I would take this opportunity to request the readers to go through the various comments of the forum, which shall be useful and wish to thank the readers and other people who have taken out time from their busy schedule to write their comments to help others take sensible decision. This review has received an overwhelming response (crossing 20,000 in less than a year). I shall update with other startling facts soon as its going to near 1 year. Please remember we have collectively presented our opinions but the ultimate decision should be YOURS to buy this car or

      Dear Friends, I am a doctor by profession & need to travel approx. 50-60 kms in city. Earlier to this car I have used FIAT PADMINI & FIAT SIENA and no wonder I was having a hard time in finding a suitable replacement as safety was an issue paramount for me. Mileage could have taken a backseat but alas FABIA provided me both, a solid, tank like built with a reasonable mileage/ltr of petrol.I had zeroed to three cars; SWIFT ZXi, FABIA & FORD FUSION. Even though FUSION is good in many respect but in comparison, is really costly without enough safety features. Finally it was to be b/w FABIA & SWIFT. Both these cars are good in their own way. Rather owners of SWIFT are very satisfied and happy as it drives very well, is a bit cheaper and has MARUTI service back up. It should be your personal choice which is paramount. But the difference in the pricing (approx 64K) in NOIDA seems justified because of following reasons as FABIA;

1.Has REAR AC DUCTS and MUSIC SYSTEM with external input 2.Is approx a foot longer than SWIFT (3992 against 3695mm). It is taller too. 3. The REAR INTERIOR WIDTH is 20mm more than SWIFT (1310mm against 1290mm) Kindly do not be under the impression that SWIFT has wider seats. But of course SWIFT is wider from outside (1690mm against 1642mm of FABIA). I guess interior width would matter to the most. 4. 60:40 split of rear seats are really handy and you would find it useful on many occasions. SWIFT doesn’t have the same. 5.Has MOTORIZED rear view mirror which can be heated as well, absent in SWIFT 6.Has REACH & RAKE adjustable STEERING WHEEL, which is absent in SWIFT. 7. DICKY space is much larger in comparison to SWIFT ant it comes with two tier adjustable parcel shelf 8. Is heavier and solidly built and comes with a FLOATING IMMOBILZER as against STATIC IMMOBILIZER of SWIFT. 9.FABIAs back seat has significantly more leg & head room.

Though I am not happy with the noisy engine (considering it to be a petrol engine), the jerky ride when you shift the lower gears or while there is a change of speed as well as other noises in  the cabin

A word of CAUTION: Kindly get to know the important switches like indicators as it is on the left side of steering wheel, lights switches as it is placed somewhere else, REVERSE GEAR is forwardly placed. If you are not convinced about taking it alone, request the outlet people & hopefully they will get it delivered at your address. In all I am satisfied with my choice and I hope my satisfaction remains the same way. Kindly dont take me wrong when I say FABIA AMBIENTE can even be compared to the top model of HONDA CITY in terms of features. Check & compare the specifications of both to believe it.

While making a decision b/w petrol & diesel variants of FABIA kindly do some calculations and then take a decision as u would be paying considerable extra money which can be saved. Though current diesel engines are really topclass but the age-old fact remains that aftre 2-3 years they require more maintenance.

The petrol mileage of FABIA is pretty decent as after driving 4000kms now in Delhi & Noida, I am continuosly getting 12-12.5km/ltr of 91 OCTANE petrol with 100% AC on & my driving includes approx.20kms in 4-5th gear, 20kms in 3-4th gear and 10kms in 1-2-3rd gear. I remain hopeful that after 1st service I should get atleast 1km/ltr increase in fuel effeciency so that will take the mileage to 13-13.5km/ltr and also to get rid of the annoying WHINNING SOUND inside the cabin.

Sober & elegant style, good utility features, solid built-feels like a tank, tons of equipmentsNoisy CABIN, Slow pick up, jerky ride in low gears, costly spares & bothering after sales service

Big disappointment after a long wait. Skoda did all wrong things for this car including the price. No huge improvement from swift in terms of interior or space, except the boot. Outdated boxy looks. Too noisy engine and cabin as well. Feels like sitting inside a maxicab. Under powered too. Not to comment on the ground clearence. Should be a cause of worry on our roads, if fully loaded. This car is worth sub 4 lakhs. Combined with the poor service & costly spares of skoda, this car is a total failure. Expected to be a swift killer but the result was other way. Good luck next time Skoda India, with a better model !!!
Solid built, Marginally spacious rear & boot than swiftriduculous price, noisy engine, boxy looks, low ground clearence

Just 15 days ago i bought the white one amby intial it gave me 17.5 in city and now it increased to 18.5 city on highway its amazing to 22+ ,really the wonder when i booked many friends comment abt the noisy engine but when we ride it craked the comments ,i'been driving swift 2yrs and zen for 4 yrs really it broke the performance which i've already with them (55000-swift,125000 in zen)even i had the comment that diesel engine will have discomfort and very often we get tired and so on,at a stretch i went 350 kms i didn't feel any discomfort or any type of vibration-thanks for the VW pd engine each and everything is designed to suit indian style and riding comfort-till date i've crossed 1400kms very peacefully,i found the breaking efficiency also take care the following cars, powerful brakes, turning radius is very sharp and has no whobling ,i found the C.I wheels are lighter and may damage .

warning alerts when we forget to release the hand break, reserve diesel and so on,Really skoda never let me down to feel me.thanks for the people who worked hard (price is high )and all other aspects really worth .thanks for millinium motor engineers for their greater support even after their sales.

audio not upto the mark, enough leg room behind  seats and only 4 can comfortably sit (big drawback)

if people can afford the price then there r no option .thanks for many people who helped me in their reviews also very useful in selecting the vehicle.

again in ghat roads it over took all petrol vehicle's it gained at 14km/lit

really very good fuel economy, amazing diesel engine (except noise)accomadate 4 only

Fabia is a special car with special features like parktronic,etc...it comes with a gr8 build quality nd d car really looks gud. d car is so gud dat we can compare it with some sedans..its comfort nd features is like a sedan..no discomfort at all while driving .. d car looks rich nd nice It comes with an exceptional build quality and this is one striking feature that you will notice right from the moment you test drive a Fabia. It comes with Volkswagon and Audi trademark engine and the first few hundred kilometers that I put in gave me 21 kmpl at 80:20 highway to city driving. The interiors are a pleasure, with rear AC vents (first in the class in India) and et cetera. The features, for sure, are many to bowl you over. The best part is the thud sound with which the door closes, and that no empty metal noise can be heard at all. The door is so hefty and heavy (again an epitome of the highest build quality) that you will instantly be in awe about the vehicle. The safety features are first of the kind in this segment and the parktronic display, computerised displays add to that x-factor. The vehicle can safely reach 35 kmph in 2nd gear and speeds of up to 70 kmph can be achieved in the third gear without feeling abrupt about the vibrations. Even when you are only at 1000 rpm and say in the 4th gear, the car gives no experience of zerks whatsoever and does not stop. It has heating coils in the external mirrors, which means that the driver need not bother about wiping them in the rainy season. When you look at the car, you can understand that how every minute detail has been taken care of. Behind the bumper comes a solid metal support and in the case of any accident -- it is an added protection plus that if the accident causes any damage then --- instead of replacing the bumper, we can just get it dented. This car has really impressed me nd for sure it will even impress u!!if u r looking for a gud , nice, luxurios nd spacious car, go for it!!Good fuel economy, rich interiors, superb build quality, excellent features, very safe, stylishtinted glass , a bit noisy but sporty

I was looking for a car in exchange to my First generation Honda City done only 34k in seven years. I looked at the few options available.

I tried my hands on Ford Fiesta, though it’s a nice cute car I found it little cramped on the back seat and personally was a bit skeptical to go for Ford.

Than I also took a TD for Hyundai Verna. I found to be a great engine but the refinement which I was getting even on my old Honda City was missing in Verna.

Honda City was the one which I really like in all departments but the new city was on the cards in 3-4 months so I had to burry that from my mind.

Also tried the SX4. It really seemed a good car, mileage was less but the interiors were not up to the standards. Also the refinement levels were seriously lacking.

Than one fine day I was driving past Skoda showroom and I happen to take a TD for Fabia. One the first note I was really pissed off with its heavy sound though the interior quality really blowed me away.

Finally I settled myself buying the Fabia diesel classic model in Red colour.

About the car-  I was told that the first batch of Fabias are entirely imported. Even the battery comes from the Czech plant. The service intervals I’m told are 10,000 kms

The music system: The in-dash CD-cum-radio player pretty good. Sadly there are only 4 front-mounted speakers: 2 in the doors, and 2 that bounce off the windscreen.

The ground clearance: I take it as accurate the 146mm. That said, we managed to clear all speed breakers without scraping the underpinnings, courtesy the wonderful suspension and that was with a payload of 4 adults.

It is impressive that all versions of the Fabia are supplied with dual airbags.

The power windows can be shut or opened from the outside (with the engine off), using the keys. Just twist the key in the door lock, hold it a few seconds, and all windows are operated.

Ownership Experience - The Fabia delivers adequate performance. Responses to the throttle are also not lightning-quick below 2000rpm, in city traffic, the Fabia’s large cylinders have enough pulling power. Once past 2000rpm, the Fabia is no slouch..

The slick, light gearbox is another matter entirely. It is completely brilliant and even addictive to use. Very positive and light, it slots in without fuss or much effort.

Milaege – In the last 6 months of usage of 5000 kms, the car dank a lot initially with the figures of only 11.5 km/l which gradually settled to 18 km/l without AC in winters. The highway figures suggested 21 km/l with 50% AC on.

Verdict - The tactile and desirable Fabia delivers all of Skoda’s core values intact, in some way justifying the premium price. Provided you are not hellbent on having a boot, more for more is what the Fabia promises to deliver, and it does. It really is a Fabia feel special.

Good Fuel Economy, Great styling and comfort.Heavy engine sound.

I had purchased a Fabia Ambiente Petrol recently. According to me its superb. Recently Skoda has reduced their price by a considerable amount. Now the difference in price of Swift Dzire ZXi and Fabia Ambiente Petrol is only 30 thousand. I have also a Mitsubishi Lancer but the feel of this car is just amazing. Its worth paying that extra amount. Truly you feel special while driving this car. The dual tone dashboard has increased the beauty of the car but the stereo system could have been much better. Safety features are also extremely good. I had taken test drive of Swift Dezire, Verna, Palio Style, Accent, UVA, Ford Fiesta but this is the best in comfort, features, space and the pleasure that you derive while driving. The boot space is fairly big enough with 300 litres capacity. AC gets chilled out in no time and you will not feel from inside that you are driving at a speed of 125 kms until you check your speedo-meter.  I am not aware what will it be in the long run but as of now I am enjoying every bit of it...

Very good fuel economy with a great style and featuresInteriors are fantastic and in this segment its the most spacious car with ample of legroom

i took a test drive of fabia.over all car is good.but  the main problem with the car is that the diessel engine is very noisy.u can even hear the sound of diessel engine inside the cabin and that sound is very irretating.only way to avoid the sound is to turn on cd player ( which the skoda  cochin sales man did to hide the sound of engine from me .clever man.).after paying 8 lacks all u get is a noisy underpowered dissel engine.

spacious, good gear shift, feel like driving a big car, looksnosiy diseel engine, sound of diseel engine inside the cabin

      hi Friends..

I took the test drive today, i m not convinced very much about this vehicle due to reasons below

      1. Noisy Engine ( to reduce it we can turn on the stereo ...lol)

      2. Its Bumpy..not enough leg room for passengers behind driver

      3. Its very very expensive for this segment.(Hatchback)

      4. Low ground clearance.

      5. Funny sounding horn ( it is designed as per the government regulations i believe...lol)

Things which i liked about this is car are

      1. Mileage (15+ in city and 20+ outer )

      2. Boot space

      3. Brand name

      4. Gear shift, Dash board space, Steering comfort.

I was told that they are going to launch a petrol version 1.2 lit by end of APR08 and would cost less than this..

      So....wait if u want to..

Fuel economy, The Brand nameNoisy Engine, Bumpy, low ground clearance, has a funny sounding horn

I waited for over four months to check out for Fabia. Thought prize is slightly higher. Wanted to go for Petrol variant. But finally after a lot of research on Car's..test drives of all available options in Hatchback and mid size sedan's...tracking comments on over 50 blogs..and consulting friends..finally I have taken Ambient 1.4 TDI PD Diesel Version, Biege color for myself and Red Classic for my brother-in-law. Will surely update on performance soon. Prima faci..i m convinced on my decision..Elegent looks, Awesome design, Cool Comfort, Sturdy body and Robust EnginneringDistracting Noise in Engine, Below Average Audio System, Slightly premium pricing

      Dear friends..

This review is about Fabia Ambiente 1.4 tdi. I have been reading reviews on this car - both positive and negative. I realise those who own it are quite passionate about it, though there are a few who are completely disappointed as well mostly owing to bad service and some defect.

I also watched recent reviews on TV where Fabia was compared with i20 and Fiat's Grande Punto, apart from its specious comparisons with Ritz, Swift, and others. The reviews do say that this is the best one though others arent too far behind. I test drove it, and after much deliberation I finally booked it. Now I think I should have it by the day after. I am quite excited about it.

Many have expressed their doubts over service, expensive spare parts and pick up. I considered these points as well and I realised, based on my past driving experience with the cars that I have owned till now (from Maruti and Tata stables), that the car should not be giving any troubles considering it has to live upto its 'luxury' brand. This car has host of features, including safety and comfort features.

I considered going for this car after I test drove all other cars mentioned above. I am convinced that it looked most attractive (this is subjective though), that the interior are frugal, tasteful, smacked of German craftsmanship. I liked the details in the car, little details not noticieable, however, important and contributory to the overall feel of the car. Somewhere it matches my personality which I think is very important. I am aware that the car is noisy while running, not that its various components rattle due to bad workmanship, but that there is a usual tendency of a deisel engine to be a bit noisy. I agree with one Mr. Suraj here that this vehicle is for a discerning buyer, an avant garde. And I would like to believe that I am!

I would welcome comments, if any, about the car. Meanwhile, let me own it, let me drive it...and then I will get back with more concrete impressions.

Good styling, nice confortable ride, stable while running on high speeds, a discernable buynothing negative so far!!
