- Only available with six-speed MT
- Tata Nexon range now has petrol, diesel, CNG, and EV
Launched in India
Earlier this month, Tata launched the Nexon CNG at a starting price of Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s available in multiple variants and only with a three-pedal powertrain setup. We have driven the car and you can check our video listed below. Additionally, we have conducted a real-world mileage test for the car and here are our findings.
Powertrain details
The engine offered with the Nexon CNG is Tata’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol mill. In standard guise, this engine produces 118bhp/170Nm and in CNG guise 98bhp/170Nm. A six-speed MT is standard, while the non-CNG-compliant engine can also be had with a seven-speed DCT. Sources in Tata have also indicated that the automaker is looking at an AMT option for the CNG mill but nothing is official right now.
Real-world mileage
In standard petrol guise, this engine with this gearbox offers a claimed mileage of 17.44kmpl. Officially, Tata has not revealed a mileage figure but we subjected the car to a real-world mileage test and we got 11.65km/kg in the city and 17.5km/kg out on the highway, giving us a combined average of 13km/kg.
