I will tell you everything I experienced about Duster in this review.
I entered the Renault showroom at Thane on Sunday afternoon, saw this Red semi-loaded Duster standing in corner , I was already excited to get a hands on it so quickly pounced in to the drivers seat to get the feel of everything.
Looks of the Duster are pretty awesome, it looks like a modern muscular SUV, the Tires are wide & look good with the alloys and there’s a lot of space between body and tire for the suspensions which gives a heighted SUV look.
When I grabbed the handle to open the door, the door felt super light, almost my Santro, the handle was also made up of some cheap material. When I closed the door it banged loudly.
The rear seat A/c vents were broken, the seat Fabric was made of super cheap fabric, there were no steering mounted controls but the steering wheels had some controls at the back, which weren’t visible unless you take your head forward to see what those controls do.
Overall the plastic feel is not that good , it looks like that of cheap quality. I am not sure what that is really made up of. But one thing I am really sure is that Renault guys have really used a thin sheet of Metal to create the outer Body, which you can easily find out by punching on one of the side doors, it straight forward goes in and is ready for denting.
So now I thought to test drive the Vehicles and the process was done in 5 mins, I was ready with a white color 110 PS fully loaded Duster. One sales person Mr.X accompanied me, he was kind of over friendly and allowed me to really Test the Duster to full Extent.
I unlocked the Vehicles by press of a button on the Keys, I went to insert the Keys but Mr.X told me not needed, there’s an engine start button on the right, I was amazed. it required me to press the clutch and brake and press the button, engine started.
The area where vehicle was parked was Dusty so I expected Duster to create a sand storm, Dust kicking, & tyres burning when I accelerated to the possible on Start. But sadly nothing happened, it took 3-4 seconds for the vehicle to begin rolling.the engine was not at all roary as I expected, it was slow and lame on pickup. So when you stop at a signal don’t expect to WIN the drag race, so we went ahead, the TURBO kicked after some 2k RPM the vehicle gather some power, the steering was really really awesome.
You can view the entire world from the vehicles, the visibility is really good. I slowed at a coming speed breaker, MR.X said don’t do it on next one, so there was another one after few distance, I ran over it on 60+ and it absorbed majority of the shock, with little shake.
I was amazed by the suspension quality,. Then at an empty road Mr.X told me to do something funny,,he asked me to turn left and take the vehicle on the side way where the Pedestrians walk, but there were no people on Sunday afternoon, so for my delight, I took the Duster over that side walk which was almost at 6 inch’s hight, the Vehicle got on it easily I guess due to awesome Big tyres, than we drove over some broken roads, the suspensions are really good and the handling was what amazed me, the steering is really lively. I tried to Brake hard twice and thrice, it was really decent, the car stopped immediately after some meters. The A/C was decent in afternoon Heat not too chilling though.
I was really delighted by the cars performance besides Turbo Lag in the beginning. I reached showrrom and the mager said the vehicle has 3.5 month waiting period, the onroad cost was 13.5 L for 110PS.
I will list some pro’s & con’s as summary.
Good things : Suspension (A+), Handling A, Boot Space, Tyres, Button Start Stop engine, Mileage 15+ as claimed. Overall good for highways.
Bad things: interior’s plastic, seat cover fabric, thin Sheet metal used in Body, Turbo Lag, 5 seater, waiting period. Not sure about the Service they provide.
Overall the car needs a lot of modifications or improvement in the long term.

I have a very bad experience with Renault Duster. This was my 1st experience with Renault car. The car is good but there are many more things that are essential when you buy a car. While selecting a car I searched all the features of duster and found them good so I purchased it. But my total buying experience was horrible. Initially after calling more than 10 times they came for the test drive. Then when buying they committed me that you will get the desired number. After 2 months when I asked about my number they said you have to pay money to get the desired number. It was more than 2 months and they have not even initiated the process. I call them sometimes they response sometimes they don’t. It’s almost 4 months now till now I did got my RC card and the behavior of the employees is horrible. I would request to please re think the decision of buying this car.......
.Very Bad after sales serveice

Exterior Good.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Middle row is bit conjusted and only two persons can sit confirtably especially with higher end verient, because of the AC vent given for the middle row and only the miidle person can feel the AC.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I don't personally liked the initial pickup of 110BHP vehical, as it lags intial pickup.
Ride Quality & Handling Value for money. You can not just compare with INNOVA or XUV 500.
Final Words I booked the vehicle before it launched. Till date I have not even got the delivery date and when I inquired about the delivery date, representitives are giving replay that the company is not manufacturing the Basic varient and I may get the vehicle in the month of Mar 2013. And if company stopped manufacturing the Renault Duster 85PS RxE (D) why the hell they launched the basic varient. I stronglly thinking to withdraw my booking and file the cheating case against the company. Just think about the number of units on this varient got booked and each one of us might have paid around 50K. They might have got huge money as booking amount itself. This company is also playing like our politicians.
Areas of improvement As an startup motor company in INDIA, be stick on to your promise of delivery or any promise that matters. Don't think initial bookings are your success. Success will come on base of how prompt you are and how you give service.

I BOUGHT RENAULT DUSTER RXZ PS110 FROM AURANGABAD, I AM A RETIRE COLONEL FROM ARMY BASED AT NASIK.
WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS INTRODUCED IN THE MARKET, I WAS AMONG THE FIRST FEW TO OPT FOR IT.
AND BOUGHT THE TOP END MODEL. I HAVE DONE A COUPLLA THOUSAND KILOMETERS IN THIS VEHICLE.
& AM BY & LARGE SATISFIED WITH ITS PERFORMANCE. EVERYTHING WAS WORKING OUT ALL RIGHT TILL.
I BROKE THE REAR WINDSHIELD OF MY VEHICLE ABOUT 5 WEEKS BACK. DESPITE MY BEST EFFORTS TILL DATE I HAVE NOT MANAGED TO RECIEVE A REPLACEMENT & ALSO THERE IS NO SATISFACTORY RESPONSE EITHER FROM THE DEALER OR
FROM THE COMPANY HEAD AT CHENNAI. THIS IS DESPITE PERSONAL VISITS TO THE SHOWROOM, TELEPHONIC REMINDERS, E MAILS TO THE REGIONAL OFFICE. I HAVE RECIEVED NO ASSURANCE AS TO WHEN IS MY VEHICLE LIKELY TO BE REPAIRED.
PROSPECTIVE BUYERS BETTER WATCH OUT !

I own renault fluence. Just purchased few months back. People discuss various things for car like comfort, looks etc. Even I too compared everything and got fluence. Everything was fine till first Service. I gave it for first servicing and got very pathetic result. Then again gave it to readdress the issue. They have very very bad management. No one answers your call and if they say to call back in a hour, they will surely not get back for next 3 to 4 days. This is really unbelievable to get such a bad service from Renault. I do have ford cars, great service and a responsible company. Whereas renault, poor staff, poor management. In the name of servicing they just bluff customers. If u give your new car for general servicing they will return u in minimum of 10 days that too after several painful follow ups.

Exterior
I am waiting for this vehicle since I saw it in beiging auto expo. but, dissappointed. I drove for few KM, its not upto my expectations, out side look like a big one....inside look like Maruthi 800.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)
there no legroom for driver, no arm rest, waste of rear seat AC vent, it looks like an disposable toy. insead of huge luggage space...they could made some leg room for rear passangers. its purly designers fault....they should study indian conditions. they could have given more feature for the tag price.....
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
drove diesel one,,,,but felt like driving pertol one......clutch is very smooth....gear box is awsome
Ride Quality & Handling
very good
Final Words
I may not buy......its not value for money.First look were great! Internal plastics and dashboard look much better as compared to other SUV. Overall tyre gives it a bigger shape, the vehicle doesn’t look that Big.
Areas of improvement
driver leg room, space, back seat AC vent....back seat leg room,
Exterior,Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox, cramped leg room for driver, no place to move and place left leg in rest position. no arm rest

Exterior The exterior of the duster is arfully designed to make it look big, bulky and like a SUV. It is a very smart looking car. The woodland brown looks like a classy color which is very fast in europe but catching up in India.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors do not look great but very practically designed. Also the plastics although are termed as not high quality should have good durability.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The real area the duster scores in is the performance. I test drove the 108ps diesel and was suprised by the excellent engine refinement. Although a bit sluggish on the 2nd gear, moves very well as you push throught the RPM. To make things better, absolutely no cabin noise.
Ride Quality & Handling In this budget, i cannot think of any SUV that can match the duster for ride quality and handling. It was raining while I did the test drive and could confidently throw the car around at high speeds. It flys over bumps and pot holes and you hardly get to feel them. the steering makes you feel in control. The seats, both front and back are very comfortable.
Final Words The mod variant 85ps diesel is a great buy. The engine has no sluggishness and is best suited for Indian conditions. The mod variant of 85ps is a good deal and value for money. I have booked mine with a lot of confidence. Waiting for the car to be delivered.
Areas of improvement More service and delership network. Also Renault is a big brand in France and Europe. Unfortuanletly because of its previous tie up with M&M, the brand does not really carry the same kind of image in India. If anything, Renault should really build the brand in India.

Exterior Very good exteriors, beautiful wheel arches, good approach & departure angles. Goodlooking rails front grill & the rear view.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Little bit of less space in the second row seat.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbot Excellent engine, so smooth, bit ofturbo lag below 2000 rpm in 110 ps variant.
Ride Quality & Handling Excellent ride quality. Not sure if it holds good for light off reading.
Final Words Booked the vehicle in July, got a call from the dealer that the vehicle is in transit & would be delivered in week no 33, made a chunk of payment, but now the dealer says that he does not have a clue on the delivery date. Very bad start for Duster. Renault need to keep their promises or they would loose a lot off customers.
Areas of improvement Customer service & keep up the promises made, rest the vehicle will do the talking. If Renault India does keep up their promises, Duster can be a disaster.
Very good road presence, Good looking SUV, Excellent steering, very good performanceNo 4 x 4, less leg room for 2nd row, delivery promises a pain. Hope they keep the Renault Promise.Exterior/Styles

This car's ride quality is perhaps one of the best I have experienced till now. Suspensions are very finely tuned with minimal body roll. In a nutshell i am in love with its ride quality.
Duster is simple but yet elegant and have rugged looks to it. Gives you a feeling of an SUV and with its weight it has enough juice to iterally erase the blackboard.
Ground clearance is one of the highlights. You don't feel afraid taking this car over anything on thr road. This is where you realise that money on this SUV is well spent.
I would have liked interiors to be better and some more features in the car however i think with the price tag one has to do some compromises somewhere at the end of the day. Some of the features missing worth mentioning are climate control &electronically folding OVRM.
I have driven almost 1500 and loved every bit of it!
