4.0 Exterior | 4.0 Comfort | 4.0 Performance |
3.0 Fuel Economy | 5.0 Value for Money |
Exterior Its attractive but a bit requires to be a bit more aerodynamic.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Excellent space for 7 to 8 people, Good sound proofing but engine noice inside the cabin is well heard than from outside; Seat arrangement is excellent in first and second row, however, 3rd row suitable for children but well acceptable for a good SUV; Music system has good pairing with mobile and bluetooth compatibility; Map of India provides good navigation, however, requires more frequent updates to keep pace with frequent changes in roads; also, maps do not provide information on diversions or one way road possibly because Gov of India does not extend satellite support. Climate control is very effective and comfortable, you travel continuously for 6 to 8 hours under external extreme climate yet you comes out as fresh as you started. Internal lights across all the rows are suitable enough. Headlights are appropriate in all conditions.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Smooth, Powerfull and silent compared to other SUVs (Even Fortuner/Pajero Sports), however, engine noice is audible inside at low speed /when rev which needs to be taken care by Mahndra. There is some Initial turbo lag, however, once you have reached above 1800 rpm, you can easily cruze above 100 km/hour effortlessly. Despite initial turbo lags ( almost similar to other SUVs of the sigment), you can beat the trafic when signal gets Green from Red.
Ride Quality & Handling City or highway drive is very cool, very comfortable and effortless which may posibly disaapoint driving enthusiast. To be very frank, I dont feel driving even in highly congested city traffic. I have drove upto 160 km/ hour speed just to see performance of the vehicle and have found it very stable, good control & good steering response. However, I dont recommend any one to risk with such high speed on Indian roads. Suspension is a bit soft for hard offroading, but I think this gives us advantages for those who use more than 80% times of city or highway driving. I agree, there is a bit body roll at low speed on unpaved or uneven road. However, soft suspension gives much confortable ride in city or on highways compared to Fortuner / Pajero Sports.
Final Words This is very potential and commendable SUV. I am very statisfied with this SUV as well as the after sales service of Mahindra ( Infinity Auto in Mumbai). I have completed 10,000 kms and have also done first service at Infinity Auto (Chuna Bhatti, Mumbai). The, First service cost me about Rs. 5500/- for consumables, labour & pick up/ drop was free. I have already drove about 600 kms after first service and have found preformance better and engine more smooth.
I recommend Mahindra to stop comparing Rexton W RX 7 (Auto) with Fortuner AT, instead, they should compare with Prado.
I recommend this Rexton AT to all those who have more than 80% of city or highway drive and balnce as offroad. I love this SUV.
About rating of this vehicle, I asked my family and friends and pleased to rate this 4 Star.
Areas of improvement Initial turbo lag ( Its almost similar to Fortuner or Pajero Sports), however, Mahindra should ty to improve this further. Engine noice inside cabin to be taken care of.
Power, City and Highway Driving, Space, Gadgets, After sales serviceInitial turbo lag and little body roll on unpaved at low speed
