Hi folks!
Just two days back, I was fortunate enough to get behind the wheels of Fiat Grand Punto Multijet Emotion PK, thanks to a test drive arranged by M/s Lexus Motors of Kolkata at Haldia. This is no doubt a superb car. I am considering to buy one after disposing my old Esteem which has given me very good service for last seven yrs. This time I have decided to go for the diesel version since I seriously want to munch lot of miles in this car.
What I liked about the car are:
i. It feels really solidly built as compared to rattling tinshells made by Maruti.
ii. Excellent road grip.
iii. Overall feel good factor of the cabin along with the controls.
iv. One of the smoothest diesel power plants I have ever come across.
v. Decent cornering ability. It gives enough confidence to the devil inside me to hit the corners hard
vi. Excellent steering feel at all speeds. It feels great to hold.
vii. Unlike my old Esteem, road undulations are hardly transmitted through the steering wheel to the driver.
There are certain points I did not like:
i. The car feels sluggish at 50 Km/hr in 5th gear. For a decent pick-up you need to downshift to 3rd however the engine hardly complains about that it it looks eager to propel you faster beyond 2200 rpm
ii. Fit and finish of some plastic bits have scopes for improvement.
iii. Rear visibility is a problem and factory fitted parking sensors could have been a smart addition.
iv. I personally disliked the amber lighting of instruments and it became an eyesore over long night drives, Although I decided the buy the car after the test drive but now after getting the news of 90 BHP Punto launch, I have decided to wait for a trimmed down version of 90 BHP Punto, preferably in only Emotion trim or in Dynamic trim.

Exterior One of the best looking cars in the world. Very Sturdy body.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) In 90HP Punto Plastic Quality improved by FIAT India. Automatic Climate Control is chiller. On Board Computer is really helpful.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox No Word to describe this part of the car. I am getting 17-18kmpl in City & 20+ on Highway. Power delivery is excellent along with great pickup and mileage. Car does not require too much gear shifting in city as well as on highway.
Ride Quality & Handling You will love this car on cornering. Wider 195 profile tyres helps car a lot on this department. You will beat any other car in Ride Quality and Handling.
Final Words If you have bugdet of 7.5 lacs then go close your eyes and go for 90HP Punto. Its really worth, you will never realise that you are driving diesel carm Punto is dam smooth. :-)

Exterior RACE CAR .A very soild and robust built car. Excellent & very impressive looks. Wide tyres with alloy wheels.
Interior (Features, Space & ComforT SEDEN TYPE SPACE AND COMFORT , SAFE AND SECURE INSIDE,USB PORT ++ .Adequate Enough for an average Indian built 5 induviduals and with fairly large boot space of 280 litres.It feels really solidly built as compared to rattling tinshells made by Maruti.Tilt adjustable steering & height adjustable driving seat & a decent music system. Electrically adjustable side mirrors are very convenient to use.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Silent beast , good fuel economy, smooth as butter gear shift ,SILENT ENGINE AS A PETROL ENGINE IS VERY WELL REFINED AS OIL .Excellent steering feel at all speeds. It feels great to hold.
Ride Quality & Handling Ultra smooth ride ,with easy handling at 120km-130km without vibration ,DRIVING PLEASURE AT 110-130KM RIDE IS BETTER THAN POLO, FABIA, MANZA AND SHIFT DZIRE. Takes on rough roads and handling is execllent.
Final Words GO FOR POWERFUL BEAST IN HATCHBACK. COMFORT RIDE AS SEDAN QUALITY. SURELY A VALUE FOR MONEY, POWER PACKED DIESEL ENGINE DESIGN NEVER COMES AT THIS COST MILEAGE OVERALL 19KM/L FOR CITY DRIVE 17KM/L. LOW MAINTENCE COST, TEST DRIVE FIRST AND U WILL CHOOSE THE VEHICLE VERY SOON I WELL UPLOAD THE PICS OF MY BEAST IN TUSKEN WINE COLOUR. TRUELY ITALIAN TOY. fiat is no more the old modeled vehicle today it can compete with all its competetors. The features included in this car wrt safety, comfort, entertainment, etc are well advanced and are one step ahead of all the competetors. Also this car has come to India after receiving several accolades across the world.
I am highly satisfied with the car and I really feel proud that I own a Grande Punto. If you don't want to get lost in crowd and you are young and sporty at heart, Punto is right choice for you.

Exterior Good, Tuxon wine attracts dust.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Comfortable like any other hatch, not comfortable for 5 people. Blue and Me is excellent. My Car has some intersting feature. Its body is the most heaviest in its section, so feels safe.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox No review needed for FIAT Diesel engines, they are outstanding in performance. There is a torque lag but you will adjust to it with time. Awesome pick up. Fuel economy, it gave me just 11 km till the first 1000 km, but it has increased and reached 15 km after that(that is in City). Gear box is not great, has a bit vibration and the clutch also is not very oputstanding, its not smooth but mind you its a Diesel so dont compare it wil Petrol engine gear box.
Ride Quality & Handling 90 HP scores 10/10 in this department. The ride quality and handling it excellent. I have done most sharp edges at 120 KM with out any effort. It stay grounded
Final Words Excellent for people looking for power in Hatch back section and also the looks goes for a kill. I will not recommened it for middle age people who looks for comfort for the whole family. I 20 would be a good choice in that case.
Areas of improvement Improvments needed in gear box. Interiors should be more attractive and quality should be improved. USB port should be added in the Music player it self. GPS navigation should come as an option. The cup holders should be bigger and should be designed intelligently. The Linea style alloys wil look cool instead the current ones
Power and Torque. Looks. Ride comfort, Handling, Blue & MeInteriors could be more attractive, USB port practically useless for playing music, GPS navigation

Exterior Top class. it can be easily identified in a crowd. Also in my openion most of the vehicle either excel in the front or rear rarely both the ends. This is one vehicle which is attractive from all directions. The gap between panels are also flaw less.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior is top class as long you use for 2 adults and 2 kids. I dont think it is ment for 4 adults. otherwise in cabin noice, vibration is much better that any contemporary vehicle. Plastic quality is also good. But may be the thickness of the back seat can be reduced or the luggage space could have been less so that there is a bit more leg space at the rear. Over all it is love at first sight
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is the best in class no doubt the poise at 120+ speed is compared to no other in its class. However the gear box has scope for betterment. Also being a european car the pedals are bit up front compared to japnese or korean vehicles. However once adjusted there is no complaint. I am getting 12 in city and 17 to 19 in high road and mind you the avj speed for a 400 Kms journey will be avove 70 i think it is really good. Also I have driven the vehicle for 40000 Kms I have only floored it 3 or 4 times. Still today after 18 months of driving my Punto I continue to enjoy it.
Ride Quality & Handling Compared to my earlier swift and i20 (petrol) this one gives me more freedom while driving be it stability, breaking etc...
Final Words After 18 months & 40000 Kms I am still in love infact I am planning to buy a second vehicle so that the life of Punto can be extended.
Areas of improvement Missing: Cruse control, Back seat space (even the seat can be made much leaner to add some extra mm), Head light can be better. Also Fiat need to inprove their Brand name with better support.

Exterior Looks very appealing. Higher ground clearance (>175 mm) would have been better considering the Indian roads
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Poor plastic parts. Rear seating is cramped; likely to pose problems for tall people (6' & above). The high-tec features present in the car are not clearly known to the dealers for explanation.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Very good. The pick-up is very good, gear shifting is very smooth. The car handles well during slow speeds even at top gear thus eliminating the need for frequent gear shifting. This reduces the strain while driving in the city.
Ride Quality & Handling
Very good especially while driving on the ECR (East-Coast-Road) stretch from Chennai to Mamallapuram.
Final Words A good & ideal car for a family of 3-4 persons. Looking into the cramped space in the rear, long drives not adviseable. The car would serve well for city driving - from office to home and for short distance week-end picnics.
Areas of improvement Improved plastic interiors. Should include rear parking sensors as a standard feature, considering the fact that the reversing lights are virtually not visible.

Exterior Very Very good looking and I have purchased Tuscon Wine on 20th Jan 2011.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Comfortably can seat 5 medium size adults. Adequate Enough for an average Indian built 5 induviduals and with fairly large boot space of 280 litres.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Have driven only 640 kms, so far and the car feels great with both city and highway drive. It will zoom in highway once the RPM touches 1900. A clear power difference can be felt in comparision with swift VDI and I20 CRDI. However, in comparision to petrol driven cars it feels very heavy to start with. I am getting 16.5kms and the gear box is amazing and butter smooth.
Ride Quality & Handling Fantastic ride quality and feeling of well being sets in oneself, once the door is closed. This could be on account of good and strong body of the vehicle. Without doubt, the handling at high speed is great than the benchmark Swift and one can feel difference in ride quality of European cars with that of Japnese makes.
Final Words Good and excellent car. Unfortunatly, the sales is not upto the expectation it deserves. Probably due to poor dealership distribution net work and step motherly attitude adopted by TATA showroom staff. Fiat corporate should watch very carefully or else they will be decimated as non existing.
Areas of improvement Since, I was having Swift zxi earlier, I am finding little difficulty while taking sharp and narrow turnings. I believe this can be improved once I get used to the length of the vehicle purticularly up front.

Exterior Very very good looking having sharp looks and with strong metal body offering vibration free ride both in highway and city driving.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Very very smooth diesel engine offering 90 hp raw power and without any noise or vibration. In comparision to petrol cars one can feel heaviness and lathargy of the vehicle at low RPM. Once it touches 1900 RPm simply it leaps forward. Offers a decent fuel economy of 16.5 kms so far and the gear box is butter smooth.
Ride Quality & Handling Excellent ride quality and handling is superb in any type of roads and turnings. A remarkable difference in ride quality in comparision to Swift ZXI which I was having earlier. The ride quality is better than Swift, I 20.
Final Words Good family car adequate for average built 5 adults. A feeling of safe and secure is felt once the door locked and the car starts to move.
Areas of improvement The plastic quality of dash board could have been better.

Exterior In my view it little bit look like Aston Martin.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Fully loaded with features, AC is not bad as I heared.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Pickup is good after 3rd gear, 19+ is not bad with 100% AC and little bit city traffic, gear ratio is not bad.
Ride Quality & Handling 195mm tyres are give extra confidence for speed.
Final Words I got crazy after driving my friends 90HP model. I already have a Indica but after my first experience im seriously thinking to change it. You can't lost control at the speed of 150kmph it has a superb ride quality. But main thing is past experience of FIAT. you can't expect the fiat car value after 2 to 3 years as maruti cars. But its ok bcz built quality and safety features can save your life which is more important. and i think ill own it after 1 month.
Areas of improvement If fiat will support the customers then no one can beat the Punto.

Exterior Admiration guaranteed. Dropdead gorgeous. Whether you own any premium color or Red or White.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Blue & Me - a very well thought feature. Decent space for rear seat passengers. 2 Persons can seat comfortably. More than 2 not recommended for long drives. Driver seat / Steering height can be adjusted for better visibility and comfort. ACC really cools the interiors in minutes even when the sun burns right above its head. Spacious Boot and collapsible rear seats for more space. I was able to fit a washing machine and a Schwinn bicycle in it :). You can't dream of doing this in any available hatchbacks / sedans.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Good fuel economy (14.5 kmpl - City) and (18 Kmpl - Highway) definitely a good VFM, Amazingly crafted VGT engine. This engine has won innumerable awards all over the world. Im not an expert to comment about gear ratios in Punto. Although i was happy cos i didnt have to shift the gears quite frequently even in the city traffic.
Ride Quality & Handlin Amazingly stable and best handling amongst present hatchbacks in India.
Final Words Listen to your heart and drive home this powerplant.
Areas of improvement
1. A.S.S still continues to be a concern. FIAT guys you have a great product. A good A.S.S can do wonders for FIAT India / Global.
2. No cup holders in the doors.
3. Bland dashboard (the Punto EVO version presently in Europe has more stylish dashboard).
