Exterior
The car looks luxurious compared to other SUV's . Appearence is simply world class . I would have preferred slightly more aggressive front look but this SUV is overall very proportionate. Neither LOUD CURVES like XUV nor too tall like Scorpio nor too BOXY like the land rover nor too small like the BMW X1.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
Easily the best in class interiors , Lots of space for keeping bottles , Sun roof is very nice to have . Seats are luxurious and memory position of driver seat where it remembers your last seating position is excellent for getting in and out. Last space is excellent for carrying luggage but average for seating.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
Very powerful engine. A bit noisy while switching gears in automatic but smooth once cruising. If you use manual mode it is even better and you can operate in manual mode both by using gear shift button as well as steering mounted buttons. After initial lag the acceleration of this SUV is again best in class. Not as fast as a BMW sedan but very high acceleration and pick up. I have driven bolero and scorpio and they are just not in the same class. Mileage is easily 9 kmpl in mixed mode handling with 75% AC use and at least 11 kmpl on highways. I have driven only 600 KM so mileage may go up as I am not exactly pushing the car .
Ride Quality & Handling
Excellent on highway and in cruise control mode you feel you are in an aeroplane . However one has to note that it is bit bouncy on speed breakers or on the off terrain / broken roads with pits. I think this is because the ground clearence is quite high for Rexton so you feel bit of rolling motion. Mahindra should think of lowering the height a bit based on feedback.
Final Words
Feature packed , hi tech SUV . Once you sit in this you are going to hate other SUV's. No offense but other SUV's like fortuner , endeavour look at least a generation behind in the feautres and interiors.
Areas of improvement
Body roll / bounce issues on potholes , Rear camera would have been better instead of just a sensor , electrical adjustible mirrors .
Looks , Size , Engine , Smoothness , Sun Roof , superb turning radius , bluetooth , GPSBody Roll due to high clearence.

Purchased Rexton RX5 as the proud first customer from VVC motors in jan 2012, problems started six months after the purchase
My clutch broke down four times in last 6 months, no one from the service centre ( VVC motors) are able to solve the issue as they are always in denial mode, my vehicle is left in servicing centre for almost three months in last 6 months with no one to help it. even if i want to sell the vehicle there is no one willing to buy this because of the clutch issues and servicing centre is unable to correct this.
The description by the Customer Care manager Mr. Girish Daramoni is " If the vehicle is not driven properly you can loose the clutch box in as early as 300-400 km of drive ". Kindly see this as red alert in buying this vehicle as this warning is given by Mr. Girish Daramoni and he will not able to help it if any issues occur in this regard
I strongly recommend all the reviewers to prohibit buying this vehicle to save yourself in time and money
This vehicle is new to India and kindly don't experiment in buying this vehicle like me

Exterior V GOOD, looks like prev M class Benz.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) EXCELLANT for the class ratHer looks D PLUS segment car. good quality of plastics n leather. itis full of gagets.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The IIIrd gen Rexton is a good effort by Ssangyong. However slow pickup, engine has to work hard to achieve 100km/h but once achieved pulls well, it is a mamoth engine with 180 plus horses. The engine makes a noise irritate the one in the car. M&M should refine the engine the present behave like old generatin. M& M known for the quality n agile products and has a benchmark reputation for SUV in India. Balero, scorpio n XUV 500 with a trck records. They should check for the slow gear shift, preferably replace it with a dual auto gear transmission.
Ride Quality & Handling The suspension is soft, handling is good. breaks work well.
Final Words If M&M has to compete with the big players like Tayoto (Fortuner), Ford (Endavour), Chave(Captiva) and Mitshubishi(Pajero), they need to sort-out the essence of the car i.e. engine noise by its refinement, slow auto gear shift with dual auo gear transmission and insulation of chamber. M&M auto will keepup its rputation intact by intervening for the lack of qulity deep in the heart of the car.
Areas of improvement M&M need to sort-out the essence of the car i.e. engine noise by its refinement some RPM adjustment, slow auto gear shift with dual auto gear transmission and insulation of chamber. Suggestions are easy to post than to do the way people like, many factors viz. cost, technology etc matters.

Exterior One look at it and it looks close to Mercedes M Series. Like the design of the vehicle as it looks macho and robust
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very plush leather upholtery interiors. Much much better than XUV500 which uses cheap plastic. The Kenwood 2 Din deck with large screen and multiple functions are also good.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The car starts slowly and gear shift is bit tardy. But once it goes beyond 40 kmph, it runs on the road. I reached 100 kmph in around 12 secs which is cool. Fuel economy is bad around 9.5 kmpl. But if you are want to gor luxury SUV with economic price tag, fuel economy becomes bit secondary. Especially considering 2.7 litre engine.
Ride Quality & Handling Enjoyed driving on msooth as well as bumpy roads. The suspension is neat and smooth.
Final Words Would like to exchange XUVV500 for this. aroun 24 lacs ex-mumbai price, is much better than Santa fe and fortuner which have similar features
Areas of improvement Competitive pricing. fuel mileage.

Exterior Nice contemporary styling while original Merc lines still visible. Definite head turner on our roads. Impressive lighting system (LED plus halogens, etc), aggresive but sleek/stylish stance. Little extra chrome in front for my taste but overall not bad. Very large view area all around but blind spot on A pillar and side mirror junction.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Very comfortable to drive. Great viewing area all around except for blind spot as mentioned above. Driver seat fully electrically adjustable. Very comfortable. No fatigue on long drives. Did 3000km trip without any problem or any sort of ache or discomfort. Stereo pretty good with in built GPS, reverse cam but I would prefer a choice to upgrade. 4 speakers + 2 tweeters provided, option of adding 2 more available. Sun roof feature very good. Very nice & plush interiors. Extra Seat covers really not necessary. Good & very functional dashboard. Could have had some more features like digital fuel consumption, service time, etc. Even if provided as optional extra after fitting.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Auto transmission a bit sluggish. In manual mode gear box seem to have a mind of its own and does pretty much what it wants. While gunning in 1st gear, manual mode, gear box simply changes on its own. But once its settled on a steady 50kmph plus, car runs pretty silently. Engine noise audible again post 120kmph. Fuel economy as expected in a car of this size. On my road trip I got a 9.5km average overall. This is with 2 passengers & AC running. On the whole very easy to drive and for me graduating from a manual drive this car feels like a dream.
Ride Quality & Handling Steering a bit too soft (supposed to stiffen as speed increases). Makes city driving a breeze. Overall ride is very nice. Suspensions are sprung soft and takes on our roads without much problem. Speeds over 120-140 km recommended only if straight roads are available. DO NOT try cornering or sharp high speed turns with this vehicle. Its not made for that. There is significant body roll even with all the bell whistles like ABS, Stabiliser, etc provided. Auto Cruise control feature is a great plus on the highway.
Final Words Great value for money. For all you budget purchasers like me, this is the closest you would come to a Merc M class for this price. Has all the features one finds in premium vehicles while staying within the 20 lakh price range. I imagine the manual version would be a great bargain. Fit and finish pretty impressive for Mahindra but can definitely improve. For example all doors dont shut the same. Needs adjusting. Looks classy enough even though the brand is still virtually unknown. Does not help that Mahindra is mysteriously silent about this car with almost zero publicity. I have had people of all types coming up to me asking about the car. First question, which company does this belong to!!!
Areas of improvement Mahindra Service!!! I am very concerned that Ssangyong has not trained Mahindra service well enough. My car was delivered with a wheel alignment issue which was not rectified by Mahindra but by my local wheel alignment chap. Apart from that the car has been running without any issue. First service (10K Kms) is not yet done so I am crossing my fingers and hoping it comes back intact post that. Car could do with some more digital info systems on the dash. Accessories available are quite pathetic. Music system is a 2011 vintage and they could offer newer Kenwood systems even as options. Value for money is the USP Mahindra has adopted and they should exploit this further. Like by offering more after fitments to the consumer, etc.

Exterior For a long time lokking for a perfect suv, tried all version SAFARI,ENDEVEOUR, FORTUNER and also seen CAPTIVA etc... But all were disappointed on terms of different plantform respectively, here if talk about REXTON good on style. Front looks as merc model m class, classy and stylish, Headlight is fantastic with led light.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) FANTASTIC INTERIORS dual tone interior gives a rich look n feel like u driving a class product and offcourse it is... suspention is too good I say. I had to go thru bad roads as my work demands suspention is so good that I rarely feels the bumps. If u doesnt feel bumps or bad roads while driving, means u r in one of the quality car which provide comfort.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is good little noisy during accelaration but less then all automatic available in market. I just had purchased it cant tell abt average. Gear box is good as good as endeveour.

Exterior Styling is suberb with good aero dynamic shape. Not so agressive stance with good road presence. Definitely a head turner with that gleaming prominant chrome grill. A day running light in the place of current park light could have added more appeal to the vehicle and could become a signature style.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): Is loaded with features such as auto light, auto wiper, sun roof, cruise control, abs, esp, hill descent control, 3memory set seat adjustment, paddle shift gear control on steering, navigation etc. The interior of the vehicle is very rich with good quality leather and plastics and piano black wood finish panel.Even though the 2nd row is roomy and comfortable, an adjustable 2nd row and a more practical 3rd row seating would have increased the seating comfort. 3rd row is best suited to kids. And considering the size of the vehicle a reverse camera should have been a standard feature.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: Rexton has a powerful engine with lot of torque. Gives a good acceleration at mid range and higher speed, even though the engine tends to be a bit lethargic from a hault. The engine is a bit noisy in AT mode at lower speed. But is very calm and composed at higher speeds.
Ride Quality & Handling: Those who look for a smooth, rich and luxurious ride can surely consider rexton as their choice. The ride is smooth and effortless. The steering is very light and it helps to maneuver the vehicle (some people may not like very light steering and they may not feel the same level of confidence to abrubtly change lane or change direction as they have with other vehicles). But the light steering during low speed is designed to become steady and and gripy at higher speed for better handling and easy maneuvering of the vehicle. Suspension is very good and you will glide over bumps and potholes.
Final Words I have done 5900 kms, and I am in love with this vehicle.

Exterior Looks are good but its there that the goods things stop.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Front and middle row is ok but third row is terrible. practically non existent.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Clutch will surely break down every 10,000-15,000 km. will need to be replaced costing about a Rs 1,00,000. pathetic AC and blower. Can never cool the car in India. If you are willing to spend this much money every 3 months and put your SUV in workshop for one week atleast, only then go for it.
Ride Quality & Handling Suspension is ok and handling wise also ok but does have a body roll.
Final Words Never, Ever buy this SUV. Pathetic and absolute horrible response from Mahindra. They can only make jeeps and can never make a high end product. Not in their DNA.

Exterior -JUST OK,looks big from outside, wheel size is small, head light not good enough, poor loking head lights.only one colour is good.overall look of car is not good.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
LOT OF FEATURES,BUT ALL USELESS,NO COMFORT,SPACE JUST OK,interior is very normal, space is good, but not properly utilized.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
VERY SLOW PICK UP SPECIALLY IN AUTO MODE,A/C PERFORMANCE REALLY WORSE,GEAR BOX NOT SMOOTH ,take lot of time in shifting gears.
Ride Quality & Handling
POOR RIDE QLTY AND AVERAGE HANDILING,need lot of improvrments, vision from driver seat is also poor.
Final Words -this car not worth considering against fortunner or pijario.this car suitable for korea only, not designed as per indian conditions.
Areas of improvement
a/c quality is really poor, pick up need to be improved,in buit music system is of very poor quality. shifting of gear take lot of time, even speaker quality is also poor, this car will have a tough time in selling.mahindra has not done poper R&d work before launching this product.
