~ Bought a 1.6 top of the line LOGAN three months ago and have put on about 2500 kms so far.
~ Wanted a roomy, comfortable and an inexpensive car (in that order) and got it!
~ Driving in crowded streets
of Rajkot and Vallabh Vidya Nagar in a wide car like this can be trying but the routine and emergency handling is good both in city and on the highway.
~ Absence of remote control boot release is glaring! Also, the wiper and headlight controls are meant for left hand drive models and thus, require a little adjusting!
~ For the price, it is the best deal anywhere, anytime!
~ a happy Loganer/Loganite

I wrote the last review for Mahindra Logan in December 2007, and after 8 more months this is a refined and better one since now i have driven the car for almost 1 year.
In the past 4 months i had two very long getaways. One from Chandigarh to BandhavGarh National Park and back and another one from Chandigarh to Nainital and Back.
Its nothing to really talk about the Nainital drive because the roads are smooth and this car can afford to go on. But Specifically to BandhavGarh National Park (1200 Kms one side) was a something that i would like to share with you.
The Roads of Madhya Pradesh are famous for not being just roads but more of the dusty tracks or no roads. Between Panna and Bandhavgarh there is almost no road. I was on my Summer Holidays and outside temperature was somewhat 46-47 degrees. No Roads just pebbles, No water around. People you can't see in this scroching heat. Inside its 23 degrees. No bumps if you are driving nicely, no power loss even on elevated Satpura Mountains. I worked out on that road for almost 3 hours before reaching the destination. Fears definitely gripped in case if vehicle gets a jolt somewhere (went with family) but it didn't went off anywhere. You always don't see a sedan to perform like an SUV. The raw diesel power of the Renault Engine really shows what it can do. Suspensisons were absolutely great. Even driving this car for 12 hours at a streach (5 am to 5 pm) the car is still cooled in with AC giving the best of the performance.

If you really need to take out the best of this car just remember you have to drive it smoothly using its power, shortcuts will never let you do that. The only areas that i could feel it should come up with is its sturdyness on the bumpers. They are just showpieces. If you get a hit or hit something the bumpers just take the beating and losses its clipping.
Overall again the car has what it should be expected of so just bank on it and go ahead buying it.

I was planning to buy a diesel family car within budget of Rs.6-7 lacs from last 2 weeks. I thoroughly reserched on Swift Dzire, Ford Fusion, Scorpio, Innova( was totaly out of my budget although).
I left Dzire bcoz it will take 6-7 months time to get deliverd and Maruti Dealers were asking me for Rs.40-50,000 "ON" for immeditae (1 month's time), which I really didnt want to.
I also rejected Ford Fusion due to high spares costs & unavailability.
I also rejected Scorpio M2Di model because it was very horrible experience. It was like as I was driving a "Truck".
Logan was a car which I rejected when i started my "resarch" on buying my new car. When I went to Mahindra dealer for test driving Scorpio, I spontaneusly decided to test drive logan, though i didnt want this car.
But when I started driving, i found myself very comfortable in the car. The engine was very refined & noiseless. car was being able to initiate pick up even in 2-3 gear.All these were happening in AC ON on full speed. Boot space is huge & leg room is also acceptable. I didnt find gear & steering very hard.
I was told that it will fetch mileage abt 20 in city and 25 on highways.Thats too great.
Also, dealer's behaviour was also very helpful & supportive.
Overall its a very gud & attractive package comes under 6-7 lacs budget. Tata Indigo has a long way to even touch this Car.

Recently logan has been rated as the top quality car by JD Power (not remembering the full name) in midsize range. Also in a survey for "customer satifaction" it has got 92 points whereas the highest point was 93.
When I bought logan (petrol), these details were not known to me. After seeing a number of cars I was fascinated by its inside space and comfort it has created for users. After driving 750 km in city and highways, its fuel consumption is improving daily and it has gone from 9 odd to 13.5. It is likely to reach 15 after first service as per the dealer's assurance.
Look wise it is different from rest of the cars. Its height and width, both are little more than other cars. Suspension is good as I realised while driving on potholes. I can summarise like this- a lot of comfort in quite affordable prize for this size.

Exterior Solid body, musculer looks.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very spacious rear seat, can accomodate 4 adults easily. Comfortable seats, good leg space both front and back. Good boot (lugauge) space. Have facility to know average speed, fuel eficiency, kilometers that can be travelled with the remaining fuel with just a click.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Smooth engine, No problem during gear shifts, good powerful ac, FE(within city limits, with ac) - 16km/l, FE(within city limits, without ac) - 18km/l, FE(outside city limits, with ac) - 20.5km/l,FE(outside city limits, without ac)-23km/l to 24km/l. Since i drive 60% to 70% within town limits my average fuel economy per month comes arround 18km/l to 18.5km/l.
Ride Quality & Handling Good supension, less jerk inside during rough roads, good handling.
Final Words I have driven aprroximately 40,000km, and by grace of god have no problem with the car, spacious interior which allows 4 people to sit comfortablly in the rear seat, even better than swift desire. Excellent fuel efficiency and good pick-up at lower price makes it the best car in this segment. I recommend that if you want a car with good FE, spacious interiors, good pick-up, then close your eyes and book a logan today.
