Exterior
No comment on looks, this had a lower priority in my list however i like its distinctive look. The paint quality (non metallic) is just ok, its neither too bad nor too good. The body lacks the solid feels when compared with cars like punto or figo ,just a small twig fell from a tree made dents on my roof.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
The interior space is adequate for 5, rode with 6 average sized people without much complaints (i was driving 😉). The seats provide good underthigh support both in front and rear, I have been in other cars like punto, figo, beat & swift and all these cars lack this feature which is very essential for long distance travels. The driving position is better than most other cars in the segment. Easy ingress and outgress due to the tall boy design (swift sucks in this area). The boot is not that spaceous, could not carry more than 2 medium sized bags. Interior plastics has got acceptable quality , the odo-meter console is simple to read only with the exception that the time displayed on mid can be read only at straight steering position, tacho meter is in a rather useful position you dont have to look down to know the rpm.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Engine performance is one of the area where this car scores huge, this 1.3 ddis is simply phenomenal nothing to say more than this. If you are looking for a power packed engine with good gear box combination look no further than Ritz or Swift, we had been to ooty and in similar ghats with 5 people onboard and this thing just pulls effortlessly. This car has got one of the best gear box in business, the gear ratios are cleaverly chosen to get most out of the engine (unlike in the punto where I felt the 1st and 2nd ratios terrible to use), I felt the gear lever is positioned more ergnomical than in other cars of this segment. The gear shifts are short throw and is not as smooth as the other cars(punto, swift, figo & beat) one has to pluck the lever from one position and plant into another. It some times won't engage into reverse, don't worry just 1)put into neutral 2)legs on the break 3) engage and disengae the clutch once, now it will slot in, this has been pointed out by many people but i feel you have to just live with it. Till date i am gettin around 19 - 20kmpl and no complains in this area.
Ride Quality & Handling
Has got nice ride quality however not in the league of punto or i20. Get rid of the sock 165/80 R14 and upgrade to 180/70 R14 this will improve hadling. The steering is a bit hard in my vehicle and need to use both hands in tight turns (unlike in swift where you press against the sreering with one hand and just rotate) not sure whether it is like this only in my vehicle, haven't heard such complaints from any other Ritz owners (i don't mind a little bit of hardness and thought not to take it up service center since the mechanicals are all ok). The short turning radius makes it easy to park and in tight situations
Final Words
Excellent performance, great milege, good service and yet another Happy Customer 😎.
If you are
1) Looking for a VFM car with peace of mind service go for Ritz.
2) Looking for a VVFM (Very VFM 😉) go for Figo, but you have to compromise in the engine performance for some extra gadgets.
3) Travelling only in city limits go for Beat.
4) Rich enought for a B+ segment and passionate about cars rather than just going from A to B, you have Polo, i20, Punto, Swift...
