Exter was much needed product from Hyundai as it fits at sweet spot above the grand i10nios, it's high ground clearance make it more practical and the driving dynamics are good but compare to Maruti the engine some what lethargic to me. Fit and finish awesome at this price.
Diving Deeper into the Hyundai Exter :-
Buying Experience:
While Hyundai boasts a strong dealership network, the Exter being a new model might mean fewer on-hand options and potential waiting times. Research online reviews of your local dealership for a more accurate picture.
Driving Experience:
The 1.2L Kappa engine offers a smooth and silent ride, perfect for daily commutes. It pairs well with the optional automatic transmission for effortless city driving. However, if you plan frequent highway trips with passengers or cargo, consider test driving to see if the engine provides enough power for your needs.
Looks & Performance:
The Exter's design takes cues from its bigger sibling, the Creta, offering a butch and bold look. The high ground clearance adds to the SUV aesthetic and provides better maneuverability over uneven roads. Don't expect lightning-fast acceleration, but it should handle city speeds and highway cruising comfortably. The claimed fuel efficiency figures are impressive, making it an economical choice.
Servicing & Maintenance:
Hyundai has an extensive service network across India, so finding service centers shouldn't be a problem. Scheduled maintenance costs are expected to be in line with other cars in this segment. However, as the Exter is new, long-term reliability data might be limited.
Pros:
Feature-rich cabin: The Exter offers a surprisingly well-equipped interior for its price range, with features like a sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system, and connected car tech (on higher variants).
Safety focus: Hyundai prioritizes safety, and the Exter comes equipped with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, and other safety features across all variants.
Spacious cabin: The cabin offers ample legroom and headroom for five passengers, making it suitable for small families.
Cons:
Firm Seats: Some reviewers found the seats to be a bit on the firm side, especially for long journeys. Consider getting seat cushions for added comfort.
Limited Cargo Space: Compared to some rivals, the Exter's cargo space might be a bit on the smaller side. If cargo capacity is a priority, test it with your typical luggage.
Overall:
The Hyundai Exter is a strong contender in the compact SUV segment, offering a stylish design, a feature-rich interior, and good fuel efficiency at an attractive price point. While the engine might not be ideal for power-hungry drivers, it excels for everyday commutes and city driving. Test drive one to see if it fits your needs and preferences.
