I have bought the car 3 months back the 1.5 SMT manul. after driving most other cars. compared to others yes honda is over priced for a reason. if u owned a honda you would understand.its a silky smooth drive don't be fooled by most poorly maintained test drive cars an form u r opinon based on the same.i suggest you drive the new jazz to get a feel of the city
Mileage:
it gives a 10-11 in city.
Highway driving at 80km/hr --> 19-20 km/liter
Highway.at 100-120km/hr--> 16 to 18/liter
My only dislike in the car is the poor visibility i can't see the rear or the front bonnet which makes it difficult to drive in traffic even with sensors to reverse its the same or worse.
Power wise the car gives superb acceleration once u reach 5,000 rpm the engine wakes up.remember this car is 75% of a civic and would be a sec slower than it. refer to the Autocar september editon on the race track the city is jut 1 second slower than the civic on lap timing 2M18.15sec vs 2M 17.9sec on a civic driving on sriperumbudur race track driven by Narain Karthikeyan.you can keep up with a corolla and overtake easy from my experience.Gear shift so extremley precise and needs just a finger to slot into next gear
Else no complaints what so ever.the center is console designed in such a way that the OEM Audio headunit provided by honda cannot be replaced without changing the center console panel which costs 13,000 rs from honda(grey market non honda panels start at 7,000rs).for the average person yes the audio unit is good enough with usb mp3 playback.however if you are an audio nut or enthusuast well u would need to replace the console silver panel in case u want to add a subwoofer/pioneer headunit to the car. the Oem headunnit has no preout and is actually made by mitsubushi.
Quality of a/c knobs is poor but its not an issue cos it is not going to break or fall apart it is similar to the knobs u can find it the old 1 st Gen honda city which my parents still own the knobs are almost the same and work exactly as they did the day the car was bought 10 yrs back. but the new city has an rotary automatic climate control i think.the issue is more like the knobs could have been better for a car that cost almost 10 Lakhs.compared to an
Speakers cannot be fixed on the rear parcel tray only round speakers coaxial or Component 6.5 inch can be fixed on the four doors if u want to replace the stock honda speakers.
this reveiw is after i have bought and driven the car unlike most other job less people who trash the car after a test drive.of course compared to the linea any day any place honda. own one to understand that
Ground clearance is NOT an issue but not to the extent made out.only if the speed breaker is too high the car may scrape. in 3 months it has happeneed twice.but when the height was too much and i knew it would have happened. when i say scrape it hits the bottom of the bumper which doesn't damage the car in any way.remeber this isn't a civic which has far lower ground clearnce so this can't be an issue unless u r careless with the car. i drive in chennai & it has its fair share of potholes..you can get past most cases by turning the car left or right as you go over the hump
i have upgraded the tyres(Michelin primacy) as sooon as i got the car so maybe that helped.while u buy the car pls ask the exec to get you a car with michelin energy tyres as they are better than the mrf even higher value the sales exe will tell u they can't change the tyres it comes with the car just be firm.on returning an mrf 1,700rs pertyre michelin 2,500 rs per tyre on return. new michelin prmacy tyres cost 5,500 rs per tyre.if u want to change them after purchase..
i would recommend changing tyres as most magazines show this car has skinny tyres.
Update:
i'm 5.10 yes i can't see the bonnet neither the rear even with the height adjustment at max.even straining ur neck is of no use. it s an issue if u think it is else you may get used to it later.by so called getting an estimate of the positon of the bumper(honda exec sales talk u 'll be able to estimate and drive by onoe week BLAH). that may not always be accurate.i can't turn or reverse like i used to requires a little more time caution and estimation.maybe u 'd get used to it.personally i prefer my suv in heavy traffic.when there is light traffic i'd love to take the honda out.as a mechanic put it u need to get used to driving with 5 feet gap in front. try not to cut in change lanes as often as u can't see the bumper.or get whacked by an auto or 2 wheeler u feels like cutting in ur way seeing ur cute car lol.
SENSORS fixing a sensor with them well be carefull (i used a 6 sensors)when its fixed in font bumper if its fixed at the curve it will show the distance at the bumper corner not the distance between the car in front and your bumper.and if u can get a switch fixed to turn it off a stand alone switch which can be fixed near the right side of the steering wheel so u can turn the front sensor off convinently else its going to sqwak every time something stops with 1 feet of either side of the bumber corners. whch can get irrtitating. they will tell u there is a switch on the mirror display.be persistent and get a seperate switch
Delivery:was supposed to get my car at 5 pm the dealer conveneintly delayed the delivery stating accessories fittting etc sun control till 630pm. finally got the car after auspicous time passed. car was waxed and polished so and i could not make out scratches in the dark on the car that became visible later after few weeks the wax tends to go away with wiping..
