My i20 ASTA 1.4 was bought in June 2010 (On-Road Rs. 7,98,000 then), and I had abused it like a volvo bus, and completed 70k kms just a day back. Perfect service records (about 8 services ) and happy with the car in all aspects. the most annoying issue till date , is the repeated steering rattling issue, even after fixing it many times, it reoccurs.
And the airbag failure light comes up frequently, which means in a collision, it wont deploy. Its a electrical problem, which Hyundai is trying to fix for many months now in my car. FE is 19 to 21 KMPL with sane driving, the lowest FE with terrible driving condition is not less than 15 KMPL. Can easily reach speeds upto 170 kmph with no worries, and once it did 190 kmph.
Overall reliability is top notch, maintenance is slightly on the higher side, resulting about Rs.6000 every paid service (every 10000 KMs service interval). Stock apollo tires lasted for about 45000 KMs, now running on Bridgestone B250. Other than couple of dents and scratches (my bad), the car is very reliable , and a good buy.

Hi All,
This is an real issue.
I bought i20Asta1.4 just three days back, and since then I am trying to understand the problem. As i am from the IT/Telecom service I understand the term USB/FAT/NTFS very well. but the issue is something else. I had five pend-drives nun of them was working. Then I just took the car to the nearest service outlet, they tried their pend-drive it was working, the service person replied me that your PC is virus infected that is why all these pendrives are not working. Although I couldn't digest the reply becoz my PC is protected. But still with some doubt I moved out of there. And just bought one new drive and asked my friend to transfer some Mp3 songs into it. But surprized that even that didn't work.
I tried with 2-16GB-HP, 2-8GB-HP, 1-4GB-SONY : nothing is working. Tried formatting them to all formats. The term USB is Universal Seriel Bus.
What I understand is something is wrong with the fermware of the player.

I have driven this (Sports 1.4 CRDI with 6 Gear) few thousand kms, Interiors are good, AC is very responsive. I dont understand why 6th Gear, you even cant't drive in 5th gear in city, Ground clearance is low and I found lag at shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. Interiors are good and its comfortable in inside as well. Rear View Camera is very nice feature.Steering is extremely light and gear box is good. On highways I got mileage of 22-23 with AC all time on.
Hyundai showroom people are good and responsive in timely manner.
Engine noise is negligible. Even at the speed of 120 Km (on highway to Amritsar ), the car performance/ride is very smooth due to excellent design by German engineers (Hyundai ) as Hyundai has very well taken care of center of gravity of the car.
Interriors are good & dashboard with two colors is remarkable with lot of features like temprature display, time lag , song display, music system control etc.
Undoubtly excellent car by Hyundai.
Overall its a good car bit overpriced but good things never comes cheap!!!

Exterior The car looks like a sedan from the front end, Amazing hood lines gives it a muscular feel, Turn indicators on ORVM'S gives that rich feel to car, Back of the car looks good with nicely placed lights..Over all its a category leader in Design.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The leg space, Head room is awesome as its the longest car in its segment, The interior looks rich and feels great. The leather wraped steering wheel and gear feels good to hold. Electronic OVRM's with heater is certainly a permium sedan category feature. Now I20 comes with reverse sensor and camera, wow!!! That feature is simply great to use, Praking in tight spots was never so easy for me. Bluetooth connectivity is another great feature, Electrocromic rear view mirror which doubles as display screen for reverse camera...Great!! Hats of to Hyundai. Lots more to say..but as of now, its just awesome!
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performce is good, Not so responsive at lower reps, you really need to work thoes gears to get the best out of that 1.2 kappa2 engine. With full A/C the car engine respond like its on 5th gear when you are actually on 2nd gear...it takes ages to respond to acceleration...Gosh!!
Fuel economy?? Dont even think of I20 if fuel economy is your priority, It will burn a hole is your pocket...But yes its still value for money for amount of features it offers at given price.
Gearbox is smooth and feels good to hold.
Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good, It handles indian road perfectly. The car handeling is good even at high speed ( I tried till 120kmph), Overall its a nice car to drive.
Final Words If you want class, Practicality and good praises I20 is car for you.

Exterior Day Time Running lights are amazing, gives a premium look to this hathback. Headlamps are excellently desinged with separate lamps for low beam & high beam, smoked lamps gives it more style than competitors. Rear parking camera with sensors is outstanding thing in this class. I like the exteriors more impressive than any other hatchback in the market.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Excellent interior colors & tone, bluetooth connectivity is awesome with clear sound, speakers sound output is very good, USB & ipod connectivity ports are nocely placed. Cooling glove box a very usefull feature for keeping drinks cool in hot summers of north india. Gear nob is perfect no other car has such a superb nob with such a soft gear box being a diesel & this I'm commiting as I've TD almost every hatchback before finalizing i20 CRDI sportz. Seating space is just excellent, boot space is largest than any other hatch.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is rocking, just hook the seat belts switch it on & this monster is ready to roar, pickup is just amazing. I've touched 160Kmph while on a longdrive trip & believe me the vehicle was simply stable no useless sounds from engine(thanks to 4 cylinder CRDI). I've driven my friends Dzire several times before buying i20 & after driving i20 you will surely feel "Why I've bought this Dzire". The quality of drive which you get in i20 is far far better than Maruti's Dzire or any other of it's model. On highway driving full tank to full tank the first mileage I got was 16Kmpl with 100% ac, obvioulsly my speed was touching always more than 100 at 80% of the route.
Ride Quality & Handling Riding a i20 is simply suberb, just TD a i20 CRDI you will feel the difference, what a quality vehicle with amazingly silent, powerfull & smooth engine. At sharp turns the vehicle is very stable thanks to it's long wheel base & electronic power steering. Only hatch with all four wheel equiped with "disc brakes" with ABS & EBD
Final Words If money is not an issue for a quality product, just go ahead with i20 simply no comparison.
Areas of improvement Well even in i20 sportz model there is no rear wiper while the it's lil sis i10 has..!! this is un justified. Also front passenger airbag should have been there as being a premium hatchback with such a highly priced the company should not think in cutting cost for safety of front passenger.

Exterior The exterior is sooo...oo appealing!! Its a treat for the eyes. The looks have improved considerably over the previous version, which itself was very pretty.
So, you can imagine. I own the white colour. It looks beautiful and elegant, though the i20 looks picture perfect in each available colour.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I own the base model Era and it has features I am satisfied with. A few people complain of some features missing in the car. But the fact is that we get what we pay for. If one wants other features, then those are available in Sportz and Asta models. Hyundai wont give those at throwaway prices. It is well justified.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Very much refined. It is always a pleasure to shift gears in the I20. The performance in the diesel version is considerably better than the petrol version.
It offers a good mileage, about 15- 16 km/l on busy outer ring road in Delhi. This mileage may be about 2-3 km lower than its so - called competitors, but is very well compensated by the premium luxury that none of its so - called competitors offers . We should consider all points before saying that mileage is not good. Shouldn't we??

Final Words It is my very first car, and i was never a hyundai die hard fan.. but now, I definitely am !!!
I had considered so many cars, it was a very tough choice to make, coz competition is too high. People feel that i20 is a little pricey for a Hatchback. But Boy, it is much more than a hatch back.
Swift, Ritz, Polo are gone days. They are CERTAINLY no match to the i20, even though they are almost as costly.
One has to own it to know all this. I have clocked complete 8200 kms today. Each time I get into the i20, i start loving it even more!!

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Pick up leaves much to be desired. My 13 yr old Santro has better pick up.
Ride Quality & Handling Good but shakes sideways on highway uneven road compared to Swift Dzire which is another car I use and which is much much smoother at high speeds 150-160 km/hr.
Areas of improvement
(1) AC system is the most useless part. Louvers design is obsolete. Even at extreme in positions you fail to get the air flow at drivers seat and which goes only touching your shoulders at the most. You do not get sufficient air pressure and neither the cooling. I have shown it to the service centre and they say it is working fine as per design (which obviously is poor). I have not recommended this car to any of my friends so far. Again I have to say but my 13 yr old Santro has better AC.
(2) Music sytem comes without a remote and USB socket both of which are a must nowadays.

Final Words Good deal if you are buying new one as suspension will work good and ready to bear the more expences on fuel.
Areas of improvement Hyundai should improve their Customer care service and redress of grievances, attitude of dealership people should be cross checked from the customer, if thinking to compete with Maruti in service. Dealership should be fine for the mistake as happened in my case. Dealership had damaged my vehicle in first service and refused to accept their mistake. I lodged complaint with HMIL. I was alloted complaint number but did not get single call from HMIL regarding repairs of my vehicle which was not expected from a good name like Hyundai.

Final Words
According to me, the car is not satisfactory except engine and body. Had problem with suspension, shok up and AC in below 5000 kms itself.
It costs me more and also wasted lots of my valuable time.
Though pick up drop offered by service centres, it hardly provided. My car gives only 10-12 kms in city and below 15 in long drive (of course i drive faster and its difficult to maintain the speed limit under 80!!). Undertand still bigger cars of other make gives more than 20 kms and based on this car's size and cost mileage should be more than 25 kms.

pick up and wear and tear (parts are too costly) and service centres are charging very high!!

Hyundai i20 is the best car in the segment. but still swift is bought because it has a lighter engine which has a brilliant pick up which is very much uncommon in diesel cars. diesel engines should be a little surpressed which makes it long lasting and compact. cars like swift finish within 3 or 4 years.
Now comparing betwwen i20 and swift. i20 is 70000 more expensive than swift but the features it has are uncountable. features which i20 has and swift does not are keyless start, keyless entry, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, driver armrest, digital speedometer, retractable ORVMS , 100 litres larger boot space, more powerful engine than swift, cooled glove box.
For getting such features if you have to pay 70000 is very less than its worth there is not even a single thing that this car is short of. a perfect package of engine with features and even more spacious than swift. then why swift.
