RITZ ZXi is a gem of a car

 

This is my first car and I bought it last year in November after reading reviews here. And boy, it has not disappointed me.

Exterior To be very frank, exteriors are not really conventional and used to look a bit odd. However, I read good reviews of it on carwale and went for it.  Exterior paint finish is superb and it gleams after a wash like a new penny.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) It's spacious inside and backseat too has enough space. 5 can fit in it very well. Steering mounted controls are a joy to operate while drivving. Tachometer lets you change gear optimally and saves fuel. It's very silent when windows are up. AC is also quiet powerful even in harshest sun of Mumbai. Company fitted audio deck is also quiet well designed. There is however no USB connector which is a little disappointing.

Door windows start vibrating after a while (especially when people bang close it often). However this is where Maruti's excellent service is just world apart from other companies. Got to service center and get it fixed without any cost. Regular free check up camps are also quiet reassuring. There are 3 free serivce after 1000, 5000 and 10000kms. They teflon coated the engine and painted the bottom portion for a small price. A polish job in the 3rd service made all the monsoon spots go away. It still looks very new!

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is super silent and super responsive. It's so silent that I ended up turning ignition twice when it was idling! (I know I know thats bad for an engine and ignition). I have pushed it to 140 once and 100 quite regularly. And flies man! I drove my friend's fiat punto once and believe me this is much much more powerful than that car. Heck I'd say it is even more powerful than verna in pickup and responsiveness.

I have been getting mileage in the range of 11-16. Without AC it does go to about 15 quiet regularly. This is mostly city driving with an occasional long highway drive. Gears are something that are not so good. I found gears in Hyndai verna much better. These are little too sticky and do not go to the intended gear without a little persuasion, especially the 5th gear. I exepcted it to go to 5th from 4th with a little touch but that does not happen.

Ride Quality & Handling Power steering is just perfect. So is braking. I have braked once quiet hard and ABS is quiet amazing. No issues here.

Final Words I'd recommend this car to anybody buying.

Areas of improvement Gears, USB in stereo, Door windows can be more stable.
