Well to start, this is one car which stands out on the raod thanks to its unique styling both from inside and outside. The headlamps of the car renders it a very unique signature and this was reinforced by the winky winky spark ad by GM. From the rear also the styling of Spark again makes it stand out albiet in a good way.
Inside, the spark again brought in a first in this segment (atleast i think so) with its centrally located instrument console. Well, not that I am too happy about it because now you will have more backseat drivers commenting about the speed at which you are driving. And yes, the spark is quite a bit spacious contrary to what you may end up thinking from its exterior dimensions.
Coming to the heart of the car, the engine...i was stormed by it. Unlike its older predecessor, Matiz which had a chronic pick up problem with the AC running, the spark is a revelation. Its zippy and combined with the light steering...it brings a smile to your face while driving it. But then, like one of the laws of nature...the spark is not in any way perfect. Call it frugal engineering or whatever, GM has gone very stingy when it comes to insulating the rear of the car from suspension and road noise. Back seat drivers will always find it difficult to concentrate on your driving skills thanks to the constant drumming noise. But altogether, this is one decent package for any person in the market for a small car.

In about 300K or so you have a car that is best in city conditions and good for small families even on long drives. The gear ratio is excellent and you can drive in third gear in city. Handling is very good as steering is smooth and obedient. Braking is good and you can stop the car without worrying about instability. Acceleration is good and you can feel powerful in city conditions where you stop and go and need to overtake quickly.
The interiors are also good and comfortable for four people but fifth can be adjusted without too much compromise on comfort. The placemement of Speedometer is done like hig segment cars and that makes you feel big! There is one drawback though, interiors could be better if we did not have them dull but that doesn't make big difference. The hooks on seats to hang bags etc is a very good idea indeed.
I drove the car in December so can not comment on AC effectiveness but I assume it should be good as well.
Having tubeless tyres in all variants (as told by sales guy) is something we can not ignore. Its such a nice thing to have !
Stability at high speeds is awesome (I drove it at about 100 KPH) and it did not sway like other cars in this segment.
Looking at Price : Performance ratio, this car is BEST in its class.
P.S. I am sure this car will be one of the best models of GM (in times like today's economic slowdown this car can turn things around).

I think my earlier review which i had done on first week of april 2007 has been removed..anyways i have share with you my review after 1 year of bying & driving this good car....
Its exactly a year i have been driving my spark LT, it has performed exceptionally well so far, no problems with the engine or body alls good no break down so far....now for the bad part...
Service centres that too in a city like bombay are very few..i m staying in Andheri i have to drive nearly 45mins to jogeshwari to reach my nearest service centres ...that really sucks...earlier i had bought my car from a dealer National Garage barely 5mins from my place at Marol Naka, but within 2 months the dealer left the premise without any notice & had shifted to Worli...i Was totally furious...So from then onwards i had to drive 45mins for even a petty problem like changing a Rs.5 door light or car cleanup/washing...I am still pissed off on this...
So Aanybody planning to buy a CHEVY, please check your nearest dealer and then take your decision of buying it...For a MARUTI or TATA you have service centres every 500MTRS thats super facility...So if GM wants to survive in India they will have to built more customer friendly service centres atleast within every 2 kms....
Apart from this i am totally happy with my spark LT, but again its a 1000 parts mechanical car & any thing can go wrong anytime..& at that time you need service centres close by...
Great in its segment...good buyService centres are a big problem with very few around, service teams are not bad..but not great.

Exterior
Too good shiny look for black spark with golden chevy symbol. Rear look also attracts because of the rear glass wiper.
The exterior looks differs a lot in other models when compared to LT because of roof rails... so just go for LT for good exterior look
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
nice beach colored interiors no need to spend anything extra for interiors as it is fully loaded in LT model.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Smooth engine and smooth gearshift for quick moves but engine creates noise with A/C . Mileage is also not upto the mark with A/C
Ride Quality & Handling
I had few smooth & comfortable experiences on long drives with Spark from which one of them was @ 150-160 kms/hr speed without any kind of LOOSE CONTROL over the steering. Braking system has also supported well with the speed.
Final Words
Good for Quick moves in traffic & Value for money.
Areas of improvement
Mileage is the only area of improvement.

Exterior I don't want to comment on it. You can view the exterior and will love it.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Excellent interiors, too much space and excellent comfort. I drove it 25,000 kms within 1.5 years and i am loving it. Interiors are better than any other car in the same segment.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Well for a petrol car it gives me 11 kms/litre in city like kanpur with a.c. on, elsewise 13kms/litre. You all must know that Kanpur has the worst scenario for its roads, with big dumps and a lot of pollution. In this situtation spark gives an excellent mileage.
Very Low maintenance. I get it serviced and spend around 1,000 - 1,500/- per service every 7,500 kms. (not at the company, but from local garages).
Ride Quality & Handling Excellent!
Final Words I love it.
Areas of improvement Currently i cannot notice something important as i think the space has been utilized to its maximum and searching something new for me is quite difficult.
Dashboard, excellent space cause of the design of the front glass, lowest maintenanceless space for rear passengers

AND SECONDLY BECAUSE OF THE 3YEARS MAINTAINENCE FREE CONTRACT, WHICH NO CAR IN INDIA OFFERS CURRENTLY.

Exterior Very nice. Its best style than parent car Matiz. Head lights are awesome, side view is sober and rear tail lamps are very good styled. I think people who don't know style have find it ugly.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Again, very nice. Dashboard with speedometer at center is unique. Safety alrming lights are right in front of your eyes. In other cars with speedometer in center the safety lights for door, battery etc are also in center and hence can go un noticed.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is smooth, gear shift is normal (not very smooth, but OK for price range) and fuel ecomomy is bad (I get 14 kmpl).
Ride Quality & Handling Very nice, no knocking at all in any gear. My Swift has knocking noise, but Spark does not.
Final Words Best Value for money.
Areas of improvement Boot space to be more, more storage can be provided in dashboard, more power etc.

Exterior Good looks and design.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior is good compared to the competetion. Space is good compared to Alto but less compared to others. Changed the front seats because of the poor buid Quality (Thanks to the warranty/ maintenance package) It was absolutely free.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I have driven the car for around 80,000 kms now. What has been observed is engine performance deteriorates with the usage. Engine Performance is average and fuel economy is not that great. Gearbox is Ok and gearshift is poor and not to the expectations and will become worse with the usage. Due to rust in exhaust, replaced the exhaust system completely, was taken care free of cost. Replaced the gear cable due to the poor shift quality.
Ride Quality & Handling Suspensions were good till 50K kms but now has lost the crispness(80K). Ride quality is good and handling is superb at high speeds. Had to change both front suspensions by around 60K. Wheel hubs were replaced, and front disk breaks as well. Didnt get warranty for the wheel hubs (rotor) and break disks.
Final Words Good but expensive to maintain after the free maintence package.
Areas of improvement Need to make wear and tear parts little more cheaper.
Ride comfort, handling in high speeds, steeringhigh maintenance after 50K, poor paint quality..

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very nice compared to other small cars, Even a small thing CHILD LOCK was not fitted by GREAT MARUTI-WHY? coz of monopoly.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I can say good though not excellent,worth to buy,easy to drive,smooth engine,tyre grip better than other mini cars.
Ride Quality & Handling Very good as comfort is concerned.small car gives a midsegment car's comfort.smooth ,soundless quality materials ,dashboard big one& gives a better look. In small car segment, it was leading in features, comfort, driving comfort, look interior & exterior.
Final Words Great inspirer for other small kanjoos car companies.Others learnt too & added features more & more now. As Ambassador & Fiat were exploiting the customers for a long time, Maruti too was in that trend ,but now going on upgrading models by adding features.

Exterior Look is very nice,headlights arrangment is best and shape also.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Middle dash board having speedometer is something new.Very usefull arrangement and feeling speciouse.,beige colour is pleasent instead of black or gray.

Areas of improvement Service stations has to be improved. Quantity is very less of service stations. If chevrolet will able to improve the service stations will be good for the custemors.Publicity also not like maruti cars. Having plenty adds. Need to explore the technical speci.in adds also to keep touch custemors as like other companies.But its nots necessary if having good service.
