Mercedes s class has designed the interior of it. And it has alao 4X4 feature. And anti-fogging glass it has, but average is only 10. But it is very good and excellent car

      Exterior Good.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Nice but not so good.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Good, nice with 10.85, 5.

Ride Quality & Handling Smopth, powerful even driven by 1 finger on it.

Final Words Cheap car with good things in it Mahindra Ssangyong has launched its mid-sized SUV the Rexton W in South Africa. Unveiled at the 2012 Busan Motor Show, this third-generation model of the SUV will join the Korando and Actyon Sport double cab pickup to be a part of the Indo-Korean manufacturer’s line up for the African nation.

The standard five-seater model costs 349995 Rand (Rs 22.75 lakh) while the luxury seven-seater variant will retail for 389995 Rand (Rs 25.35 lakh). Both models of the Rexton W will be on sale across all of Mahindra South Africa’s 22 dealerships.

Speaking on the launch, Ashok Thakur, CEO of Mahindra South Africa said “The addition of the Rexton W to the existing SsangYong line-up in South Africa, being the Korando C-segment SUV and the Actyon Sport double cab pickup, not only broadens our potential customer base, but also contributes to dealer viability and overall brand awareness.”

The SUV in both variants will be powered by a 2.7 litre turbo diesel engine which will churn out 162bhp and 340nm of torque. Like most Korean vehicles this SUV is also feature loaded with (Electronic Stability Program), ARP (Active Roll over Protection), UWS (Ultrasonic Warning System), Cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity and Rain-sensing wipers.

The Rexton W will be also be launched in India soon to compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mitsubishi Pajero on size, but might be priced more competitively to give Ssangyong better head start. We expect this model to be made available here at the start of 2013.

Areas of improvement Dash board is empty & rearview mirrior shoud be like fortuner price should be more then estabilished but only after areas become good.

Fuel economy is good, style is awesome, 8seater muscularness is very nicePrice is very low , dash board is empty

Exterior Excellent exterior. Although the back of the car won't attract you. It does not have Mahindra written on it execept for a space in the back. 😉

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Almost all features of a high end luxury SUV available. Its very comfartable and a lot of leg space. The back seats are uncomfortable although the company says that 3 people can sit on the back seat, but only 2 are comfortable, its perfect for children.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Turbojet Engine. Good pick up. SRS gearbox.

Ride Quality & Handling Nice stearing. Comfortable Handling and Mesmarizing Ride. Its AWD.

Final Words Amazing car in the SUV segement and is better than Ford Endevour, Toyota Fortunier, Cheverolet Captiva and Mitshubushi Pajero. A complete pacage of features of the cars in the C segement. A must buy car and is value for money. Enjoy the comfort ride

Areas of improvement The back seat and Mileage. Also Reverse Camera (Back Camera) should Have been given. No requirement of the sun roof.

Exterior and Interior would attract you. Drive is very smooth and comfartable. Good seating spaces.Mileage

Exterior Looks like a good conventional chunky SUV. Lacks flair but manages to look contemporary.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very spacious and this hits you the moment you let yourself in. Handles easy and is good at low and high speeds.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Initially slightly noisy but gets down to business quietly as you get moving. Fuel economy on RX 7 should be 8-9 The AT works very smoothly. Gears mesh with ease and there is no slack.

Ride Quality & Handling Handles bumps very well. Very easy on the hands to drive through heavy traffic and bad roads

Final Words Decent SUV with loads of space . Its a genuine SUV look, ride and feel. Overall a serious contender. With the scale Mahindra has and the fact they now own SSangyong - this should be serious play.

Areas of improvement Body is a trifle too big. While its well balanced, it could have done with a shorter turning radius.Even fuel mileage would have been better if it were lighter.

Comfortable ride and lots of spaceLast row strictly for short rides only

The car is very comfortable in the city as well the highway. Holds up comfortably at high speeds. Light steering is a big advantage. The engine is very responsive as well making overtaking a breeze. Servicing and maintenance weren't as expensive as I had imagined. Spares are easily available in Bangalore. Not sure about other cities

Fantastic car I have ever driven. I compared fortuner and found value for money for Rexton. No vibrations and smooth ride. People who love driving will understand this car better. It gives sophosticated look as compare to Fortuner. Person can sleep inside at full length. Four wheel drive till 40 kmph makes it amazing.

      Exterior

Little old Fashion but It still carries its Lines to show some class.Looks a little like Mercedes SUV from 2001-2004

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Spacious interiors with multiple features probably even which we might not need.Lot of Space and room

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Engine is little slow intially but as we clock it starts performing even better....Lambi Race ka Ghora

      Ride Quality & Handling

Ride is comfy even my kids who are very critical (as they have always travelled in Innova Toyota) have declared it to be comfartable at the back.Especially since we are all very tall 6feet plus or nearing it...

      Final Words

Go for It.....Great Value for money since it is also AWD with Auto( I own RX7)

      Areas of improvement

There are always some areas for improvement if we want to be really critical....I would just want its spares and service to be cheaper...service is more expensive the Toyota Fortuner which is also a very good car...but atleast 3.5 lacs expensive

Good Style and FeaturesNo Protection underneath Car from Mud and Dirt,Engine exposed to the Road

Exterior Very good. Simple, understated lines, with badges all around the car. Looks very classy.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very good. Plush and spacious. The steering is a bit quirky with too many controls tough. The horn press diameter is too small though, requiring one to leave one hand from the steering to honk (can't use just the thumb). No direct switch to pick up an incoming call from the steering even though there are 8 switches on it. The built-in infotainment system is quite underpowered (in terms of processor) and is sluggish to respond. Hands free calling (over bluetooth) works well. 4 charging points all across the car.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox When it works the engine performance is good. One is able to steer at low and high speeds, almost (though not quite) like a petrol car. The ESP appears to provide the car with stability, so the body roll is not too pronounced - though I have not tried sharp turns at 100 kmph. I am possibly getting 8-9 kms per litre though its too soon as I've just ran less than my first tankful.

The gear box is a bit clunky, and has a large stick throw, which is takes getting used to, after driving sedans.

Ride Quality & Handling Is good and smooth. Handling is quite easy and I am guessing that the ESP must be reducing the body roll, which a vehicle of this height is expected to have. One is able to negotiate in bumper to bumper traffic easily since the steering is light and the engine quite responsive overall.

Final Words Here's where the catch is: Quality Control and After Sales Service. Within 6 days of buying my new Rexton, my 'engine check' light on the dashboard lit up, indicating something was wrong with the engine. This is a light I have never seen in my other 2 cars even after years of running them. My family got stranded on a roadside dhaba on a highway, and I called Mahindra Customer Service. To be fair to them, they were quite responsive and eventually my vehicle was towed to the nearest service station (in Meerat), about 50 kms away from where my car was stuck.

The technician in the Meerat service station was unable to even get his laptop to connect to the car. He wasn't adequately trained to handle a Rexton, even though this was one of the authorised, and big, service stations in that area. Result - they could not figure out what was wrong with the car. Meanwhile, the engine light miraculously disappeared. Since this has happened before (on the 3rd day of buying and just doing about 200 kms), I decided to drive back to Noida.

Whether this issue eventually gets fixed or not, there are two things to highlight here.

      Quality Control

It's one thing for a new car to develop minor snags, like wipers not working or side view mirrors not folding. It's another thing to have a core piece of machinery, the ENGINE (!), not working correctly. That too, within 6 days of buying it.

This is a lack of quality control procedures or a lack of enforecement, and seriously reduces the customer trust on the product. And this problem has been faced by others as this (detailed) article on the Team-BHP site shows.

      Aftersales service

Mahindra's Customer Care is quite responsive, and I think they did the best they could to make sure that we were troubled the least, given the fact that my car was stuck in a slightly remote area (Garhmukteshwar). However, what does trouble me the training that has been provided to the technicians of even large dealerships in handling Rexton.

The technician at the Meerut Service Station, as I mentioned before, could not even get his computer to connect to the car's ECM. This is very troubling, since I do a lot of road trips, sometimes to remote locations.

Good handling, well crafted interiors, tough bodyBraking, steering too light
