I bought the Tata Manza Aura+ quadrajet in feb 2010 for my parents in India. The car was just a few months old in the market then. I did a little bit of research before I decided on this car.
I have a Honda accord and a peugeot in Ireland and I am writing this review based on the past experiences with many other cars I have travelled and driven in India as well as in Ireland. Firstly let me tell about one bad experience with this car which made me write a bad review about this car earlier. Initially when I bought this car, there was a problem with air conditioning and headlights and the car was in the garage for more than 4 days in just 2 months after delivery. When I had the ac problem initially, I was so annoyed that I wanted to sell this car immediately and tried the dezire, logan, Fiesta and even city - beleive me, the only car that I felt better was the new honda city. The delay to repair the car was that it was new and spares were not readily available. Since then the car has been great.
The styling is different, better looking than the older indigo sedan. I wish the car had alloys atleast in this model. It looks very good in certain colours. Interiors are not too bad. I agree there are slight gps in the dashboard but its not ugly looking. The car has good stereo and bluetooth system, I was able to listen to my ipod touch as well. The ac is good but it would have been great if there were rear ac vents. The seats are very comfortable and there is good leg room in front and back. There is a decent sized boot that it can accomodate 2 big suitcases and 2 small ones as well. There are 2 airags in front and abs so it is safe enough , but there is no cruise control but I know it will never be used even in highways. The car is average in power but it is better than the other cars that I tried ( we are not buying for a grand prix, are we?) I have travelled some long trips in this car in Tamilnadu and we were comfortable even with three in the back row. The price is good when you compare other top end models in this class. Here are a few reasons why I bought tata manza - in comparison to other brands.
1) swift dezire - even though the mileage and performance is not too bad in this as some claim, its pricey and the leg room is very less and not spacious enough.
2) mahindra logan- the boot space is big as some claim but the manza is not bad either, no passanger airbag in front, less power when compared to manza.
3) hyundai verna- little boot.
4) ford fiesta- expensive, less power, small boo.
5) honda new city- It drives well, leg room in the rear is not bad and ofcourse its a honda but its nearly 3lakhs more even though I liked it.
Places where the manza can be improved: Provision of rear ac vents and alloys, more air bags, ebd, traction control etc ( just kidding - you get only what you pay for) interior plastics, expand service stations.
Note: my dad says the car has been very comfortable in every journey and the 2 drivers who drive it say that the manza is very smooth and powerfull compared to the other cars they drive. I always wanted to own a car which is an Indian product and I am really happy with this car. I would definitely come back in a few months to give updates about my car.
value for money, more refined, different, Indian Brandaverage power, no rear ac vents, no alloys, no climate control
