When I embarked on the quest for my new car, I found myself at a crossroads after extensive research. I sought a vehicle that balanced efficiency with performance. The XUV300 TGDI initially topped my list for its sheer performance prowess. However, fate took an unexpected turn. After a frustrating four-month wait for the XUV, with an imminent upgrade on the horizon, we resumed our search. One fateful day, we visited an Arena for the Brezza and a Nexa showroom for the XL6, and that's when the Grand Vitara unexpectedly stole the spotlight. With its expansive space, imposing 17-inch wheels, hybrid technology, start-stop button, automatic climate control, front and rear disk brakes, 60-40 split seats, and projector headlights, the Grand Vitara dazzled even in its base variant. Previously overlooked, the Brezza suddenly seemed cramped in comparison. I promptly booked the Grand Vitara that very day. The purchasing experience was excellent; we could choose our insurance and opted to customize basic accessories ourselves. Lucknow-bound with temporary registration in hand, I was ready to embrace this newfound adventure. Despite its formidable size, manoeuvring the Grand Vitara is as effortless as piloting a sedan. The steering offers precise control and commendable feedback, while the softer suspension minimizes body roll even at high speeds. The 100 PS engine proves more than capable on highways, maintaining a serene absence of vibrations even at 120 km/hr, though the engine's hum becomes perceptible. In city conditions, I achieve a fuel efficiency of 17 km/l with AC between 1000-1300 rpm, and an impressive 21 km/l even at higher rpms. The Grand Vitara unquestionably commands road presence, surpassing all others in its segment. Maintenance is straightforward, with spare parts proving more affordable compared to its peers. However, there are a few drawbacks. The TPMS and front sensor installation appear rather local, despite being fitted by Nexa. The additional screen's functions aren't seamlessly integrated with the main system. Front seats could offer better comfort, and rear seating might benefit from increased recline. In summary, the Grand Vitara has proven to be a revelation, blending robust capability with surprising finesse, making every journey an exhilarating experience.
