Hi There,
Just took a test drive of the new laura 1.8 TSI.
The car is very refined / solid and pulls just like an aircraft (the thrust is almost similar when an aircraft suddenly speeds up before take off). I have been trying to finalize b/ween the corolla/civic and this one. On the refinement/seating/power available/quality - I would say that the Laura is way ahead. Apart from some features which are not available in it as compared to the civic/corolla. But there are some available in Laura as well which are not in civic/corolla.
The only negative aspect which is up my mind is the upleep costs / A.S.S. / spare parts cost after reading through a lot of horror stories connecting to skoda dealerships.
Would request all who can put in advice here. Thanks

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Excellent interiors with fit and finish of any super luxury car.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Brilliant engine with brilliant gearbox, however fuel economy is city is lot to be desired. Havent driven it still on a highway so cannot comment
Ride Quality & Handling Excellent especially for Delhi roads. The suspension is very taut so ensures you do not feel any bumps even in this weather
Final Words The car is excellent, out and out a drivers car. No other car in this range comes close to it. However the dealers need to be far more professional. Even though i have had the car for nearly a month I still dont have the registration number or the final invoice. I am still driving the car on Temp registration. If they make such basic mistakes, It makes me wonder what will happen when the car goes for service.
Areas of improvement Fogging of the windscreen, dealers need to be more professional.

I test drove this amazing car..its a car for those who love to drive and become one with the car, pick up is like a jet plane is about to take off, power dilvery is so so smooth that you dont even realize it. Just keep on pressing the pedal and power will keep coming, wont just stop...and then brake without holding the steering. It will stop in a blink of an eye without even veering an inch from its path. TSI engine is a gem. I have driven Honda Civic for quite some time but its nowhere close to Laura 1.8 TSI. features, comfort, leg room, turning radius, it glides over potholes. ground clearance is better (though didnt test it loaded with 5 adults). Everything fits in place to make it a near perfect car for enthusiats and passengers alike..its a car that can protect you and family in accidents (God forbid) because of its build quality. I am waiting for Laura RS, gonna buy it. If you love to drive, look no further, it will be a crime. My frds own Octavia and keep cribbing about the high spares cost..but i am mentally prepared for it. I dont wanna buy a civic or something and miss out on the pleasure of driving a Laura.

Exterior Great Looks, though its doesnt have typical Aero dynamic jazzy shape and fancy lights like Cruze, Civic, Corolla Altis or Verna fluidic (though it doesnt fall in the same segment).
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Comfortable leg room, seat adjusments are good, lot of storage pockets. seating space at rear is comparatively lower due to AC Vent, decent head room.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine the best-Smooth like a good single malt... Its a sheer pleasure, Gear Box the best i have driven so far. Fuel Economy is not great I dont expect a great fuel economy too. I was mentally prepared for a 7/8 kmpl in city and 11/12 kmpl in highway.
Ride Quality & Handling Speed machine. HYD to BLR 6.5 hrs flat - on a road without traffic u can comfortably touch 175/180. not safe though. just for heck of it i did touch those speeds for few seconds. but 140 kmph. I was crusing with absolute control.
Braking- the best with ABS and ASR
Reversing- poor visibility, i am not comfortable with the sensors
Steering- Great handling, but little heavier than may earlier cars (Honda City & Fiesta)
Handling clutch is different from my previous cars need to get used to it (I have just finished 2000Kms).
Final Words You love speed, power, comfort and dont compare everyday fuel economy with diesel cars and other sedans. go for it.. its pleasure driving this machine.
Areas of improvement If they cud do something to improve fuel economy without compromising any of the things, then it would be great, Better view for reversing, Auto raise and close of boot.. its heavy, Leather seats shud be given by default for a car like this.

Exterior Exterior us Good!
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) No complain with interior.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Performance of the car is stunning. I drove 15,000 kms in 6 months and mostly on highways. Trust me its a pleasure to drive. Touched a highest speed of 205 on baroda expressway. Fuel economy is not good but its the same case for all the cars having a great driving pleasure.
Honda civic and toyota corrolla are distant behind when comes to performance. Although sales figures for the petrol model are not encouraging, surely it will pick up as indian users are sceptical about skoda's petrol engines.
Ride Quality & Handling Thrill to Drive.
Final Words Buy it as its available at a great price. After sales service was good and all those rumours about skoda dealers are baseless. 15000 kms service interval is a blessing. Problem of fogging on windshield is solved in my first service.
Areas of improvement Nil.

Exterior Great presence with chiselled looks at the front. However the rear appears outdated. Little boxy. I wish the car looked more contemporary.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Excellent fit and finish. Way ahead of most Japanese cars in terms of quality of material provided. Felt lined interiors, compartments and boxes that close with a smooth thud. Spacious in the back. Boot is as big as a small apartment in Colaba.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Closest thing to a sports car. Can leave far more expensive cars red faced. Practically flat torque curve once it crosses 1800 rpm and keeps pulling upto 200kmph without a sweat. It can probably do upto 225 though I have never tried. Combines with great fuel efficiency. I generally get 10 kmpl in Hyd city. Silky smooth gear box which even a child would be able to operate.
Ride Quality & Handling Overall very good. Very refined and soft with 15" wheels. Even at full throttle the car does not convey a sense of speed, there is no sound of protest fron the engine ! This is the positive and negative aspect.
Final Words Very little can beat this if you are a driving enthusiast looking for good value for money. On the road, it can easily whip any car on this side of Rs30 Lakhs. A wolf in sheep's clothing. I'm waiting for the 200 bhp, 2.0 L version to arrive.
Areas of improvement Not much except the looks.

Exterior I personally love the exterior. Only from rear it looks slightly bland otherwise aggressive styling.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) You dont get those creature comforts even the cars with half the price can deliver. Front seats are supremely comfortable. Rear seat leg room and comfort is just ok. The interior screams of superior build quality and feels plush.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Gem of an engine this side of 30 lacs. Can easily go past 200+. Gearshift is precise but have long throws.Turbo kicks in as early as 1800rpm. It has returned me an average of 11kmpl.
Ride Quality & Handling Get rid of the stock Goodyears and go for Michelin PS3 and you will feel the difference. Car handles really well though not as brilliant as the old jetta. Ride settles as speed increases.
Has great straightline stability. Steering feels direct but not as good as fiesta or jetta. Chasis has really good build quality and you can literally throw the car into corners.
Final Words Car that a True Car Lover Must Have.Skoda needs to improve its service though. Incidentally, in the recent past there has been some remarkable improvements in the after sales service.
Areas of improvement A larger, better compressor for aircon. Better after sales service.
