- Is a more affordable automatic in the range
- Customers benefit from more features
Skoda has launched the Kushaq Onyx edition automatic at Rs. 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. This variant boasts more features borrowed from the higher variants and here are the top five highlights.
LED lamps
Unlike the entry-level trims that get conventional headlamps, the Onyx edition sports LED headlamps with DRLs and cornering fog lamps.
Tecton wheel cover
The car doesn't ride on alloy wheels but steel rims with a Tecton wheel cover. It clearly differentiates this edition from the top-spec variants.
Onyx badging
There's no further differentiation outside apart from an Onyx badge on the rear door's window frame and an optional decal on the side. Inside, the door sill plates come with Onyx badging like that on the floor mats and cushions.
Automatic climate control with touch panel
Another USP of the Onyx edition is that it gets a touch panel for the automatic climate control unit. The lower variants miss this feature.
Features from the higher Ambition trim
Prospective buyers will also benefit from paddle shifters, hill hold control, and a rear wiper with a defogger. These are all features from the higher-spec Ambition variant.
Powertrain options for the Kushaq Onyx edition
First introduced last year, the Onyx edition was only offered with the 1.0-litre TSI engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. This petrol mill produces 114bhp and 178Nm of torque and continues to power the new variant. However, it is now available with a six-speed automatic gearbox as well.
