I own Tata Indica V2 Lxi (BS-II) since March 2002. From very first day, I found that this car has very Powerful Steering, which helps to park car even in small gap, very nice pick-up & ability to remain stable even at high speed on highways. You won't believe but I have driven this car at 170-173 kmph with MRF ZVTS Radial Tyres on Mumbai-Pune Expressway & it was very stable at that speed. The car has many features like Rear Wiper, Key Remain-in-out/ Seat Belt Warning, Very good leg space in front & rear, which other cars in the same segment doesn't have. What I found unique in this car, is that of Horn Lock. When you switch off the battery, Horn doesn't work. It gets locked. That's not the case in other cars of any segment. It is indeed a powerful car in the given segment. That's the main reason for which I have kept this car even after 5.5 yrs.
Now let me tell you about other side of this car. The car require huge maintenance. Almost on every fortnight I take my car to Workshop for servicing. In last 5.5 yrs, I have replaced almost every spare part of my car. Coolent Leakage is one of the most serious problem of this car, which I am still facing. Tata Motor's after sales service is very poor. I have tried their each & every workshop in Mumbai & Navi Mumbai. Not a single workshop has well-trained Service Mechanics. Once you visit there, you have to visit again & again. There are few workshops un Mumbai & Thane, (including Tata's own service centre) where your car's new spare parts are replaced with old without your knowledge. Tata should conducta customer satisfaction audit at every workshop. As far as Mileage of Indica is Lxi (Petrol) is concerned, it gives a very poor mileage of 8 kmpl (with AC) in city. It is a fact that mileage depend upon various factors such as driving style, condition of the road, tyre pressure etc. But there is a need of improvement on this front.
Overall if you are looking for a very specious & powerful car in small car segment then I strongly recommend Indica V2 for three years of usage.

Exterior
I bought my Indica V2 Dicor DLG in March 2008 BS III and has driven it 15000 kms so far. I personally love the exterior of it. Lot of people have the image of Indica of being a Taxi car but if you see the car without having that image in mind then you might like it. Especially 2008 onwards models of Indica.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
I quite like the interior of it too. It very spacious as it can accommodate 5 peolple very comfortably. But I still think there is lot of scope of improvement as in TATA can make it more luxury and add some more features to it.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Its the loudest desiel engine with great fuel economy and a rough gearbox.
In City: 16kmpl with AC 18kmpl without AC. On Highway 20kmpl with AC 22 kmpl without AC.
Ride Quality & Handling
Ride Quality & Handling is good again except the noise coming from engine & sometimes gears not changing smoothly especially the reverse.
Final Words
Good car but needs some improvements. If Tata can reduce the noise of the engine and improve the gearbox quality and add some of features to make it more luxury it can really beat any car in its class as it already has a great fuel economy and it low on maintenance too.

Engine Noise, Gearbox & more luxury features can be added.
Servicing centers needs to do their job very seriously.

My father yacoob/68years bought tata indica v2 car on 7th september. The car was delivered at home at 9:30pm night though we asked to get it from showroom.the next day morning we found-rust in every part of the new car, wiper blades faulty, fuel gauge faulty, scratches at rear bumper,doors cannot be opened or shut properly altogether A FAULTY CAR FROM TATA BY CONCORDE.complained the matter to TATA and CONCORDE made us walk now still behind,the car,which went off in the midst of the road.SALES manager JAYALAKSMI complained back you made the engine faulty thats why its not running. A bullock cart would be far better than a tata car esp.indica v2 from this bitter experiences.
We complained to TATA motors and breakdown department there wasnt any much heed. The senior citizen who is a diabetic and hypertensive should suffer and hear the concorde personnals blames.
How can a man who was just in govt service know about a car which externally is ok but internally the worst hell.

Exterior good.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Really spacious . but the plastic parts like air blower brokes, glass winder handle makes noice.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Comparing to cost ok but engine makes too much noise with ac on after 3rd service insted of car getting smother it is making too much noise, pickup droped , when had word with service provider they says its common in tata vehical.
Ride Quality & Handling Very rough and hard shock absorbers , power stearing poor and hard.
Final Words I will suggest to buy a tata indica v2 but i will suggest dont drop ur car for third or last free service and if u give before giving u get it checked from good mechanic and give the list to service centre as they are list bothered for our vehicals.
Areas of improvement Still today tata is a no.1 disel car manufacturer [cost effective] if they improve there service backup they will remain on top of others .

I own indica dls bsiii. I purchased it on 26 jan 2011. I felt it as a very good car, but on 1st april 2011 only after 2 months thae engine started making knocking soung and I was getting no pickup also. On 1st repair it became normal but after two days the same thing started happenig againg. this time they have asked me to wait for 10 days. the defective electrical module costs 20000/-. although it will be replaced in warranty but the replaced module does not carry any seperate life time. what a fun. I have driven only 5000 km till now. most of the local mechanics and owner had the similar complain but no corrective measures have been taken yet. What I observed that internal wiring is not even properly secured. I feel cheated in this regard as I thought that I wont get any big defect atleast for two years.
Their claim about being a good mileage car is also not true I never got more than 15 kmpl.

Exterior The exterior of the car is very good and made with perfect design.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior the plastic quality not upto the mark, Space is very good compare to other cars, Seats are comfortable in rear and front.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The Engine is having less pickup during overtakes, fuel economy is very good, The gearbox response is good.
Ride Quality & Handling The riding quality and handling quality is good.
Final Words I have been purchasing indica since it has lauched (Indica DLE 1999) and (Indica DLS in 2008). At present my indica has completed 190000 kms. Still the engine is good and have not maintainance till today. Only regular service of oil, oil filter and diesel filter is done. Really, this car runs with less maintainance but people say that indica has more maintainance but practically I have no major maintainance since my purchase of the car.
Areas of improvement The interior plastic quality, Engine pickup.
