others say... a good driver can always tell the difference btw a good car and a bad by just riding it. so if anyone out there is planning to pick up anything else and not a polo. I would suggest pls go and take a test drive once and dont go on reviews. cos lot of the time is just people bashing and hating a good thing... so go out there and take a test drive and you will know what this country has been missing in Automotive in past 64 years. the Zen of automation :).
Areas of improvement just increase the rear leg room and it will be a picture perfect car and while you are at it. How about putting in a jazzzy button start :D.

1. Need to book a prior appointment before service.
2. Minimum 10 days for service and delivery.
3. Never serviced and delivered as promised.
4. Worlds Worst customer service and after sales service from ABRA motors chennai.
5. You can buy this car for its build quality and car delivers as expected, but if you are ready to undergo pain and bare it for its worst after sales service (ASS), please go ahead
6. No itemised bill or nothing for service... simply the workshop manager will quote as 1500, 2500..etc. (Depends on his mood)... please pay and take your vehicle out.
7. Minimum 25 calls to supervisor, workshop landline and beyond it ( ABRA Motors, chennai)
Areas of improvement
Need more service centers and 10 days and above for normal service with prior appointment basis 10 days before... which costs 30 days of your time to schedule your appointment , service it and deliver it back.
Better dont buy this vehicle if you are in chennai and if purchased already ready to bare the pain with one and only service centre in chennai ( ABRA Motors)

This is the best styled premium hatch. One look at this in person and you have to get hooked. I have owned VWs in the past (Scirocco/Passat) and this one matches those in pleasure to look at.

Great seating, super ergonomics, typical VW controls including smooth stick shift, nothing to complain about
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Since Govt of India mandates some of the parameters for car manufacturers, VW has met those with flying colors. The 1.2 engine is good for peppy acceleration, super smooth and great fuel efficiency. Gearing is appropriate and the car pulls well in low speed driving as well as attain high speeds on the highway. Fuel economy/performance is inversely proportional to the weight of the car. If weight is higher then expect lower performance/efficiency. Thus one should avoid comparing Polo's efficiency or perfromance with light weight tin boxes from other manufacturers. If you put Polo's engine in those cars, they will perform even better.
Ride Quality & Handling
Handling is excellent on curves and this sits like a rock on the expressway at 140+ kmph. If you need any better handling performance than that, then look to change to wider lower profile tires
Final Words
Having owned VWs in the past, was looking to have one, but could not afford or justify buying any of the current imported versions. VWs announcement to introduce Polo was the best news that I could have come across. Bought one in the first week they started selling it and was lucky to have it delivered close to plan. The Polo has since replaced my earlier drive Ford Fusion 1.6. The Ford's gone to the wife and I don't miss driving it one bit. Anyone who drives the Fusion 1.6 (According to me the #1 Grand Hatch of the Indian road) would know that any car (1.2 Polo) has to be outstanding to be accepted as as a worthy match for the Ford. And I am glad to say that it certainly is a match for the Fusion, not withstanding the one area (Absolute Power) in which the Fusion has the advantage.
The Polo also has given new opportunities to own a VW and thus rekindling the VW experience with the Scirocco/Passat
Areas of improvement
VW should sell products based on their own strategy around the world. Is the reason we are finding some silly demarkations of Polo models because some pathetic marketeers think that removing wipers, boot lids, bonnet insulation etc and other standard/safety features can be used to create market segments within the Polo line up? Don't know if these are Indian or German brains at work, but if it is the former, then VW could do well to get rid of them from its management.
More localization may mean lowering of quality. It is apparent on one part on the car - The rear view mirror. I am not talking of the size of the mirror, but rather its functionality. I have seen this mirror performing differently on 3 different cars I tested in the showroom. Only one got this spot on correct by not disturbing the frame of the view when flipping from day to night view setting. My car has it wrong and I have already raised an issue with the dealer.

This mail is to bring to the buyers' attention the blatant disregard for a customer that can be from VW's dealerships.
I purchased a Volkwagen Polo Highline Diesel in December 2011.
The car was given to the Volkswagen Motinagar authorized workshop for the first service of the car in May. Since then I have been continuously harassed by your company's representatives ever since owing to service failure.
Following are the problem areas
1. Time taken for servicing: 3 days as compared to 24hrs delivery as promised by the customer representative.
2. Malfunctioning of Body Control Unit reported. Cust. rep. assured me that it will be imported and replaced. Have not heard from him since 2 months
3. The power window lock has got stuck
4. The steering wheel is giving cranky noise and is not operating smoothly
5. The axle is giving a creaking sound
Ever since the first service I am facing some or the other issue and I am very much saddened and angered at the same time by the utter lack of service and respect for a customer.
I assure you that I will never be recommending Volkswagen as a car to anybody in my circle
This has forced me to take extreme actions one of which I am contemplating is put a graffiti (DO NOT BUY THIS CAR) and roam the car all over NCR.

Request you to kindly take some concrete steps apart from usual customer care calls.

If you drive the car in a traffic congested area like kolkata then hatchback is the best option. though polo is a hatchback its interior is like sedan. at highway I drive it around 150km/hr. but there is no problem and its journey is smooth which u dont get at swift or ritz. Its body is very strong like ambassador and warranty of body is 6 years and coolen warranty is 15 years which u dont get at same ranged other cars. some parts of polo is made by audi. But mileage is not so good which is more important now a days. as the car is made by german engineers its longgibity is far far better than maruti suzuki, honda, hyundai, tata etc. 1st service of polo is at 15 thousand km or after 1 year used where maruti is taken to service centre thrice a year. so buddy go for it and experience a sporty drive within 7 lacs.

I have several complaints about the product
1. Safety feature of the vehicle:- The brochure says that the vehicle is equipped with Central locking. I noticed that the vehicle the doors open while the vehicle is running. I complained about this to Dealer Service and was I was shocked to hear Dealer VW executive say the vehicle DOES NOT having central locking. This is a serious flaw in the design of the car. The only reason I purchased the car was because I found it had all the safety features necessary to protect my 3year old kid, but am terribly afraid to take her around after I found the vehicle has compromised the safety of the passengers. Shahrukh Khan and VW have portrayed the vehicle as one of the safest but I must confess they are fooling you. This is absolutely not expected from a GERMAN Engineering. The real question is how did ARAI approved such a vehicle. If I was in the US I would have definitely filed a law-suite for this. Nobody cares to look about this during test ride
2. Service after 15000 KM:- I personally feel VW as a company does not want to face the customer. The company/ its representative never comes to face the customer. I think it is because of these issues with the vehicle listed in this email. This is not told during test drive.
3. The jazzy lighting on the car dashboard:- The driver is distracted in the night because of the lights on the dashboard reflect in the rear view mirror.
4. Only two window controls on the driver side:- Even after paying 7.21 L you only get 2 window controls on driver side. A vehicle like Estilo which is priced 4.5 L has all the window controls on the driver’s side along with auto window action for driver convenience. Here I must admit I was misguided by the sales person who said 1.6 L highline has all four window controls on driver door which was not true.
5. Spare tire of different dimension:- The spare tire has different dimension. VW gives stupid argument for their misery that the spare tire should be used as spare. I want to ask VW how much have they saved on the tire ? I felt cheated here
6. Nut and Bore Mechanism for fixing tires:- This I think is the only vehicle I have seen till date that has bores on the plate where the tire is fixed. Most companies have a nut upon which the tire is to be rested and then nuts need to be fastened. Just imagine a female who is in middle of nowhere trying to fix the tire. Matching the holes is a nightmare and it takes 1-1.5 hr to match and fix the tires. This is pathetic design- Shame if it is a GERMAN DESIGN. Nobody changes tires during test ride.
7. Only one side lights glows in reverse:- This is another life threatening feature of the vehicle. If you are backing up in reverse gear on foggy road this feature will surely land you in trouble. This also can put you in danger when you are backing up and the LHS side fuses go off. The dealer says this is in accordance to European standards ---The question I have am I living in EUROPE? Then why are there no Indian standards? Isnt ARAI listening..? I found this after I reached home after taking the delivery so was not told to me again and no question of this being caught during test ride.

Exterior Its a car designed brilliantly.. The design is very simple and will appeal for a decade. A simple word to describe about Polo design is "A CUTE AND NEAT CAR" in the segment.... Build Quality is excellent.. Fit and finish impeccable. No other cars in the price range can't match with Polo in terms of Build Quality, Fit and Finish. Paint quality is top notch. But the Front bumper is too low as compared to other cars, Chance to get damage.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Absolutely this is not a small car when you see the quality of materials used excellent, for this price we cannot get this good quality car from any another manufacturers. The front seats are very good and ideal for long drives. The boot is enough to load some 2-3 days 4 persons trips.. Quite descent and very good build quality
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engines available in the car are not the best in the segment... when i test drive the diesel car the engine has large amount of clatter and its clearly audible inside.. Very bad... Even the petrol has Vibrations and noise but the noise is well insulated... thanks for the insulation. but the vibration is there in the dash and gear lever.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is awesome. It has very good handling. The car tackles all the potholes in the road. .What u can feel is that U are sitting in a class above car. As I drove the car in 170kmph. its so fun going on that speed and you feel inside that you are on 110 or 120kmph. Its easy to handle the car in the city. The steering is very light when it corners a bit hard. The car is good to handle the Indian roads.
Final Words The VW has a winner in its hands. VW is in the competitive market.. There are so many rivals for Polo. This car will create lots of memories. U can own this car for life time without any trouble. But you you should have the patience for the waiting period as you are going to get a good and better car.
Areas of improvement The Polo lacks in the Engine department and left out some essential features for the price, VW priced the Polo correctly(Diesel Polo is priced high not as good as SWIFT OR FIGO), VW should consider seriously to deliver the car as quick as possible otherwise people will go with some other cars as plenty of options are available.
Need to improve the engine (Add a cylinder and add 10 bhp for both the engines), Rear seat space (improve the wheelbase about 30mm), Correct the diesel car price(A bit high), Deliver the Car quickly, Adjust the Wiper, Change the spare tyre to 15inch for High line spec. And give some customization for every vehicle versions.

Exterior Noicy suspension, brakes, foging on external glass & no a/c or heater has resolved my problem. Even the company technicians could not help me in this regard. not able to drive the car when it rains.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Could hve been a little more better. Seat cover textile should be more better. Good boot space.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Need more power, totally disagree on fuel efficency as i am getting 12 kms in city & 14/15 on highway with a/c @ 100/120 kms speed. I have tried with no a/c @ 80 kms speed n the highway @ night with minimum traffic i have achieved 16/17 kms.
Ride Quality & Handling No fun compared to other deisel cars. Handling is good.
Final Words Would not suggest anybody to buy. I waited for 3 months for this car as it was a gift to ourself as 15th year wedding anniversary.
Areas of improvement Service technitians not traained properly, No space for an emergency visit to the service centre. Need to wait for 4-5 days.

BUY A VEHICLE FOR 6 L AND GO FOR STEREO ABS AND POWER WINDOW SEPERATELY AND THEFT ALARM IF YOU ADD ALL IT WILL COME TO ALMOST THIS COST BUT THE GERMANY MATERIALS AND TRUTHFUL SYSTEMS ARE WORTH TO BUY. I LIKE MY VW CAR GUYS MY CAR IS BEST . DONT WANT TO EVEN COMPARE WITH OTHERS. OK ALL CARS NOWADAYS GOOD BUT MY CAR IS BEST.

Exterior Took the delivery of the Red Chick a while ago Was looking stunning and road presence is awsome and the wheel caps look almost like alloys from a distance.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are fantastic and it has all in it what a owner looks for.Plastic quality is good ,dials on the speedometer looks beauty in the nights.But it take some time to adjust your seat to fit in to the right driving position ,the absence of dead pedel make your left leg take al the pain on long drives and the rear space is not that sufficient with a tall guy operating the steering.Boot is the best i have seen for a hatch back.Over all some cons needs to be ignored to get this beauty.Its tempts you to buy after looking at the exteriors.Take a cal before you buy.Try testing it twice.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I was surprised to know it is a 3 Pot engine.In city the rpm is gud for BTB traffic.When you want to rev through it is not that punchy due to the turbo lag as it kicks of only at 2100 RPM.The gear chnage is very swifter and smooth and handy too.16KMPL can be assured for sure.
Ride Quality & Handling The suspension takes all the hit from the pot holes and random roads The true handling can only be experienced when on a long drive.The steering control is very meaty and responsive.
Final Words Go for it .Ita a nice family car .Its more sensible and gets classy as it gets old.
