Tata Zest - The best in class

Exterior The exterior of the car looks dazzling, and beauitully elegant at the same time. The projector headlamps and the LED tail lights are a first in the segment and change the overall look and "class" of the car. It stands out in the crowd and I can assure you that this car will surely make heads turn on the road. Premium silver, white and Granite Gray are in my view the best looking colors on this car.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The interior is very spacious, and shoulder hugging seats only add to the comfort. The seats are also height adjustable. And the gray-beige color combination adds charm to the cabin. The cabin is noisefree and is also loaded with a vast array of intelligent features. Also, the stereo system by Harmann will provide you with one of the best sound experiences. The only con could be a lack of cup holders. 

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The 1.2 revotron engine is super powerful, and the pickup (And its noise!), esp in the 2nd gear is brilliant. I have driven this car many times on highways for very long distances, and the ride has been really smooth. The gearbox moves like feather touch and the same smoothness go for the break, clutch and the accelerator. The only con is the mileage. On the highway, after using the ECO mode, it comes up to 18 km/l which is good, but inside the city, it hardly goes above 11 km/l. However, I live in Indore which has horrible traffic. Even then, the mileage won't be too hight because the revotron engine adds almost 200kgs to the total weight of the car as compared to others. I cannot say about the mileage for the diesel variants.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality, as mentioned above, is ecellent and very smooth, both during long trips as well as inside the city. Due to high ground clearence, one simply does not feel the bumps even on streets filled with potholes. The turning radius is also not very much, and thus tough turns in the city can be handled with ease. The SRS airbags and ABS add to the safety. 

Final Words To conclude, the Tata Zest is a superb car, complete with good masculine looks as well as great performance. A true beauty with brains! I sincerely hope that Tata markets this car well, and its sales increase. I strongly suggest anyone who hopes to buy a car in the compact sedan segment to give this baby a chance.

Areas of improvement The only area of improvement I find is the fuel efficiency. Other not-so-important areas might be introducing a rear AC vent, and increasing the number of cup holders.
