I would like to share my experience of buying Terrano from Shiv Nissan Pune.

I made decision to buy Terrano because I already had excellent experience with ‘Shivalik Nissan, Pune’ dealership while buying Nissan Micra. This is my second Nissan vehicle.

However, buying experience of Terrano has been rough ride for me.

Pre booking experience was annoying. I chased sales guys for at least 3-4 days. At least made 10 odd calls, finally got a call back. Very strange experience as if I was trying to sale them Credit Card or Insurance.

Car Delivery was frustrating experience than excitement for my family.

      1. When we reached for delivery (In fact we arrived 1 hour later than what was agreed) cleaning was still in Progress. When Car was finally delivered it was still in totally unacceptable condition.

      2. Grommet was missing from boot. When I brought it to notice, executive tried to convince me that it’s same for all new vehicle. I was speechless.

      3. Floor mat has either been removed or not fitted well. All the stapler pins are visible and big gaps between Mat and door bidding near rear left door.

      4. Left side door bidding not fitted well looks like worn out or used for long.

      5. Senior executives were not at all bothered and behaved like its normal and walked away from the place and did not show up again.

With all the above issues I feel cheated and got feeling of buying used car car which was manufactured 8-10 months back. (Refer sticker with Car trim in date. It’s March 2016).

      Other Issues-

      1. On one of the occasion I wanted to talk to GM but couldn’t reach him. I am surprised what’s big deal for GM to spare few seconds to hear his customers voice?

Overall my decision/ experience to buy Nissan Terrano from Shiv Nissan had been disaster.

I purchased a car Nissan Terrano 1.6 XL (Petrol) in April 2016. This car has been giving trouble from day 1. There are two major problems that I found with the car. The first is slow pick up, because of low RPM, which cannot be corrected since there is no accelerator cable in the new models. As a result, the car often stalls in low speed and heavy traffic, especially when going uphill on a flyover. The second is the “no start” condition i.e. the starter motor cranks but the engine does not start. This happened with me when the car was less than a year old and had done just about 2000 Km. It had to be towed to the service centre but they could not find the fault. Next day, it started on its own. A few months back, the car just stopped after 50 mtrs. Once again, it had to be taken to the service centre. It was found that the fuel pump was faulty. This was replaced after about a week. Then I discovered something interesting. This car cannot be taken to the hills. According to the Certificate of Registration, the car has a 1598 cc petrol engine, unladen weight of 1261 Kg and gross vehicle weight of 1755 Kg. Hence, the weight of load carried by the car including passengers, luggage, tools, accessories etc should not exceed 494 Kg. According to the Page 6.9 of Owner’s Manual, the engine output and climbing ability are reduced with altitude. It recommends that the maximum load should be reduced by 10% at an altitude of 1000 metres and an additional 10% for each 1000 metres thereafter. Since most popular hill stations in North India are at altitude of approx. 2000 metres, this will result in a weight reduction of 20% and the gross weight will be around 1404 Kg only. Since the unladen weight of the car is 1261 Kg, the load that can be carried including passengers, luggage and tools will be only 143 Kg. Obviously, it will be difficult to use the car in the hills if is fully loaded, with five passengers and luggage. This is a serious design defect in the car, which is being sold as an SUV. In the Army, I have driven the Nissan Jonga, which had a 6 cylinder engine of 3526 cc. I drove it three Himalayan Rallies -1982, 83 and 84 – and it could overtake any other car while going uphill. That is why the Army replaced the Willys Jeep, which had an engine half this size, with the Jonga in the mountains in 1965, when I had just been commissioned. How did they expect to run the Terrano, which is a bit heavier than the Jeep or Jonga, with a 1600 cc engine? In the last two years, my car has done just 7000 KM. Incidentally the mileage that I am getting is just about 7-8 Km per litre in the city. I have now filed a complaint in the Consumer Forum, asking the company to take back the car and refund the cost. I would recommend others to do the same. If you see the sales figures of the Car, it is now just about 40-50 cars in a month. Obviously, the car has some serious problems that Nissan needs to address.

After spending 17 lac we got a chunk of oldest technology & poorest vehicle in SUV shape. Ride quality is Poor. I think Maruti Alto has better Ride quality. Within 4-5 days vehicle needs to send for quality check. Automatic door closure not works. After 22 upgratation if vehicle comes at this level I am surprised what they are selling before. The vehicle does not compete with the other available models in this range. Also Nissan does not listen to its customers at all. They always refer to the dealer which does not have the solutions for your problem. Even they don’t have technical team to resolve your basic problems. We bought the vehicle in NCR area & within 4-5 days the vehicle is giving problem When called the dealer they connect me to Sales Team Head who does not have clue about technical problems.

Please dont waste you hard earned money on this vehicle.

NothingHigh Price, after 22 up-gradation vehicle still does not compete with any vehicle of its category,

This is an excellent vehicle. Has got a very dominating presence on road as compared to its competitors including creta. Huge boot space. Comfortable inside. Rear seats have lot of leg room. The car is with me for 5 years now. Driven 94000 kms. No problem faced in all these years other than normal depreciation. Would buy it again after 5 years of usage considering the current options in the market.

Everything is average only the problem is the resale value of this car. Over the performance is average. Pickup is also good. Lack of sunroof. The car is having enough boot space. Over I will give 3/5

Biggest mistake in my life regarding purchasing cars n bikes is puchasing Nissan terrano. As very bad experience with this car. I expect at least for initial 60 to 70 k kms I should not visit service station for any types of repairs accept routine servicing. But for terrano I visited almost 5 times in two years to repair things for my 2015 model.so u can understand the quality of parts used in terrano. Freind plz think 10 times before purchasing this car. It's a humble request. I m not telling u not to buy terrano but take proper feedbacks from people who have drive min 50 thousand kms.

Nissan Terrano XL (P) Wonderful car to drive. Both in the city and on highways including hills!! The engine is virtually noiseless and peppy.. Sturdy vehicle. The only drawback is fuel economy which Nissan /Renault should work upon.

We bought the vehicle from Neo Nissan & just within 3 days time vehcile giving problem & on complaint we need to visit the showroom. After that they confirmed that there is some problem & has rectified. But in 15 days time again said problem arise. Now again we need to go back to showroom for rectification. After spending 17 lac why we take such junk of iron on four wheels. I recommend don’t but Nissan Terrano at all. The Neo Nissan people does not have capacity to even explain the problems. Further they are unable to explain the navigation system & use of touch screen panel. Nissan people are least bothered about the problem they just forward the complaint to Dealer & dealers are helpless. No system in Nisssan Company & I think they should close their operations in India. They are just making fool of us by selling junk of iron called/advertised “Nissan Tarreno”.

NothingNo Customer Care, after 22 upgrade still under performance vehicle, Problem in driving
