Hi All,
I did booking for a SX4 Zxi (non leather) in June in Mumbai ( with dealer - Vittesse). At that time I paid the booking amount of 50K. They told me that the rest of the amount need to be paid after the car reaches dealers godown and after I pay they will get the vehicle to Mumbai and get it registered.It will take 2-3 weeks after the payment to get delivery of the vehicle.I agreed to all these.
But today (16th of Aug)I was surprised to get a call from the dealer telling me that The car is despatched from Gurgaon and I have to pay as much as I can pay now. While I really don't mind paying in advance, I don't want to be taken for a ride by the dealer. Can anybody clarify, is this a usual practice by Maruti dealers?.

One superb car!! The SX4 ZXi is sure to capture anyone on the road. It's looks are simple fabulous. It makes you think twice if you would go for a D segment car. Its features are on par with many D segment cars like corolla, Benz etc. Its coolingi s fabulous and it gets cooled very fast even after being parked 1 hour in the hot sun. With its 102bhp @ 5500 rpm powerful M series engine, it simply overtakes anything. Even though Verna is faster, it looks very bad compared to any other sedan. Even though Honda City ZX does have ample features its iDSI engine 77bhp @ 3200rpm is very slow and it groans at high speeds something the SX4 is so better at. The tyres are tubeless in SX4 and ABS and EBD are available for safety at around 7 lacs which even the Honda cannot provide (only available at 9 lacs). Its ground clearance is the highest in A3 segment 190mm with which you can say bye bye to corporation dumps and potholes. The suspension is really good and the boot space is simply enormous (550 litres) you can stuff yourself in it!! It has powerful fog and head lamps and powered window ad rear view mirror. It also has an automatic climate cooling system which is not offered in other cars for the same price and it also has the anti theft iCATS system. It is one superb car and is worth buying compared to Honda, Hyundai and Fiesta. Also dont forget Maruti's after sales trust. Happy Riding!!!

I think its the best car in its class because many many features, just one thing bad in it as it gets a punch from city for the looks but don't forget only the looks nothing else....can BEAT the BEAST.... ,,, i had driven city its amaging to drive but some of my friends compliant about the viewing problems in the city area as u have to care about ur boot also and because of low ground clearence the bottom area get kissed by the high raged breakers too,,

Areas of improvement
i think its it has all things in tht price tag,,
but if want to beat car like city made more attractive, made it more rifine,basically improve ride quality.... and be at the top
great value for money,low maintanance,service and spare parts cost made it a ideal saloon....I personally don't like the shape of headlams it could have been better to give it astonishing looks

I bought an SX4 ZXi (non-leather) version as I did not want to pay the extra 40,000 since one could get similar quality outside at a lower price. The vehicle has been with me for 14 days now and I have done about 350 km. I haven't checked the mileage yet, hence will not comment on it. Neither will I compare it with other cars as I feel that's been down quite a bit. This review is only my personal experience of driving an SX4 and how I feel as an owner (because it does turn heads on the road)...I used to own a Toyota Corolla in Canada and have driven the new Honda Civic and Ford Escape (SUV) there, so have bit of experience about other cars.
Let me start the review with
1) Looks - This car looks great from whatever angle you see it, personally I prefer the front view and it really gets noticed on the road for this. I can't tell you how many stares I have got of the "oh what a great looking car" kind. The suttle angles in the frame, the headlights, tail lights, everything kind of moulds into the overall shape of the car, making it an awesome looking vehicle.
2) Features - Well, to each his own. I went for the ZXi primarily for its safety features (ABS and Airbags). Airbags are standard in any car in North America and should be here too. But, the so called other better known brand names feel that we Indians do not need them at this price. There are other goodies like climate control, driver seat height adjustment (which is neat because of the added visibility), great boot space, decent interiors, steering mounted stereo controls to name a few. I am into music, and hence a better stereo system could have been a killer.
3) Ride quality and comfort - Well, this takes the cake. As a driver, I feel great while driving on the busy Bangalore roads, where you feel that every other vehicle is going to hit you. The height of the vehicle gives it an edge over speed-breakers as well as unwanted obstacles. The suspensions are good too and takes the rough with the smooth pretty well. I have checked with my passengers in the vehicle and they feel very comfortable inside. Pick-up is great, a wee bit too much for city driving and the overall balance of the vehicle is great. The only problem I have faced is the gear box (first and reverse are a bit tight), but have been promised that this will be rectified by the dealer. The leg-space is great too, as I have pretty long legs and getting in and out of the driver's seat is a cakewalk.
Cons: Rear visibility is bad, have scraped my rear bumper while reversing, hence a reversing indicator is a must buy. Music system could have been better and the rear seat and armrest could have been made a bit more fifth passenger friendly.
Overall, my association with this vehicle has been great so far and am enjoying every moment of driving it. The dealer (Pratham Motors) have been good so far as well and have had no hassles dealing with them. I would recommend this car to anyone with an eye for style and safety. This one is miles ahead of the competition!!!

I had been a Maruti afficianado right from early days. I switched over from ALto to SX4 not even going in for any test drive. But to be frank its been a disappointment, I feel Maruti's feel of the customer is lost. I had been experiencing screeching sound in my SX4 though intermittemtly but it happens generally after I switch my car ow from an Idle state of 4-5 hours.
I have given my feedback to Maruti toll free number but no one contacted me till date. I remember the arly years when one call on a doubt, used to bring the Maruti engineers to your office to at least allay your doubts

SX4 has emerged as very good option of Extremely costly Honda CITY. SX4 looks big, is spacious, good MUL network. But a Rs.50 cost cut in 7 Lakhs car has made it very risky..!! NO Reverse gear lamp both sides on Huge tail lamp cluster. Only one side Reverse gear lamp, makes the car very risky, if a vehicle is parked behing SX4 and you get SX4 on road, the person coming from behind, may not know that you are Reversing (as only 1 Reverse gear lamp may be hidden by vehicle behind SX4). At times it can be very harming....to both SX4 and vehicle cruising from behind. Rs.50 cost cut...Shame..!! Similarly, only 1 rear fog lamp. Difficult to judge in fog & rain, its SX4 or a bike. It needs both Fog Lamps and Reverse gear lamps, both sides.
FIAT LINEA is more complete car.FIAT suffers due to past sins of Premier in buyers minds. LINEA1.4 Petrol is also excellent car, much better VFM than SX4. 95 Bhp 1.4 LINEA is over-looked due to "Moving Marvel" 86 Bhp 1.3 LINEA Diesel.
Spacious, Big looking, Better VFM than Honda CITYCheap Cost CUT makes car risky. LINEA much better VFMஎக்ஸ்டீரியர்/ஸ்டைல்ஸ்

A very good stylish car. Very heavy on Steering , which must improve, specially at speeds upto 60 km / hr. One does not obtain expected driving pleasure.
Interior design obstracts visibility whilst reversing.
Stereo sound qulity could be improved by putting additional speakers in the trunk.
Horn sound is not to my liking, as it is the Maruti conventional sound

It is car for middle class family who can afford. All the goodies and luxieries comes with spending reasonable money. Even if you drive more than 700 to 1500 km in day or two do not have that kind of fatiqueness you can dirve to office very next day asusal. My advise if you are intent to buy a car you can to go for SX4.
Secondly, my recoomendation to the Maruti if they can look forward for the HSD version with same power with some of the alteration like right side A frame and back side bumper design and good quaility plastics and latest technology to speak to loved one while driving that is mobile handfree technology which has blue & me in FIAT LINEA. rest, car is very good and i am using since oct 2007.
