Hi every body,
After driving the car in the city as well as on the highway, i have realized the following things:-
1. The car pulls you at any speed...Amaizing pick up.
2. A decent milge around 18-20kmpl
3. Comfy Seats, specially at the back, but a little leg room.
4. You might feel difficulty in backing up yhe car as the rear view mirror does'nt give enough details because the boot glass area is very less!!

Been dying to write my own review ever since I first read a review here. I have been saving up for my swift since the beginning of 2007. Picked it up on 19th November from Hissar - (CSD sales).
I had only read about the Swift diesel and the 99.9% positive reviews gave me the courage to buy one without actually test driving one! (As if buying a swift wasn't hard enough - getting a test drive is like asking a Rottweiler for his bone).
Anyway, for all of you planning to buy a SWIFT Diesel - GO RIGHT AHEAD! It's an amazing car! I had to drive it around 180 KMS from Hissar to Gurgaon and both my brother and I enjoyed the drive to the hilt.

Exterior
Although this design took a while for me to appreciate, one noticable thing is that this does not wear out...if you know what I mean...the design sinks in perfectly with the surroundings and ambience and still is a head turner!! The curvatures ensure you have the lest drag. Lighting is adequate but could be much better - Santro has amazing lighting abilities. The new reflector based tail lamp case is much better. Door grips feel pretty nice. ORVM are pretty nice but the internal rear view mirror is a let down - no night mode there.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Neat interiors. Well spaced seats ensure enough leg room. Seats feel comfortable and reassuring (with seat belts!!!) Controls are well placed but I felt the quality of the products could be much better. Dashboard is huge and vast and does not obstruct. Quality of plastics here too could be enhanced. Steering grip is good. The gear level is well placed. Rattling noise over bumpy surface can be experienced. Sound proofing is adequate but can be improved. Overall quite comfortable to drive. I drove a stretch of 480KM - with one stop for 20 Min to catch some grub - in 6 Hrs flat and yet did not feel any fatigue. Boot space not adequate.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Awesome performance. Very responsive engine. Gear shifting is slick and effortless. I could observe lack of power in 2nd gear. 3rd and 4th has abundant power to use (comes very handy in highway acrobatics!!) and overdrive was fun to cruise along between 120 and 140 KMPH. On a two way trip - each 480 KM, the car returned 13 KMPL and 15 KMPL respectively (13 KMPL - cause we were ripping this machine between 100 and 130 KMPH and did not allow it to return us any decent mileage. 15 KMPH - I was mostly over 110 but this time cruising). I am sure this would return better mileage at a consistant speed of 80. City - the car gave an impressive 13.5 KMPL. Guys, 13 for this vehicle is not bad - if you look at the performance.
Ride Quality & Handling
I crossed 150 KMPH on a beautiful stretch of road and yet the car was stable like an elephant. Not sure if there is anyother car in this segment with this performance. Yet to try Punto though!! You can feel absolutly no body roll - thanks to the design. Steering is very response and zipping at high speed was fun. Braking was adequate at lower speeds <100. However one should be cautious in highspeed brakings - this is where ABS comes handy (although I have not tried it) because it would not let the wheels lock and this avoids the skidding. Overall, very nice ride quality and handling.
Final Words
Some one looking for a reliable car - both safety and service wise - this is it. Many have a peculiar feeling of not wanting to go for Maruti vehicles just because they are so many in numbers - all crap. Whats a car good enough without a service backup?? Maruti is blessed with extensive and responsive service teams. We want to have the cake and eat it too.....we gotta change fellas....don't look at the mileage if you want power. If its mileage, there is Alto - always!!!
Areas of improvement
Interiors - Plastic quality of dashboard and controls. Rear seat could use better technology to stay put in its grooves (comes off it not aligned properly). Rear seating can be 40:60 split tyoe to accomodate more boot space. Rear view mirror can be similar to the one in Santro.

Exterior Very bold looks... need not write anything new as every body has seen and loved it... thats why you are here. However if a bit of chrome is added in front and back it will enhance the looks.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Has got the best front seats in its segment. Have heard about its crampling space but never felt it on own. The plastic is decent and there is enouigh space alll around to keep your things. Has a spacious boot.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The new K series 1.2 refined engine is really refined without any loss of power from its predecessor 1.3. Its a rev loving engine and gives an impressive fuel econoy of 16 kmpl on highways
Ride Quality & Handling Handling is best, steering is very responsive and with a 4.7 m turning radius its fun to drive. Ride quality has improved from previous models.
Final Words I would say go for it. Infact go for test drive and believe me you will not change your mind against it.
Areas of improvement Need to add airbags as standard feature.

Areas of improvement In-Built Music System & Low Fuel Indications will be much helpfull, Delivery Period should be really improved and aslo some attaractive offers to be promoted at the time of sales and more over delivery tracking system should be made to the buyers. As we should relay on the dealers even if they manuplate the cars for the premium price we will not come to know.
I suggest because of this car is a sporty look this vehicle could be tried with multi colors Like red & White, Red & Silver, Yellow & Black, Green & White Black & Silver and many more, And Further i suggest with Sun glass option for top end.

Got my Sunlight Copper Swift VXi delivered last Wednesday (01/12/2010) after booking it on 7th Oct. The waiting was painful though :(
Exterior The exterior look of the vehicle impressed me since my college days n now finally i own one. :) But one thing, they could have given body colored ORVM n door handles in the VXi model. But in general its ext designing really impressed my eyes... It has got a masculine look.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Nothing to complain about the space n comfort inside..The default dashboard doesnt look that attractive. Luckily MGA came up with a great looking Alpine music system that gave an integrated look. The silver-black colored player improved my dashboard's look to a great extent.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine is very responsive..its never feels out of power. Loved its pickup. M using normal unleaded petrol now. Calculated its fuel economy using the full tank-to-full tank method for my car's first 106kms. Got an impressive figure of 12.53KMPL, without AC. Hope it improves after one/two servicings.
Final Words I AM SATISFIED.

Ride Quality & Handling THE PICK IS VERY EXCELLENT, y I had proudly and happily written that I had purchased a Fiat Punto, it was a great experience for first few days only, and then the real problem started all the tyres started wearing and at 5500 Kms they were totally weared. Fiat changed the tyres twice once at the dealers work shop and after another 3500 Kms at FIAT plant at Pune. I was able to send the vehicle to Plant as I live in Pune what about the others? even after two tyre changes and three repairs the problem is still very much there, I am totaly upset with the way FIAT deals with its customers. Now I am regretting the decision that I opted for FIAT vehicle. Should had gone for a TRUSTED brand. Thats it FOLKs hope this will help you.

I ended up with Swift atlast!!! Lxi (used one).
I used Ford Ikon, Later Palio 1.2 And Now Swift. I would say Swift is a nice car that runs according to your driving. I wanted to check the mileage So I drove from Bangalore to Bangarapet. Exactly 80 KMS, from my office. I filled fuel for 600 Bucks (8.4 Ltrs Approx) I drove all the way home and back totalling up to 165 Kms, and still there a little bit fuel left. WOOOW...!!! thats somewhere close to 20 KMPL. I drove the same on an i10 and it gives me 22KMPL, But Hyndai i10 bloddy hate it...!!! looks very much girlish and old man types for me. :P
I should say I drove within 80 KMPH to 100 KMPH using minimal clutch and steady idling and swift exactly loves the way I drive. Very steady with 33 PSI on both the front and rear wheels.
I never got this fuel economy in palio, palio had an advantage - I used to drive 80 KMPH to 140 KMPH and it steady mileage on the high way was 16KMPL Inside city however I drive 10 to 11 KMPL, It never respected my driving, It just ran only so much however I drove.
Back to Swift Now. I drove to mysore to check the speed. Touched 160+ and the fuel economy was around 15KMPL. Thats nice deal.
The Paint work is not very great. Sometimes when the front door is banged hard, Gives a rattling noise, But handle it gently!!! I bought a used one which was 38K driven, the suspension seems to be perfectly fine! Loved it. I feel jealous when LDI's and VDI's rip past me and pay less on the fuel... But however this is perfectly a nice car till I upgrade to LDI or VDI.

I bought Swift VDi on 18 Feb 09 from Pathankot Vehicleads. The dealer treated us very well. I drove the car from Pathankot-Ambala-Chandigarh-Pathankot and covered around 600km. The car has given me about 20kmpl with three adults , 2 children and about 50kg of luggage. And mind you, the engine was brand new and it was driven at 90-115 kmph for most of the journey. 20kmpl before the first servicing is too good. After first servicing and completion of 2000 km, it is giving an average of 20-21 km.
I found the engine is very powerful and almost noiceless if you pull up the windows. There are no vibrations at all and the car is very stable. In fact you don't realise the speed if you don't see the speedometer. It has enough leg space for the rear and front passengers and seats are firm and comfortable.AC/Heater, powern steering , etc are very effective.
However, I found the rear windows a bit small. Hatchback glass is also quite small. I feel that Maruti could have designed it more aerodynamically as is Honda City. Also, the tinted glasses are practically non effective. They just don't stop any sunlight. I feel tinting of glasses in Swift is less effective as compared to old Zen or 800 AC models.
Overall it is a good family car that gives you a royal feeling when you sit in it.
