Best of the SUVs we have

I stay in USA, and use the cars whenever I visit India. Over the last 20 years I have owned and driven lot of cars - Maruthi 800, i10, beat, swift, baleno, s-cross must say this car is best of the lot.

I take into consideration - value for money, handling, fuel economy and handling

I would rank in the following order-

1. 2018 S-cross.

2. i10 petrol / Swift diesel.

3. baleno deisel.

4. m800.

5. beat diesel.

Here are my thoughts on s-cross 2018 deiesel 1.3

Top quality interiors, rich look, spacious glove box. (Rock solid build quality compared to brezza, mileage as claimed, 22-24 highway, 15-6 city), My only complain is they should have offerred 1.6 engine. With the smaller engine - you have shift gears constantly in stop go traffic only in city, but drive quality was good. No issues driving on Highways. I felt the older diesel Swift had the best gear box of all I have driven so far, never used to get stuck while shifting.

We made a big mistake when bought chevy beat - I suggest people to consider other than just paper adds / tv adds while buying cars. Reliability : Problems with German / American cars - They don't have enought delaerships and trained personnel, they don't know how to resolve small things like remote lock issues, I had to run many times (6-8 times) to chevy dealership when the remote lock, auto climate controls failed to work on our Chevy beat. They don't have accountability. Mileage claims : As per my ownership experience - Except maruthi (to an extent hyundai) I don't think other manufactures are claiming correct figures. I see in lots of reviews sufferring low mileage than claimed - especially Ford, Chevy, Mahindra, etc. I don't know if this falls under Metric authority of India. I waish they take remind some accountability to these manufactureres. My Swift / S-cross were the closest to give me mileage as adverstised. i10, beat were worst in terms of mileage claims. So people, don't invest ur hard earned money in bloody lemon cars. Internationally reputed brands doesn't mean they would be good in India unless they train their personnel correclty.
