Took the car after 1st service on a 800km drive. The fuel efficiency came to about 12 kmpl petrol, tankful to tankful. Its the first highway run. It was a pleasant journey on NH7 but I faced some weird problems. Here's the good and the bad: GOOD -Went on NH7 and on several single track village roads in TN - both times the suspension really took everything in stride and gave comfort to the passengers both front and rear. It does not like to be cornered hard but at 100-110 it does not complain much. Seems stable but nothing like Swift stability. That car urges you to push it to 120 easy. Vista I could not push the car above 110 - more on this aspect below. -Huge space in the back for 3. Three people can sit in the back without touching each other - its like a room back there. Bags on the floor, boot full to the ceiling, the car was packed to capacity - and space was quite sufficient for 5 adults. Toe space below the front seats is good and rear seat passengers feet can go in there easily for stretching legs. -Rear/front passengers can keep elbows on the door arm rests to gaze out the window or ahead comfortably - some cars don't have good arm rests. -Night driving was a breeze with the double barrel headlamps, just set the headlamp leveler at lowest, switch on the high beam and it will not blind anyone but the intense double lamps brighten up the road clearly. -Cabin lights dim while entering/exiting - feels luxurious. -Mileage is low but only 1st service completed. Blended city/highway 30/70 came to about 12kmpl petrol. Quite low compared to advertised figures. BAD Now for the bad. -This is an open question to all Tata vehicle owners - does the outside smell/smoke come inside the cabin even when everything is shut tight and a/c set to recirculate? Because in this car all outside air smells were coming in, truck exhaust etc was clearly coming in through some hole/vent. Is this a common thing? Cos in any Maruti I have never experienced it. A/c is also underpowered and in the hot sun (30c) if the car is left closed a/c struggles to cool and takes 10-15 minutes. -Noise insulation thru firewall is poor. I can constantly hear the engine thru the firewall whenever the accelerator is pressed. It is ok if the stereo is on (which is quite a good 4 speaker cd/mp3 unit, by the way) but when silent it is apparent. Petrol sounds like diesel. What will diesel sound like?? Cabin is well insulated from outside traffic sounds, though. On par with Swift, maybe better. -Engine is extremely underpowered. Wagon Rs and Altos zipped by us and I was flooring the accelerator in 2nd gear on NH7 on upslopes. Could not overtake trucks going at 40 kmph easily. Many times had to downshift to 1st gear to get the car moving. Very disappointing. The car was fully loaded, a/c on 100%, with 5-6 bags luggage of 45kg. But the same situation in my Swift petrol it just flies at 120+ easily. I could not cross 110kmph in any situation, even downslopes, owing to truck traffic and extremely sluggish acceleration - not enough roadspace to reach speed which is sad. -Thigh support for drivers right leg is non-existent. My foot and entire right side was hurting in 2 hours. Its just bad design/ergonomics. The steering, driver seat position and accelerator/brake position are very mismatched and the only saving grace is the height adjustable seat, but driving more than 2 hours is very stressful. I don't understand what the problem is and wonder if anyone else faces the same situation. I tried all sorts of adjustments but the seat is just too short in the thigh and the right leg is hanging in mid-air, only foot resting on the accelerator. Maybe ok for short people (I'm 5-10) -Cannot see immediately ahead of the car and have to guess where the nose ends. -The remote boot opener and remote petrol tank lid opener suddenly failed. Luckily I had filled a full tank. This could have been a potentially bad situation. Don't know what caused it. -Right indicator stopped auto-switching off - have to manually switch it off always. Dealer said they will fix it. Overall its good value for money and has immense seating space, but weird quality problems are evident. I wanted to buy a Manza but am now wondering if these problems will carry over to that car then it will be very irritating. Any feedback would be very much appreciated from Vista/Manza owners.Space, comfort, suspensionWeird Tata problems - things failing/falling off/not working
