I have purchased the car 10 days back after comparing
1. Laura Ambiente
2. Octavia
3. Optra Magnum LT.
Although Optra Magnum impressed me with the pick-up and features, the service stations did not give a positive feedback. Bought the Laura because the Octavia was very dull and featureless from the inside.
Have had a troublefree 10 days of ownership.
I am impressed with the road presence and driveability of the vehicle.
The music system certainly is not upto the mark.
Good fuel economy, Solid build, Sufficeint spaceDull interiors, Less features on Ambiente version, Music system is very bad

Exterior Body line is very good, looks like a tuff car from front, and the ground cleareance is very good.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very good features like 12 way electronically adjustable driver seat, cooling compartment under front handrest and glove-box, tire pressure monitor,audio control on the steering wheel, it gives a feeling of a mercedes benz when you sit in it. Seats are a bit not comfortable they must have a good leather and a better cushion. whooa at the boot space - such big it is.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is too good, It can deliver what a 1900 cc engine can deliver with such a heavy body, fuel economy is not that good in the city it gives 9.6 - 11.2 and on highway it gives 16.5. Best transmission in its class, DSG the most modern gearbox by VW group, effort-less driving like any othe automatic gearbox(cvt) you just need to put on drive mode and it goes, very smooth gear shifts.
Ride Quality & Handling Handling is very good, it doest leave the road(curves) at any speed. But better if you go for upgraded tires, the steering wheel must have been improved like what they have build the new generation Laura.
Final Words Best in class I took drive of every car in this segment before taking this car, And I should say I did'nt do any mistake by taking this car.
Areas of improvement After sales need a major attention.

Exterior Smart sporty look, good finfish, paint quality good.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good features, less spacious in the back and rear seats are not at all comfortable, AC system a complete failure in all skoda laura and was confirmed by many users.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine life is very less @ 1.75 Lacs KM which is less compared to Toyota of such costly cars, Fly wheel most defective, Company will change in warranty but what after warranty as the repairs are too costly.
Ride Quality & Handling Excellent!
Final Words I will not suggeest to buy a skoda car as the company dont bother after selling the car and they have a tendency to just let the customer be satisfied till warranty. It has a third class dealership who never keeps the spare parts with it and for every part customer has to wait till it comes from skoda and in the meantime you end up with other faults. The parts are being sold at more than double the value in the market. NEVER BUY A SKODA CAR OTHERWISE YOU WILL FEEL CHEATED AND HARRASSED.

Exterior From out side car looks big and good. Ground clerance is too comfortable as per indian roads. Side mirrors are very small.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interor is not good at all, if you want to drive your own then its little bit okay but if you have a driver and rear sit is not comfortable and leg space is also very less.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Only thing which you can enjoy power at very high cost. Maintacne is very very expensive.
Ride Quality & Handling Handing is very expensive, cost of service is more than Diesel . No service in India. Even if you write a mail to Chairman or Skoda world wide service head problem will remain same. So you can think about their service.
Final Words Never buy skoda , I can assure you it will be a loss deal for you. better buy Honda/ toyota. most of your time will be waste taking service from Skoda. Spare parts also a big pain. Some time it takes 15-30 days. they will simply tell you no stock and parts are in transit.

I wanted to buy this car since long, had drooled over the looks & the onroad presence. So went in for a test drive.....
The road presence is amazing , great looks , great build . The test car had clocked 45000 Kms & still not a squeek from any corner. As long as we were within city limits -ie driving @ 40-50 kmph it was good.
On highway at high speeds : The acceleration was terrific & pushed us back in the seats. Applied breaks @ 150 for a clean halt with a straightline stop . So far so good.
Trouble started when I moved to the back seat. Suspension is too stiff & with our kind of roads it sure hurts the bottom.The incline of the back seat would surely give a soreback within 200 kms. Space was less than mid size hatches . AC was also not that great
There seems to be a design problem in the car- Try to open only 1 window & a boom is created within the car passenger space which hurts the ears.- It has to be tried to believe as even I was taken aback by this phenomenon.
Over all I realised - I wanted a car for myfamily would optimally drive @ 40-100 kmph. possibly have one window down. I would not sleep in the boot though the space allows me to.I would be driving it in India - with broken roads & sweltering heat. would love the driving but my family at the back would suffer due to the suspension. Will possibly save money on the great economy & diesel advantage but at the price of comfort for my family.
Verdict : Dropped the idea for this car . now on to honda Civic - the next review.

Exterior Is a personal choice, I agree. But I live the way the car looks. Also gives a very solid feel when opening and closing doors.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Great equipment - same costs 5 lacs higher in other brands. Comfortable within. AC needs getting used to - very different from what you are used to - no blast of air to the face!
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Great handling, good acceleration. Machine is great to handle. Fuel economy - give a mixed 14.5. 10 - 11 in the city a great 18 - 19 on the highway.
Ride Quality & Handling Superb handling. Great on truns - specially on sharp corners. In a way the smooth drive.
Final Words Love the machine.You will never Forget thr drive experience if you buy the vechile.
Areas of Improvements As per my Suggestion there are few things to improve that is the Horn sound and Frequently Horn Not working.

I am planning to buy a new car and how i wish skoda would do something about the way their service stations handle customers and cars alike. For me thats enough to switch to a Corolla diesel AT. I like the Laura AT and perhaps would have even stretched to a Superb Ambition but I dread the though of being at the mercy of the skoda service guys for the next 5 years!! And its not even the high cost of spares etc..its more the complacency of attitude and the air of "i am doing a favor to you by servicing your car" thats horrible.
Areas of improvement Appoint more dealers. Theres just one service center in gurgaon - and thats the reason why he is so damn complacent! i wonder why the company wont listen! i wonder too if anyone senior from skoda has ever visited their service centers. and if they have - its worse if this horrible mess is what they feel proud of!

Exterior Macho Looks and Presence on the road. On a lighter note the only bad part is that everyone is staring at You and Your Machine
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Excellent Interior with loads of features which are not even there in Merc C Class and BMW 3 ERIES.

Final Words A very Well Packed car from the Skoda Stable, a sheer luxury experience at the price of a Normal D Segment Car with lots of safety including atleast 8 airbags and a very high quality music system.
Areas of improvement Ride can be a bit softer but otherwise the car is of a very strong build and has ample of space and loads of features, so nothing much to improve except for the cost of Service and Spares.
