This is my 2nd review on Spark, after a good enough use of Spark (Over 6800 kms.).
HOW I FEEL: The car is very good, in fact the best in the segment (better than Estilo, WagonR, Santro) in terms of looks and comfort. I have driven over 6800 kms. and I am very happy with my choice. As far as looks are concern Spark is the best in presently available cars (Looks: Purely Personal though!). It gives immense pleasure too while I drive the Spark. Even though it looks small, it has comfortable space for 4, and can fit 5 people without being too uncomfortable. For driver and and front seat, SPARK GIVES A FEEL OF CLASSY BIG CAR, Plastic quality is really very good and Its center mounted Speedometer looks great and usually found in high-end cars like NISSAN, Audi etc… Maruti is also using this center mounted speedometer in its upcoming car. So, if anyone will say that its uncomfortable, I will say No, Its Not!! It took only one day to get use to the speedometer and with this position everyone in the car can see on which speed car is running (Not very good for young boys.. mom can keep an eye on you.. how fast u r running boy!! lolz)
ENGINE: Spark has 1.0L engine which outputs 63bhp of power and 90 Nm of torque. Since SPARK's engine is well tested & successfully running everywhere in the world with different brands, It gives piece of mind. The engine is super silent & in idle position it produce Zero Vibration that is amazing to see. The car felt quite stable on high speed of over 130 kmph as I drove at that speed for sometime on Lucknow-Bareilly Highway. I feel at that speed SPARK is better than WAGON-R & SANTRO. SLOW SPEED... Well anyone can drive it on 3rd gear @20kmph only, No jerks, no noise... infact Even if you are driving it on 5th gear and reduce the speed to 20 kmph, car doesn't stop and u wont feel any kinda jerk. I tested it completely.
SUSPENSION: It has gas filled suspension, first in its class and I feel the difference between SPARK & WAGON-R & SANTRO (We've used both Santro & Wagon-r for quite a long time so I can compare them to Spark). In spak I feel that its suspension quality is much -much closer to big Cars, Sedans... Riding Quality???Riding quality surpasses Santro & Wagon-r. I haven't feeling any Sound while running on rough roads which I usually felt while I was driving wagon-r and also there is no vibration in Steering Wheel which anyone will felt in the steering wheel of Santro, though Santro is a bit zippy than Spark. But Suspension? Santro has a Very bad rear suspension.
MILEAGE: THE MOST FUEL EFFIECIENT CITY CAR!!!! thats what I can say, I am getting Minimum 15.55 now, (Before 1st service minimum mileage was 13.80kmpl) and Maximum 17.40 kmpl in Lucknow City (WITHOUT A.C. Coz its Winters). Depends on driving conditions but I would like to say THAT FROM WAGON-R & SANTRO I HAVEN'T GOT OVER 13kmpl A SINGLE TIME. So, as far as mileage is concern there is no comparision, I am getting over 15.5 all the time.
SPACE INSIDE: As I mentioned earlier it has very good space for 4 like santro and wagon-r but 5 can sit without being too uncomfortable. They have used inner space very well, small places here n there, for glasses, cigarette case, for bottles. The feel is there while driving Spark. Boot Space is small but I dont think it really matters most with city cars, almost same you will get in every car. I have bought LT (Top Model) and with Folding Seats option I carried luggage on rear seat too while we were only 3 on highway journey.
NEGATIVES: As far as my opinion is concern, I would say I got everything which one can expect from a small city car. Tubeless tyres and all and mainly the price which I paid, I am more than Satisfied with Spark.
The Paint of Front Door inner handle is not upto the mark coz its a bit off now, I made a complaint and they said come to service centre we will see and replace it, no problem sir, so I hope they will replace it.
Dealer Network is other issue with G.M. Since service network is limited it might be difficult for someone if he stuck in some village area. At this point Maruti wins all the way BUT I dont think one use City car often on highways. And I also heard that G.M is increasing its service network. Though G.M is having service centre in every known and famous city, so no problem for those who belongs to city which is having G.M. Service centre. Since I will use Spark very rarely for Highway Journey, this is not a problem for me.
SO, IN THE END I CAN SAY ITS A VERY GOOD CAR TO GO FOR, IF YOU DONT TRUST BLIENDLY ON MARUTI & HYUNDAI, JUST TAKE A TEST RIDE AND THEN TAKE YOUR DECISION, AM SURE ONCE YOU DRIVE THE CAR YOU WILL FEEL THE DIFFERENCE IF YOU HAVE DROVE SANTRO & WAGON-R EARLIER. IN ITS SEGMENT SPARK IS THE BEST CAR.

On Navarathri day i have booked the spark car. 2007
they are very good in terms of service offered by GM. I’m fed up seeing more old cars on road so I decided to go for newly faced car.. I know these are old wine in new bottle or new wine in an old bottle, I don't know which one is correct, but I love a change.
Comparing this car to all small cars in India it is better car…and they are giving us warranty upto 3yrs, that means how GM are confident about Quality in their product which is offered to the public or consumer !!!..
A small car that is refined and road-worthy for city driving is the phrase that best describes in heavy traffic jams!!! And pot holes!!.
Bought this vehicle in Nov 07 and still love the feel and drive of this car. I bought a LT model This is my second car and was chosen for the city (Bengaluru or Bangalore - synonymous for bad traffic and traffic jams!). I had decided this car after the test drive of Wagon R, Santro. Both the WR and Santro have a bad dashboard design that look outdated. WR looks old and boxed. Santro i-10 which is good. Bu t I prefer spark as engine is very very exuberant and yet lively!!!. Both the WR and Santro(old) have a bad dashboard design that look outdated. WR looks old and boxed. Santro is zippy, but the vibrations are felt in the steering wheel, has a bad rear suspension, also I care for the brand name and image...
The best I love about Spark is the good looks and decent yet distinct interiors. A very quiet and refined engine, A/C is good.
From this low-stress car – even after comparing with Santro’s engine (i-10). However, the engine pick-up speed is comparatively slower than the initial excitement it manages to infuse in drivers:
Zero to hundred comes at 15.93 seconds as the force is delivered with less of a vengeance as required, when full passenger capacity is reached and the AC is on, though overtaking may require a switch into lower gear for smoother performance, but strictly I’ll warn you. On highway it can meet any middle segment cars, but this is small car to be small you c it, I’m right?
At highway speeds and is less prone to suffering adversely when faced with cross-winds, so enviable ride-quality for hatchbacks is guaranteed for all passengers in the Spark. Quiet and efficient suspension, Apollo tubeless tires grant noiseless driving pleasure while a light power steering and compact size enable fuel-efficiency of 13-15Kmpl and 17-19Kmpl for city and highway driving, respectively.
I met accident and recovered through Reliance Insurance. The amount is around Rs. 40,000. At that time it was clocked around 200 Km only!
My one and only dislike about this vehicle is the low drumming noise that is produced on rough roads at high speed!! Ha ha ho ho He he he he ….but I love it he he he…
Due u know after repairing at service center spark covered about 6600KMs in and out city and highways and without any hiss!!! It is truly great!!! my man.
Even if you are driving in fifth gear and reduce the speed till 20 kmph, car doesnt stop!!! that. You silly that engine knock will not heard!!!.
Overall it is very good vehicle if you are not the typecast Tom Dick Harry.
These have Electronic Sequential Fuel Injection because of which you need not the gears frequently, further if you remove your legs from the accelerator, it won’t knock & stop but would continue rolling (which normally is not with other cars of the same category)
A car that not only won our hearts but accolades aplenty; however the Spark promises more when u drives it more!!!!!!! And it’s a powerful beast need to be tamed.
If u want best category in small car then go for SPARK!!!

I had purchased my cute Chevy LPG LS last month and since then I am a very happy owner of the car. The onroad price is 3.62 lakh (discount of 37,000 and 45,000 maintenance) in Noida. I have already drove 1000kms without a single complain. It's of Topaz color with silver roof rails.
The interior is really exclusive, gives the feeling of being seated in a luxury car. The gear system is smooth and moreover the suspension system is superb even on very bumpy roads. Friends, the balance of the car is excellent and the cockpit is well placed.
The LPG tank is of 26.2 ltr and I could able to fill 26.13ltr without pressing the system. The technology used is of latest US based one and in case of any mishaps all the vulves get closed automatically preventing any accident. You would be amazed to see that the changing of fuel types is soo smooth that u even can't tell on which mode the car is moving.
It's equiped with child safety lock and fire extinguisher. The Chevy is really very spacious having good leg space ( i feel sufficient for average height Indians). I am 5'10" and very comfortable.
The fisrt time I started the car..I was not sure if it is started. Too smooth and sound of engine is minimal. I have used the car mostly with AC on due to the harsh continental climate of Delhi and never found it underpowered.
The cooling system is superb and plenty of features added to the car like, bottle holder, card holder, bag hooks, lighter, cup holder etc.
In the fisrt month I have got a mileage of 14km/ltr with AC in city drive on LPG version ( LPG is Rs. 26.7 /ltr in Delhi).
The only constraint I found is that the boot space becomes a little less due to the LPG tank though the stepny is mounted at the back of the seat. It does not create any problem in short drive and during long drive I put the stepny on floor and relax. One may also like to fold the rear seat and even sleep comfortably during journey (small family).
I never bothered to spend few bucks to decorate the car with Roof rails and rear spoiler and the look became deadly. People are crazy with the modified look.
I don't want to compare the model with any other brand of this segment( though I drove most of them). Rather, I would suggest you to have test drive and compare yourself.
In short, I love my Chevy and would like to recommend it for others.

Recently I have driven through the mighty hills of Himalayas and the performance of Chevy spark is superb. It is really helpful to have low curb weight. It's very stable on zig-zag roads and turning at higher speed is smooth and comfortable. Ok, the mileage part - I driven the vehicle on petrol most of the time except the flat areas with LPG. The car was mostly on 2nd and 3rd gear and I got about 10-12km average with (AC switched off). I found the vehicle very easy to park off the narrow hilly road when many others were searching for suitable parking. It's very balanced at high speed.

Last time when I drove the car through Delhi-Dehradun highway (270kms), it was comfortable even on bumpy roads. I really like the suspension of spark. i got an average of about 17.5kms/ltr on LPG (ac off).
** If you can manage may look forward to have 'Teflon Coating' on ur vehicle. A cycle traveller scratches the left back door while travelling through the narrow Dehradun roads, that could have been avoided if I had teflon coatings. Let's see when may it be possible to remove the patch as it would cost about Rs.3000.

5th November 2009, I brought home the blazing red Spark LS. I like it very much. I chose spark because it fit in my budget and the 3 years cashless ownership was also attractive to me. The LS model does not come with Central Locking and rear power windows. So I got the Central Locking with Immobilizer installed from the dealer. I also got the boot tray installed seperately. Although the back seats are quite comfortable, I like the front seats as they are far more comfortable. The car looks small from outside but it utilizes space inside very well. 3 well bodied people can sit pretty well in the back seat. The interesting thing is that even when the driver seat is shifted completely to the back (in my case ofcourse :)), the rear passanger does not have to compromise on his space. Now the engineering: The power stearing is very very smooth and responsive. The gear box is also handy enough. Although the 1st gear seems a bit tighter for me. I consulted some people as well as the dealer and all of them agreed on "wait till 1st service and let the car loosen up". I hope that is correct. :) The engine is powerful enough. Caution: The engine is very very silent, and I mean it. It already happened 2 times with me that I kept on turning the engine on when it was already on (so a chocking sound results). Even sitting inside, you might not feel that the engine is running if the AC is off. The brakes are smooth, they don't stop you all of a sudden for touching the peddal. The indicator-wiper convension is reverse to most cars. i.e., indicator and head light on your left and wiper on your right (in spark). Music: It came with a GM provided music system (value added) with two front speakers and remote. Not a great brand. The head set is of Nippon. I am not that freaky about car music, so its sound quality is good enough for me. I am planning to get a JVL pair of back speakers installed. Interior and comfort: The plastic quality is good enough. The seats are cozy. Enough head space even for tall people. The Dash board is a bit elevated than most cars. So that gives you a big car feeling. AC is not very aggressive. A bit noisy also, if the blower is kept very high. I'd recomment keeping the blower to low. It takes a little time to make the interior cool enough. Mileage: I've not travelled much right now as I am not licensed yet(:)); not taken the test yet. It is giving an average of 12 KMPL in City(Kolkata) with AC on. I used the tank to tank way of measuring the mileage(or kilomiterage). This is pretty much about it. Let me know if you have any query and I will revert back. I did not write anything about the price and hypothication etc. as I don't know if that is allowed in Carwale.

Dear Readers.
No doubt spark is wonderful vehicle but I am one of those unlucky ones who have been cheated by a GM deal named "Triumph Motors" They had sold me an accidental and used car. So kindly dont go to this dealer for buying ur car or getting ur car serviced. Because they are cheaters and will sell you used or accidental vehicles that too not fully repaired under GM standards. And can cause u big trouble some day.
I bought this LS variant on April 10. I have done 5600kms in the last 6 months. Last week I was going at a speed of 10kmps when I got a sudden noise and my car got stoppen. I opened up my engine and found that the engine mounting had broken and the car's engine from left side had fallen down. The car was not in a position to move even an inch.
We had to call a recovery van from Chevrolet who took 10 hrs to send our car to their workshop.
The workshop people had shown us the duplicate and local screws used in the cay by Triumph Motors which caused us this big problem. My repair will is 25000. and Triumph motors are not yet admitting thier fault.
So I would recomend do not buy ur car from Triumph motors.

Like everyone who is going to buy a car especially first car will do a lot of R&D regarding the same me too was not an exception. I had done a lot of search in team bhp, carwale and of course mouthshut.
Let me tell you some history regarding my experience and the reason the i zeroed in on spark.
My search for a gud car started almost 6 months back and my budget was initially 3.5L and i have almost finalised on Indica Vista last month good car,gud featuers nad really nice to drive .Then i went to chevy showrom Geeyem Motors and test drove chevy spark and U-VA .(by the time i increased by budget to 4-4.3L).
I am really surprised with the performance of spark really nice car and fun to drive. Before test driving spark i was thinking that its a erally small car with cramped interiors believ me guys its not short on space or power too.Far better than A-star in rear seat which was also in my list.Showrrom guys told spark will give 18Km/L .It have gas filled shocks which is not available in any car in this price tag .Good safety features(alloys,ABS& Airbag with option pack)
i idnt like u-va for its performance i hate the luks(personal opinion). My mind was fully towards indica vista but my bro who lives outside India want a car with safety features so Indica Vista Out of my choice .I had options like Wagon_R,Estilo,A-star & Spark of which i loved spark(only cars with ABS& Airbag in that price range)moreover chevy had woping 40K discount ,i have got more than 50K discount (chevy discount,exchange offer,dealer discount) and 3year/45000Km free maintenace.
My suggestion is who all are plannin got buy a car in 3-4L range please test drive spark and Indica Vista too (if want more space).

3)Have all safety features like ABS& Airbag(driver side only) with option pack

1)Spark is short of boot space but enough for 2-4 bags(not suitcase).

SOME TOUGH TIME IN SHOWROOM AS I NEED TO WAIT TILL6.30PM FROM 11 AM TO GET MY CAR.
I went to showroom on 25th evening to took my delivery and they were ready for that after
that only i ordered for accesories .Bought sony xplod music system with 4 small
sperakers,seat covers,wood finish for dash & sun film, costed me Rs.22,500. I got floor mat
and steering grip as promised by my executive KIRAN and i sincerely thank KIRAN (Geeyem
Motors cochin)for delivering car in proper time. On that day evening i saw a small dent in
the back side (door) and KIRAN immediatly called the guys and replcaed the entire part.
On 26th i got the delivery on 6.30pm my father,mother and myself were present there.
Today 17/9/09 clocked 1300KMs in ODO.
Went to palani and car performed well ..got mileage around 16KMPL with 50% AC and i was very carfeul to
drive below 80KMPH and mostly on 60.
We were 5 people on the trip and felt power a little on lower side with AC on.
Braking is good with ABS.
Never felt tried during the entire trip and myself on driver seat for the entire 700KMs..
I request you all to please comment on the alloys i have got .DO i need to change those?
They are original equipment from chevrolet and the dealer insisted me not to replace that.
I had issue with my headlamp not focussing properly and they rectified the issue with a
great customer care. they want me to be there and directly heard the complaint from me
adjusted the headlamp and checked in my presence..Joby was the guy to whom i talked first
rearding the complaint,obvious after talking to kiran. He took me to the responsible guy for
those complaints (sorry,i forgot his name). So far I am very satisfied with the customer
care of GeeYem motors cochin.Later i came to know that Joby was the star of month August.I
am sure those selectors have a tough task in finding the star as all are superb i felt.
We have a Swift VXi and when i compare with i felt the car a little under powered and low on
space.But felt higher on riding comfort.
I had a very bad occasion when my flash of headlight stopped working and it got ok within
seconds.
Overall i am very much satisfied with the performance.

Completed Reassurance Checkup two days back
Not much difference to notice after that they washed my car that the only difference i felt.
Went to Kanyakumari ..
trip was gud ...touched 100 mark several times and car was rock solid .
got mileage of around 16 with 10-20% AC .
On the way i went to triparapu and i felt the ground clearance and Shocks are very gud .
Never felt under powered on those bad roads.
Never felt tried and want to drive more and more that the pleasure I am getting everytime from this machine.

I bought this car during feb 2009.our family's first car indeed.so far driven 3500kms both city drive&highway drive.
but i have driven earlier maruthi 800&santro both belong to friends. I notice a uniq difference in chevvy spark design...
# drooping V cut bonnet- safety for occupants during crash!
# mouth-shut air -dam-I hate mouth opening air dam design of others
#eye shaped head lamps-i hate fish-eye headlamps of others
#long-cut on the side of the car doors gives extra safety for passengers
#football shaped tail lamps- it adds glamour to spark(you can distinguish your lovely spark 150 mts distance during night hours!!)
#GM designers made excellent home work on cars exterior!!.
#The front cabin passenger windows are big shaped(in fact twin windows,one is fixed,one is rollable)-you cant see this in any other small car segment...now only maruthi estilo have modified/ copied the design.The big window give good view for drivers at bends/traffic.
#comming to the interior,it is good.bottle/map holders on both front doors.two cup holders on front,bottle holders on back,coin holders,card holders,small tray for cell phones for both front passengers..etc..you cant find in other small cars in this price segment.
#regarding the drive it is excellent!!.

your right hand can just hold steering during drive.
on the right hand side there is just wiper contols!-
other cars have right for indicators,left for lighting---you have to switch hands during driving..but in spark you need not worry...you just hold steering on yur right,yu can use your left hand for all controls. I like the feature.
Ask any santro owners, how they feel about pedal positon for accelerator.They might say paining...but in spark all are well placed.good for long drive...

I've been using this car for the past 9 years (40000 kms) and Chevrolet had stopped its production as of now. I'm 5 feet 11'inches tall and I'm sharing my experience based on my observation.
Its a petrol vehicle under 1000cc category and produces a peak power of 64 bhp, topping its speed at 140kmph. PROS: Lesser cost of maintenance.Good mileage of approximately 20 kmpl on highways. Good pickup on uphills as well. Good traction on roads. Reliable engine. ORVMs are truly good. AC cooling is excellent. An ideal car for beginners. CONS: Could have added much more cabin space.
Less airy for the persons sitting in the front. Boot space is comparatively lesser. Gear ratio could have been improved. Not a comfortable car for tall persons. It lacks its resale value since its production is stopped by its company. As a car under 3 lacks,Chevrolet have done a good job then (2008), but they lost the competition as technologies advanced and great companies like TATA started producing budget cars with better features than any other companies could offer in India.
In my opinion, beginners and second hand buyers could choose this particular car since it is a good choice for them under cheap rates.

I drove this car from Ahmedabad (where I used to live earlier) to Mt Abu and back. It was a friend's car, and he had bought it just the previous month. There were 4 people inside (including him) and some luggage. The car drove beautifully through the night, averaging 90-100 kmph comfortably on Gujarat highways.
Firstly, the composure of the car at high speeds was much better than a Santro or Wagon R. I have driven both these cars on the highway and found them to be slightly unstable.
Secondly, though the car looks much smaller from outside, it manages to package space very well. I'm 6'2", and on both Santro/Wagon R my legs tend to hit the side of the centre console while driving. No such problems with the car. Even after a 230 km journey (consisting of good highways in Gujarat, horrible highways in Rajashtan and the last 30 kms hill road) I was comfortable and felt like driving more. None of the 4 people on board complained of being uncomfortable at any time.
Thirdly, performance is adequate for a small car. Only above 110 kmph the engine felt buzzy, and the composure at high speeds comes as a surprise.
It averaged about 18 kmpl over the trip. In the city, I'm sure the spark would manage about 13-14 kmpl.
The spark also comes in a variety of eye-catching colours. Although a personal opinion, but I think the design is much more sorted and cheeky than other A-segment cars.
From the friend who owns it, I have come to know that the service standards are good and spares are reasonable.
Overall, the best VFM proposition in the A-segment.
